Jay and Silent Bob Template

[edit]

I read through the movie section of your sandbox template (except J&SBSB as I keep meaning to see that movie, seen all the others). Looks good, although I would say the current entry for Clerks is a bit better. My only real advice is either you or an early editor overuses the comma a bit (I actually went through and copyeditted that before realizing I was on a sandbox template instead of the main article, d'oh). -Markeer 23:46, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimeet?

[edit]

Since you indicated that you live in (or are originally from) Pittsburgh, you may be interested in a Wikimeet I'm trying to set up in Pittsburgh. You may join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Meetup/Pittsburgh. So far, we have 4 interested people, and we're hoping to bring that number up to 5 or more. Once we have at least 5 people we can begin discussing the time and location. (Note: If for any reason you do not wish to participate, simply ignore this message.) Pennsylvania

[edit]

You've made a number of edits recently to the Pennsylvania page, and I thought I'd stop by, introduce myself.

A couple of us have recently been making significant changes to the Pennsylvania article, trying to groom it for "Good Article" status, with "Featured Article" status in the back of our minds. We've tried to upgrade the references on most of the article, so that every fact stated is backed up by a reliable, summarized some of the content and moved it to its own pages, so that it can have the detail it deserves instead of being limited by being on the state page, etc.

Your edits have generally been intelligent and well-considered. You've caught a couple of goofs that I've introduced. Anyway, I mostly wanted to say "Thanks". ClairSamoht - Help make Wikipedia the most authoritative source of information in the world 04:19, 11 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The table in sports bothers me. The Wikipedia policy is to discourage lists and tables, and use text where possible, and that was a mammoth table, so I tried converting it to text form, but somebody put it back in. I reduced it in size so it wouldn't be so massive, but it can't go any higher because of that horizontal scenery, and it extends WAY below the sports section. So I moved the zoos and amusement parts into that section, and tried to come up with other text to keep that damn table from screwing up what follows.
Racing is a bigger sport than football, baseball, or basketball, and it seems fair that if you list obscure pro sports like the Lancaster Barnstormers (popular here in Lancaster, but nobody else has heard of them) and lacrosse, it's reasonable to list ALL pro sports in the state.
So it strikes me that we really ought to move all that data to a spinoff article named something like "Professional sports in Pennsylvania" where all the data could go that keeps the sports nuts happy, and in the state article, instead of having that table at all, we could just mention the major league baseball, football, baseball and basket teams, in text form.
What do you think? ClairSamoht - Help make Wikipedia the most authoritative source of information in the world 05:16, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Map of Fullerton, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania Highlighted.png. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Map of Fullerton, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania Highlighted.PNG. The copy called Image:Map of Fullerton, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania Highlighted.PNG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 02:16, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pen Argyl Green Knight Logo.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Pen Argyl Green Knight Logo.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 13:56, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please use the 'move' tab

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that recently you carried out a copy and paste page move. Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. -- But|seriously|folks  06:18, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please excuse the template, but a lot of experienced editors don't know this GFDL nuance. Cheers! -- But|seriously|folks  06:19, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lehigh Valley Definition

[edit]

I recently added comments to yours in the Talk:Lehigh Valley section regarding the definition of the Lehigh Valley. I also added comments to the Wiki L.V. project page on this subject. Like you, I have been unable to find any sources to support using the terms Lehigh Valley and A-B-E metropolitan statistical area (MSA) interchangeably. The U.S. Census Bureau does not recognize the term L.V., nor does any local agency define the Valley as including parts of Carbon, Berks or Bucks. Google searches of the terms "lehigh valley" and "allentown-bethlehem-easton" (used together) turn up no hits where L.V. and the MSA are defined as being the same entities, except those tied to the Wikipedia article.

It is my understanding that WP information must be sourced, yet the L.V. article has no sources addressing this and other key assertions. I have several ideas for re-writing the article's opening paragraphs and could cite numerous sources to limit the definition to Lehigh-Northampton counties plus the Phillipsburg area, yet I am hesitant to do so because I suspect it will meet with resistance. Also, I am relatively new to the process and don't want to overstep any bounds. Is there any feedback you could lend? Thanks. Allreet (talk) 21:07, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Express-Times reporter

[edit]

Hey, my name is Colin, I'm a reporter with The Express-Times. I'm considering writing a story about Wikipedians who live in the local Lehigh Valley area, and I have been trying to find Wikipedia contributors who contribute a whole lot to the page on a regular basis. I'm not sure how often you yourself contribute, but I saw that you have contributed to several local stories, and I thought I could either talk to you, and/or you could direct me to some other local Wikipedians.

Please let me know! Either respond to my talk page or e-mail me at cmcevoy@express-times.com whenever you get a chance.

Thanks! --Hunter Kahn (talk) 00:21, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NowCommons: Image:US map-Mid-Atlantic region.png

[edit]

Image:US map-Mid-Atlantic region.png is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:Image:US map Mid-Atlantic region.png. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[Image:US map Mid-Atlantic region.png]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 15:22, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Municipalities in Pennsylvania

[edit]

I myself like the idea of a nice, long list, but I can see how that could damage some browsers. Maybe we could list the top 100 and leave it at that, since some cities are smaller than some boroughs, townships, and Bloomsburg. ~EDDY (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 19:13, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Reading Seal.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Reading Seal.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk) 17:54, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
