CONSIDERING RETIREMENT
Blaze Wolf is considering retirement, although nothing is set in stone...

Considering retirement

Hello all. I'm sure some of you will have noticed that I have placed {{considering retirement}} on my talk page. I have my reasons for this, tho it is nothing that necessarily involves me. Technically it involves everyone editing or viewing Wikipedia. Due to some circumstances regarding the higher-higher-ups (as in beyond admins) I'm not sure if I want to remain an editor on Wikipedia. If I have known you on Wikipedia for a while and you really wish to know more details then let me know here and I will send you an email with the details. I do not wish the details to be shared publicly here on Wikipedia or on the Wikipedia Discord server, or anywhere else involving Wikipedia and the WMF (excluding other Wiki's running on the mediawiki software that are otherwise not associated with the WMF). As the template says, nothing is set in stone at the moment, though it is something I am considering. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:15, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That seems a shame. As long as you have been enjoying editing here and as log as you have been abiding by the rules I see no reason for you to allow other people to control your behaviour. Since I have not seen any divergence from the rules it must be that you are not quite enjoying yourself. By all means take a wiki break. I took one for several years. It was meant to be for a few months but I had burned out and lost the fun. For me, the fun is back. I hope it returns for you, too.
I feel a sense of loss, since we have just met, but your staying because I ask would be your allowing me to control you. So stay, for as long as you want, and return when you want if you leave. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:39, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would love for other people to not control my behavior, however I don't really have a choice. If you'd like I will email you more details as said are not something I want public here on Wikipedia. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:41, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to send it I will read it. It is very rare that I respond by email. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:56, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the points you make in your email. I know others have felt those things before. What they have found is that it generally all comes good in the end.
Out of deference to you and in accordance with the rules, I may not reveal, even by my answers, any of the actual points in your email 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 18:19, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I may choose to reveal them in the future. But for now they remain private via email. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:20, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If I have any advice for you, it is to choose to ignore the things you emailed me about, simply because nor you nor I can affect them. If building the encyclopaedia is enough fun then the rest of whatever it is you sent me can safely be ignored. This is why I concentrate on building the encyclopaedia by reviewing by writing, be improving, by offering article for deletion, etc etc. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:40, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's not something that's easy to do considering how much it can affect me. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 23:43, 1 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you can stay Blaze Wolf. You were the one of the first editors I interacted with at the Teahouse, and you gave me a lift when I was a struggling newbie who didn't even know how to upload an image. If you would like to talk about something, feel free to email or DM me on Discord The Night Watch ω (talk) 01:12, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Blaze Wolf! I saw the considering retirement above, and though I would understand, I hope you get to a place where you can choose to stay. You're a valuable editor on this project and you've been a big help to me, as well as others! Like I said, I would totally understand, but I sincerely hope to see you stay. I know that retirement may seem like a bad thing, Blaze Wolf, but it may mean a chance to look back at history. Speaking of, the Reverie Battles (that were archived in the Legends: Arceus wiki) were part of the Daybreak update, so I had to include them. - (12546a) 11:13, 12 December 2022 (UTC)

