The Pearl of the Dane is a former Seafood restaurant in Congleton, Cheshire.[1]

History

The Pearl of the Dane was built as the Danish fishing trawler Limanda.[1][2]

In the 1990s the Limanda was bought by in Anglesey by a Congleton businessman.[1]

Due to the size of the ship only the hull was transported to Congleton.[2]

Keeping with the theme of seafood the structure around the hull was converted to resemble a 1920s steamboat.[1][2]

The Pearl of the Dane opened in the late 1990s and was successful in its first year of operation.[1]

The success of the Pearl of the Dane did not last long.[2]

In the past the former restaurant has been subject of vandalism.[1]

There have been plans in the past to reopen the restaurant,[2] but these plans have never come to anything.
