  • Development of the grief process scale through music therapy ... (n.d.). Retrieved February 5, 2023, from https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Robert-Krout/publication/232499084_Development_of_the_Grief_Process_Scale_through_music_therapy_songwriting_with_bereaved_adolescents/links/5b5a183c458515c4b249fb86/Development-of-the-Grief-Process-Scale-through-music-therapy-songwriting-with-bereaved-adolescents.pdf
    • The inclusion of this source to the article is very valuable because oftentimes, the adolescent age can easily be forgotten when thinking about the types of people who are most often affected by grief in a significant way. In this study, researchers used songwriting to allow adolescents the chance to write about what they were feeling and then use their emotions and creativity to turn this into music. I found this source using Google Scholar and searching for articles that highlighted any possible missing voices that would be beneficial to include in an article about music therapy.
  • authors, A., Witte, M. de, & Additional informationFundingThis work was supported by Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek: [Grant Number 023.007.068]. (n.d.). Music therapy for stress reduction: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Taylor & Francis. Retrieved February 5, 2023, from https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17437199.2020.1846580[1]
    • The inclusion of this article adds many possibly missing voices to the discussion on music therapy. The researchers who collaborated on this article are all from the Netherlands; hearing from people who have different backgrounds from ourselves provides for us a different perspective on the topic of music therapy. In this particular study, the researchers examined the impact of receptive interventions (patient listens to music) as well as active interventions (patient makes music in some way) on the stress levels of patients. I noticed in the Music Therapy article on Wikipedia that the section about its impact on general mental health was very small, so I used Google Scholar to find this article about the impact of music therapy on stress that can hopefully provide some more insight on how music therapy impacts mental health.
  • Some ideas about music therapy for the elderly. Voices. (n.d.). Retrieved February 5, 2023, from https://voices.no/index.php/voices/article/view/1600/1359[2]
    • This source would provide some great value to the discussion about music therapy, because it includes many more of the effects that music therapy can have on the elderly from a general mental health standpoint rather than just from an illness standpoint. In addition to illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer's, elderly people also experience many other mental health issues as well that stem from loneliness, loss, or confusion. This includes the missing voices that have experienced this. This source provides information on how music therapy can be used within the elderly population to work through past trauma, deal with depression and sadness, and allow the elderly to feel calm, safe, and secure rather than paranoid. I noticed how small the section on the mental health of elderly people was in the Wiki article and found this source on Google Scholar so that I could reference it when adding to that section later on.
