Welcome from me as well

[edit]

Hello! I saw your comments at Wikipedia talk:Disambiguation pages with links. I just wanted to let you know that if you ever have any questions, feel free to send me a message on my talk page. I don't know everything (or even half of everything), but I'd certainly be willing to help you in any way I can. Thanks for all your help in disambiguation link repair, and welcome to Wikipedia! Hi, PaperTruths! I saw your contribution about loft and nap at Talk:Cashmere wool, which was great! I like fiber-arts stuff, too, especially knitting. I'm still a Wiki-newbie, though, so sometimes I feel awfully awkward, but the Help pages are really, well, helpful. Looking forward to your rolling pins... WillowW 09:48, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, and thanks for your nice note! It would be great to have some swatch pictures; I never even thought of that (I don't have a camera). From your About page, it seems like you'll be able to add tons more to the knitting pages; now I'm nervous whether what I wrote there was accurate -- eep! BTW, your speed-demon editing is amazing -- you go, Wiki-girl! :D WillowW 13:39, 25 May 2006 (UTC) P.S. How do you make sub-pages of your user page, like User:PaperTruths/About? Is there a page with all the Wiki-tricks?[reply]

Good work!

[edit]

Noticed you fixed vandalism on Solar cooker - I was impressed that you did it so quickly after it was done. And it seems you've been doing a fair bit of anti-vandalism work. Well done.

Welcome to Wikipedia - hope you like it here. --Singkong2005

...and improving Arsenic poisoning as well... you do get around! Thanks --Singkong2005 01:58, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

that's the problem, it's not a point of view, it's a matter of fact, i put about the loyalty because of what i've read, i've put about people's misconceptions because it happens to everybody with a doberman at least once, i have a very neutral POV, but i'll tell the truth, i don't put in opinions, i put in the facts i know — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucianotis (talkcontribs) 23:50, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
another problem, people shy away away from the truth, i've changed it to make it seem less hostile, but i'm not hiding from the truth just coz people don't like it, and no matter how hard anyone tries, THEY CAN'T MAKE ME — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucianotis (talkcontribs) 23:55, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
thank you for realizing this, i also do not wish for any tension between us and hope that we can work together on many articles in the future. i'll deal with these people when the time comes, again i hope we will work together on many articles in the future,
take care
hopefully your friend, otis — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucianotis (talkcontribs) 00:16, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help on No More Tears (song)

[edit]

I had posted to WP:AN because I wasn't sure on lyric copyrights. Glad to see a fellow Missourian (?) helping out as a Wikipedian. Also don't worry so much about messing up, just do your best. You already seem to be doing good things fighting vandalism as well, keep up the good work! I will also volunteer myself as a resource for any questions you may have (and I'll try to answer them). You've been truffled by Charlie

[edit]

Charlie has given you some of his famous Solid chocolate truffles! Chocolate truffles taste good, help moods, promote WikiLove and hopefully make your day better.

Hope you find the truffles to be tasty, and make sure you enjoy them with a nice tall glass of milk (they're rich)! --Charlie( @CIRL | talk | email ) 02:57, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again

[edit]

Hi, PaperTruths, this is Willow again. Thanks for the links on how to do subpages and all that; there's a whole world of Wiki that I didn't even know existed! Can I just say how amazing you are? Your edits are so fast and so many -- wow! Keep up the good work -- yay yay yay :)

I had another question, too. I noticed that there are Categories for many groups of Wikipedians, like Wikipedians interested in five-eyed worms but none for knitters. :( How do we start such a Category and maybe link into it all the people with userboxes who like knitting? It'd be nice to have more of a community, although maybe there is such a Category/forum and I just haven't found it. Do you have any ideas? WillowW 18:29, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yay, yay, yay, yay! :D I think I got it to work! Check out the categories Category:Wikipedian knitters and Category:Wikipedians interested in fiber arts. Maybe it wasn't allowed, but I tinkered with the knitting userbox to include everyone in the Category, by copying a few lines from the template in the Wikipedian dancer userbox. If you know how these things work, please check it and make sure I didn't break anything -- thanks for all your help!

I'm all in favor of the Wiki-Project, although it seems like we should recruit more editors, don't you think? Why don't you add it to Wikipedia:Wikiproject/List of proposed projects and see if there's a good response? WillowW 03:23, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I like your new color signature -- very cool! But I like even more your explanation of why you chose PaperTruths as a name.

Hi, PTs! :D

Congratulations on reaching 1000 edits! 12 days has got to be some kind of record, don't you think? I can almost see the flames from your keyboard -- so useful for those late-night edits. ;)

I added a few more userboxes for fiber artists; see Wikipedia:Userboxes/Interests. I tried to keep them as few and general as possible, so people wouldn't think that I was being silly or abusing the system -- what do you think? It seemed better to tie the boxes to the expertise (User does X), rather than to the interest (User is interested in X), more aligned with what Wikipedia's goals for userboxes seem to be. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity in the fiber arts, very sad :( I did notice a few people working on Fashion articles, especially User:PKM and User:Churchh, who seem amazing. They might want to join a general WikiProject on fiber arts, but their interests seem focused on the history of Western fashion, a huge project in its own right... Trading Recipies...

[edit]

Hey PaperTruths... Sorry about not getting back to you sooner, I've been rather busy over this memorial day weekend. But I would love to trade recipies! Fly pie sounds delicious. I've posted my truffle/dipping/topping recipe here as I'm not sure I want to release it under GDFL (yet anyways). Many regards and hope you enjoy Charlie( @CIRL | talk | email ) 04:39, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Kudos to you!

[edit]

Thanks so much for your nice comments, PaperTruths! They really made me smile. :D I hope that what you see helps you as you contribute more and more on Wikipedia - don't hesitate to ask for help if you have any questions. Oh, and I edit while I sleep (just kidding! ;) ) -- Natalya 22:38, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Disambiguation Talk Request

[edit]

This is a form message being sent to all WikiProject Disambiguation participants. I may have found your page based on your contributions or your link repair user box on your user page. If you are not a member, please consider including your name on the project page. I recently left a proposed banner idea on the WikiProject Disambiguation talk page and I would appreciate any input you could provide. Before it can be approved or denied, I would prefer a lot of feedback from multiple participants in the project. So if you have the time please join in the discussion to help improve the WikiProject. Keep up the good work in link repair and thanks for your time. Nehrams2020 23:13, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're invited to Wikipedia Takes St. Louis!

[edit]

Dust off your Polaroid camera and pack your best lenses. The first-ever Wikipedia Takes St. Louis photo hunt kicks off Sat, Sept. 15, at 12:30pm in downtown St. Louis. Tour the streets of the Rome of the West with other Wikipedians and even learn a little St. Louis history. This event is a fun and collaborative way to enhance St. Louis articles with visual content. [edit]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:34, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