Signature

Uhh I found out I could get a signature made here? If you can please do InfernaIBaze (talk) 04:16, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@InfernaIBaze: Hello Infernal! I can definitely make a signature for you. What do you want it to look like? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:11, 12 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, good question. Maybe a black and red or a little techy blue would be nice, Thanks. InfernaIBaze (talk) 01:01, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Either one works InfernaIBaze (talk) 01:01, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@InfernaIBaze: Alright. Any specific shape or do you want it similar to mine? Do you want a gradient of red to techy blue (if I can figure that out which will probably just be stealing someone else's signature with a gradient to reference). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:09, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Whatever you think is best works InfernaIBaze (talk) 03:12, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@InfernaIBaze: I'm not really all that creative so I have a hard time coming up with stuff on the fly. What specific shape do you want it or do you want it to look similar to mine? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:13, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Similar to yours works (I’m not creative either) InfernaIBaze (talk) 03:15, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@InfernaIBaze: Hey! So in regards to the link to your talk, is there anything you want underneath the link or is it fine as is? If so would you like the parentheses removed and any custom formatting around the link? Do note that I am limited to 255 characters total so it has to fit within that limit. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:34, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nope it’s fine like this. Sorry I haven’t been able to reply. InfernaIBaze (talk) 02:37, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nah it's alright. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 03:27, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I’m probably gonna sound really dumb staying this but when will the signature be made? (Assuming it’s not already made) InfernaIBaze (talk) 04:29, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And another thing (unrelated to the signature) is that discord user box outline how did you get it? InfernaIBaze (talk) 04:40, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Answer to your first question: Should be done sometime today assuming I'm not lazy. Answer to your second question: It's a template. Specifically User:Levi_OP/Discord Profile. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:09, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the answer, I’ll be looking forward to the signature! InfernaIBaze (talk) 01:51, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lemme know when it’s done InfernaIBaze (talk) 00:53, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also @Blaze Wolf how do you find these cool templates? It’s not like you just found the template in the template menu or anything InfernaIBaze (talk) 01:14, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also,(again) Japanese test for you. こんにちは、ぼくのほんとのなまえは、のあです(I’m half Japanese, don’t question the horrendous grammar) InfernaIBaze (talk) 01:23, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In response to the Japanese test, all I can understand is the first part which is "Konnichiha" or "hello. Other than that I have no clue what the rest says. I'm still at a very basic level lol. Also, the way I found the cool template on my talk page was that I think I remember seeing it on someone else's userpage before it was a template and the guy (who I think is now inactive) made it into a template since I wanted it on my userpage as well. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 02:36, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh okay… I was hoping for some magic website that gave you the greatest templates or whatever. No big deal tho.(this is a joke) The full translation is, Hello, my name is Noah. Simple InfernaIBaze (talk) 02:52, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This conversation is veering really far from signature. InfernaIBaze (talk) 02:53, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am very sorry that I have to be like this. If you feel annoyed( and I know you do) you can stop helping me at any time. InfernaIBaze (talk) 03:21, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And even after that apology I feel intreged to ask. How Are you learning Japanese. InfernaIBaze (talk) 03:24, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

about my submission

hi blaze wolf you declined a article Ceno (rapper), said it was a duplicate however. the coverage source was added, as the first draft was declined said it needed better sources. please shed some light on this issue Es87gcwriter (talk) 21:14, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Es87gcwriter: You should not submit multiple drafts on the same topic. Pick one (preferably Draft:Ceno (rapper)) and submit that. You can resubmit the same draft after a decline (once you address the reasons it was declined), there's no need to create a new page which results in two drafts as we have here. Add {{db-self}} to the top of the draft that you do not want to move forward with in order to request its deletion. ––FormalDude (talk) 21:20, 20 December 2022 (UTC) (talk page watcher)[reply]

Mannheim Steamroller Members

Hi Blaze, we need to come to a consensus on the members that belong in the Infobox for the Mannheim Steamroller ensemble. The citation that I included with the current members of the ensemble (that you reverted) listed every member currently in the ensemble and was current for 2022-2023. Your comment, when you reverted the edit, stated "Besides, this source doesn't mention all of them" -- by "them", I assume you are referring to the names listed in the Infobox when I updated the list? But that actually isn't true. If you check the cite, you will see that the members of the ensemble that were listed in the Infobox were exactly (no more no less) the members of Mannheim Steamroller noted in the link from the citation. That citation linked to the official 2022-2023 touring roster. How is that not sufficient enough to list the members?

I would like to expand on the rationale of your edit a little more. First, let me note that your original edit to the page back in November was a good first move to clean up what had been an old and antiquated list of members. I agree with your edit back in November. I also agree with you that the ensemble changes members as often as every year for its annual tours. However, I disagree with you that "We should really only list the ones that are almost always there." American Gramaphone, the record label that releases Mannheim Steamroller's music, and is also the trademark owner of Mannheim Steamroller and is owned by Chip Davis, has made it quite clear on its website and via its social media announcements, that the ensemble, by nature of it being a classical-crossover ensemble, changes its members every year. American Gramaphone markets Mannheim Steamroller as an ensemble, not as a band, and for this reason your rationale that we should only include "the ones that are almost always there" doesn't really apply anymore.

However, and having said that, there are members beyond Chip who "are almost always there" in the present day and should be considered current members of the ensemble. For example, Roxanne Layton, who joined the ensemble in 1995, is still a member, has recorded on every Mannheim album since 1996, and still tours. Becky Kia joined in 2003 and has recorded on their albums since 2010 and still tours. Logan Penington has been with the group since 2006. All three of these members are listed in the citation that I provided and that you removed.

