CONSIDERING RETIREMENT
Blaze Wolf is strongly considering retirement, although nothing is set in stone...

Note: Please check the above template for what time it is in my location before sending a message as I may be asleep.

Note 2: When it is April fool's day, DO NOT TROUT ME as an April Fool's joke. In the past I had a trout button which I removed due to persistent abuse of it. If you trout me on april fool's day I will revert you and ask that you do not do it again.

Considering retirement

Hello all. I'm sure some of you will have noticed that I have placed {{considering retirement}} on my talk page. I have my reasons for this, tho it is nothing that necessarily involves me. Technically it involves everyone editing or viewing Wikipedia. Due to some circumstances regarding the higher-higher-ups (as in beyond admins) I'm not sure if I want to remain an editor on Wikipedia. If I have known you on Wikipedia for a while and you really wish to know more details then let me know here and I will send you an email with the details. I do not wish the details to be shared publicly here on Wikipedia or on the Wikipedia Discord server, or anywhere else involving Wikipedia and the WMF (excluding other Wiki's running on the mediawiki software that are otherwise not associated with the WMF). As the template says, nothing is set in stone at the moment, though it is something I am considering. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:15, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That seems a shame. As long as you have been enjoying editing here and as log as you have been abiding by the rules I see no reason for you to allow other people to control your behaviour. Since I have not seen any divergence from the rules it must be that you are not quite enjoying yourself. By all means take a wiki break. I took one for several years. It was meant to be for a few months but I had burned out and lost the fun. For me, the fun is back. I hope it returns for you, too.
I feel a sense of loss, since we have just met, but your staying because I ask would be your allowing me to control you. So stay, for as long as you want, and return when you want if you leave. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:39, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would love for other people to not control my behavior, however I don't really have a choice. If you'd like I will email you more details as said are not something I want public here on Wikipedia. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:41, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to send it I will read it. It is very rare that I respond by email. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:56, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the points you make in your email. I know others have felt those things before. What they have found is that it generally all comes good in the end.
Out of deference to you and in accordance with the rules, I may not reveal, even by my answers, any of the actual points in your email 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 18:19, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I may choose to reveal them in the future. But for now they remain private via email. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:20, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If I have any advice for you, it is to choose to ignore the things you emailed me about, simply because nor you nor I can affect them. If building the encyclopaedia is enough fun then the rest of whatever it is you sent me can safely be ignored. This is why I concentrate on building the encyclopaedia by reviewing by writing, be improving, by offering article for deletion, etc etc. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:40, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's not something that's easy to do considering how much it can affect me. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 23:43, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you can stay Blaze Wolf. You were the one of the first editors I interacted with at the Teahouse, and you gave me a lift when I was a struggling newbie who didn't even know how to upload an image. If you would like to talk about something, feel free to email or DM me on Discord The Night Watch ω (talk) 01:12, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Blaze Wolf! I saw the considering retirement above, and though I would understand, I hope you get to a place where you can choose to stay. You're a valuable editor on this project and you've been a big help to me, as well as others! Like I said, I would totally understand, but I sincerely hope to see you stay. I know that retirement may seem like a bad thing, Blaze Wolf, but it may mean a chance to look back at history. Speaking of, the Reverie Battles (that were archived in the Legends: Arceus wiki) were part of the Daybreak update, so I had to include them. - (12546a) 11:13, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Signature

Uhh I found out I could get a signature made here? If you can please do InfernaIBaze (talk) 04:16, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@InfernaIBaze: Hello Infernal! I can definitely make a signature for you. What do you want it to look like? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:11, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, good question. Maybe a black and red or a little techy blue would be nice, Thanks. InfernaIBaze (talk) 01:01, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Either one works InfernaIBaze (talk) 01:01, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@InfernaIBaze: Alright. Any specific shape or do you want it similar to mine? Do you want a gradient of red to techy blue (if I can figure that out which will probably just be stealing someone else's signature with a gradient to reference). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:09, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever you think is best works InfernaIBaze (talk) 03:12, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@InfernaIBaze: I'm not really all that creative so I have a hard time coming up with stuff on the fly. What specific shape do you want it or do you want it to look similar to mine? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:13, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Similar to yours works (I’m not creative either) InfernaIBaze (talk) 03:15, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@InfernaIBaze: Hey! So in regards to the link to your talk, is there anything you want underneath the link or is it fine as is? If so would you like the parentheses removed and any custom formatting around the link? Do note that I am limited to 255 characters total so it has to fit within that limit. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:34, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nope it’s fine like this. Sorry I haven’t been able to reply. InfernaIBaze (talk) 02:37, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nah it's alright. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:27, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I’m probably gonna sound really dumb staying this but when will the signature be made? (Assuming it’s not already made) InfernaIBaze (talk) 04:29, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No homo

Hi Blaze Wolf! With regard to this, I didn't know about that phrase. Apparently we even have an article about it. It still strikes me as homophobic though, and our article confirms that I'm at least not alone in this. In any case, the user was disruptive in other ways, so it's good that they're now blocked.

