Armored Command Unit

The Aarmored Command Unit or ACU is a player controled vehicle in the RTS Supreme Commander

History

The Amored Command Unit is the most recognizable, powerful and flexible weapon in the Infinite War it is the avatar of the field commander on the battlefield, and is used to direct all military operations. Used by all three factions, the ACU whas originally developed by the Earth Empire as a solution to the unique problems of the Quantum Gate Network. The Earth Empire needed to be able to project military power to any world conected to the Network, but the logistics and costs of sending physical matter acr0ss the galaxy made teleporting large armyes dificult and prohibitibely expensive. The ACU is a personal, armored exoskeleton sveral times larger than a normal human, operated by a single highly-trained and motivated pilot. Although the pilot is constantly in communication with his Command structure via the onboard Quantum Communication system, the pilot is in sole command of the porces on the battlefield.

Construction

The primary mission of the ACU is to construct and command a robotic army. Beacouse it cannot bring a large force with it through a Quantum Tunnel, it stores digital template patterns of basic military base structures within protected banks od synthetic DNA memory storage. Its Proto-Crafter does the rest. Using the power from its onboard Fusion reactor and an initial store of mass, the ACU ca buil basic Energy and Mass resource collectors at the target site. Factories capable of building basic military units can also be contructed; from these factories, engineers can be constructed, witch, in turn, are able to build even more complex structures. As long as the enviroment can provide Energy and Mass, the ACU can produce basic units indefinitely.