Now, I will say, outside of Wikipedia, that there is some controversy between the fans of Mannheim Steamroller and American Gramaphone about who constitutes the members of the Steamroller. Some subset of fans are saddened that the original members of the group have retired or, tragically in some cases, passed away. I don't know if you are reverting for this reason, and I'm not trying to say that you're reverting for this reason, but it is something that American Gramaphone is aware of and they are actively trying to re-brand Mannheim Steamroller for this reason. Most of the original members of the group are now in their 70s and 80s. Chip is 75 years old. The point I'm trying to make here is that American Gramaphone is deliberately trying to brand Mannheim Steamroller as an ensemble, and to make apparent that the members of the ensemble will change over time. As Wiki editors, I think it therefore makes sense to properly acknowledge that intent by listing the current members of the group, even if those current members change every year (and they likely will change every year). We should take the responsibility to examine the Steamroller's tour roster every year, and update the members listed in the Infobox appropriately.

Let's discuss and hopefully come to consensus. Like I said earlier, I appreciate and respect the initial edit that you made to the page. But we should come to a consensus on this. Montreux4 (talk) 05:15, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Montreux4: Hello Montreux! "Some subset of fans are saddened that the original members of the group have retired or, tragically in some cases, passed away. I don't know if you are reverting for this reason, and I'm not trying to say that you're reverting for this reason" I am definitely not reverting for this reason. However I was not aware that the only member who is almost always there now is Chip himself. Maybe instead we should list the most common ones? I don't think it would be a good idea to list the ones for each year since that would get a bit tedious to update. Or maybe we could just list Chip with an EFN stating that the other members change every year. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:28, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Blaze. I think this could work. What about this: what if we include a short list of artists who are part of the current tour and were involved with the most recent published recording of the ensemble that is not a compilation album. That would be their live album from 2015. The artists who were on that album, and are still touring with the group, are the artists that I mention above. That is, in addition to Chip, Roxanne Layton, Becky Kia-Mills, and Logan Penington. I agree with you that it would be important to footnote that Mannheim Steamroller works with a rolling roster of musicians for each of its annual tours. I've even seen on some Wiki pages, that the infobox will list a certain number of musicians in the box, then, at the end of the list, use a parenthetical and say "(Many Others)". We could do that here and then EFN about a changing roster of touring musicians. Let me know what you think, and I can work to update the Infobox. Thanks. Montreux4 (talk) 05:17, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That way it isn't a huge giant infobox but we aren't leaving anyone out. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:13, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf. Thanks. I agree. I'll work on an edit and let you know once it is up if you want to make any further contributions. Montreux4 (talk) 22:02, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Oldcts1 (18:20, 21 December 2022)

Hello--In the Article on the Camp Lejeune Water Claims...there is no mention of already deceased Marines whose families have a right to being compensated. My brother spent his entire career at Lejeune, lived in barracks at Hadnot, took two showers a day, drank water, developed 5 ills on list from 1965 until his death in 2017--including Parkinsons from mid-80's until death. If a claim is filed and is successful, is their State and Federal Taxes including inheritance taxes on the award(s)? I am his Personal Rep and this info important...I always contribute to you folks and need your help, and so does a lot of families harmed by this. The Lawyers get 40%, the Tax Folks get 35%, and the survivors get what? Is this compensation taxable? VA benefits are NOT Thanks. --Oldcts1 (talk) 18:20, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello friend.

I had a question, and since you've helped me in the past, you'll know what I can do now.

Anyway, I found, I think, a couple of links that don't open in the article Bluetooth, in this case it's the original links present in |url=, however, the link present in |archive-url= opened normally, and I was able to view the content I needed.

In these specific cases, if I encounter problems and manage to edit the article, should I update the |url-status= from live to dead or leave it as it is and report it on the talk page?

I ask this so I don't have problems with reversed edits, and as I said before, I don't speak English and I use a translator, but whenever I'm checking the fonts I find some with problems, like one of the ones I tried to open and it gave a 403 error. Elder N (talk) 22:48, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Elder N: Hello Elder! Would you mind providing me with one of these cases? Error 403 doesn't necessarily mean that the link is dead but it might. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 23:04, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
In Bluetooth 4.1 font number 106 does not open, this is error 403.
In the same section there is source 107 with error 404.
These are marked with the |url-status=live
I also couldn't open source 109 of Bluetooth 4.2, this one even loads here for me in the browser, but there's that chrome error screen, with the message "ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT", and asking to do some checks on my connection, proxy and run Windows network diagnostics, but it couldn't be a problem with my computer or connection, since all other links open normally, the link present in |archive-url= opened for that site. Elder N (talk) 23:12, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Elder N: Source 109 was already marked as dead. However i have no changes sources 106 and 107 to be dead. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 00:58, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