I'm often dubious though whether I should report at WP:UAA or not. Purely based on the username itself, do you think I should have gone for a {{Uw-username}} in this case? ☿ Apaugasma (talk ) 18:28, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly I'm not entirely sure. TO me it's one of those joke usernames that immediately make it clear they will be WP:NOTHERE like "peepeepoopoo". In my opinion it would qualify as an Offensive username which Twinkle states "Offensive usernames make harmonious editing difficult or impossible." ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:31, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) In my experience, the fates of ‘peepeepoopoo’-esque names depend on the admin going over the report. Some will block, some won’t. That's understandable— while the username policy forbids names that imply the intent to troll, vandalize, disrupt, advertise, or spam Wikipedia (and lists numerous examples), it forgot to mention ‘peepeepoopoo’ names, so there’s some grey area. (if there hasn’t already been one, there should really be an RfC on those.) Personally I feel that they fall under an intent to disrupt and report them when I see them. ◇HelenDegenerate03:43, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
From the point of view of an administrator who regularly patrols UAA, there are some usernames that that are so egregious that I block without needing to see disruptive edits. Then there are the borderline cases. There are certain usernames that I note in my own mind that I will block immediately at the slightest trace of disruptive editing. If such an account never edits, then there is no need for a block because there is no disruption of the encyclopedia. Drawing the line is not easy, but if the username is obviously sexualized and aggressive, or attacking and obviously trolling, I block instantly. If a borderline account disrupts, I block instantly. On the other hand, I did not block HelenDegenerate when I first noticed the username despite its risqué connotations, because I took a look at their contributions which were positive and have seen since then that Helen has proven to be among the very best at UAA reports, and Blaze Wolf is very good as well. Cullen328 (talk) 04:30, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Makes sense. To me its usually "Would a person who wants to be a regular contributor want to actually be referred to by this name?" to which most of the time the answer is no (although, an admin from another WIki thanked me for something I did and they had such a strange username that I almost thought they were a troll). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:29, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So yeah I guess that the username I reported here (Ilikemennohomo) was a borderline case, but because their editing was also disruptive directly reporting at UAA was the right move? Now that I think about it, if they did not edit disruptively I probably would just have asked them about it at their talk. Thanks all for your input, ☿ Apaugasma (talk ) 21:55, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That would be worse since it's such low quality. I don't know where they're getting these images but they don't look real. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:05, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Can I submit it to AfC without adding image. What I can do. Please help me and also review my this article Draft:Balwant Singh Mehta. 𝐋𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐭𝟕𝟐𝟖🧙‍♂️Let's Talk ! 14:06, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from TheNicheWebster (09:41, 14 December 2022)

Hi Blaze, sorry to pester you. My first contribution was removed and I am just wondering why. I tried to keep to the guidelines as much as possible and add a source to the information. Could you let me know where I went wrong please --TheNicheWebster (talk) 09:41, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TheNicheWebster: I'm not sure what you mean. Your only 2 contributions are this one and another one to my talk page. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:07, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I made an edit to a Tina Kay page, but it was removed. I thought you might have been able to see why. It fine, if you cant TheNicheWebster (talk) 16:15, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@TheNicheWebster: There is no article called Tina Kay though. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:18, 14 December 2022 (U Theroadislong (talk) 16:31, 14 December 2022 (UTC)TC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) That's the Spanish Wikipedia which is an entirely separate project.Theroadislong (talk) 16:31, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh really, sorry I didn't know. My apologies for taking up your time TheNicheWebster (talk) 16:32, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
TheNicheWebster, your edit to the Spanish article was reverted by a user called Pichu VI. Why not ask them about it? Bishonen | tålk 16:37, 14 December 2022 (UTC).[reply]
I don't know how to, to be honest. I did have a look on his page, but it's literally my first time trying to contribute to Wikipedia and I thought the best person to ask was my mentor TheNicheWebster (talk) 16:38, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't contribute to Spanish Wikipedia. I don't speak Spanish. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:48, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
