The Battle of Kiratpur, also known as Battle of Kiratpur Sahib, was a battle between the Sikhs commanded by Guru Hargobind and the Mughal Empire commanded by the Rulers of Ropar. It was also the last skirmish between the Sikhs and the Rulers of Ropar. This battle was preceding Battle of Padiala.(Padiala is not to be confused by Patiala, a city in Punjab)
The Mughals at Ropar were starting to feel jealous of Guru Hargobind's popularity. At Padiala, the Sikhs were able to thwart the planned ambush by attacking the pathans, on behalf of Guru Hargobind, in advance. There was a fierce battle at the site of Gurdwara Sri Jhanda Sahib.[3]
After spotting the cremations of the martyred sikhs, Guru Ji proceeded to Brahmin Majra where he found a Brahmin whose new wife had been trafficked during the wedding by some local Muslim rulers.[2][3]
Upon hearing this, Guru Hargobind and 25 other sikhs chased the Mughal's to Ropar city where they were defeated. After this battle, the Rulers of Ropar never dared to attack Guru Hargobind ever again.
