Su Park (Template:Lang-ko; born February 1, 1994) is a South Korean entrepreneur, art collector and curator, and socialite.
Early life
Su Park was born in Seoul, Korea to investor Park Young-Ok[1] and an interior designer and ceramics artist mother. She moved to the United States at 13 years old.[2] She went on to study communication and journalism at George Washington University in Washington DC. She later moved to Paris[3] and switched to art history[4] with an expertise in French art at the American University of Paris and La Sorbonne. In addition, she studied Art Business at Sotheby’s Institute of Art[2] and Chinese language and literature at University of Hong Kong.[5]
Career
Fashion
In 2019, she launched fashion and lifestyle brand Suri Paris. Based in Paris, Seoul, New York and Miami, the MZ-targeted brand ties Eastern and Western influences in a classic, feminine style.[6] Through Suri Paris, Park is also an ambassador for MungYeong Omija, a Korean superfood in partnership with officials of MungYeong.[7]
Boasting 115K followers on Instagram @surisuy, Suri is an art, fashion and high-end living influencer and has therefore been an ambassador for brands such as Gucci, Fred, Mercedes-Benz, Bang & Olufsen, and Royal Salute. She’s also been known to work with Valentino, Cartier, Mugler, Louis Vuitton, Apple, Loro Piana, Gianvito Rossi, Lululemon, and Rene Caovilla.
Art
Park started her art journey as onsite VIP assistant at Art Basel Hong Kong in 2017. For the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics, she was project manager at the VIP hospitality program.[8]
In 2017, she joined her family’s investment fund, Smart Income Inc.[9], as investment director. She manages private investment and wealth management, and is currently expanding portfolio management to contemporary art acquisition and pre-ipo cryptocurrency.[1]
In 2021, Park expanded her brand into Maison Suri, an art platform which curates art, design, sound, and clothing. Her salon, located on Place Vendôme, acts as an entryway to Maison Suri’s lifestyle and design values.[10][11]
Under Maison Suri, Park founded immersive multi-sensory exhibition Mind•full•ness [12] during the first edition of Frieze Seoul in fall 2022. Mind•full•ness is an experiential exhibition[10][11] which focuses on the universe of Korean contemporary art, specifically Dansaekhwa, with sound and scent curation as a process of activation and reflection on curatorial possibilities beyond the solely visual response. The exhibition took place in Villa de Parnell and features over 35 artists and 100 artworks.[13][14][15]
