Madison Lilly Bailey (Born 29 January 1999) is an American actress. She starred as Kiara Carrera on the Netflix teen drama series Outer Banks.[1]
Early life
Bailey was born in Kernersville, North Carolina, United States, and was raised in Charleston by adoptive parents. She is of African and Italian descent and has three brothers and three sisters.[2] Her adoptive mother died in 2018; she and her two sisters have a tattoo in honor of her memory.[3][2][4] Bailey attended East Forsyth High School in Kernersville.[5]
Bailey was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder when she was 18.[6][7]
Career
Bailey originally wanted to be a singer, but transitioned to acting and modeling at age 15 after suffering stage fright while singing in front of people.[8] She began her professional acting career in 2015, appearing in TV series such as Mr. Mercedes and Constantine. In 2018, she was cast as Wendy Hernandez, a teenage metahuman with the ability to control and manipulate the air, in the CW science fiction TV series Black Lightning, a role she played for two seasons.
Since 2020, she has portrayed Kiara "Kie" Carrera on the Netflix mystery drama Outer Banks.[9]
Personal life
Bailey is pansexual.[7][10] She is currently dating basketball player Mariah Linney.
