Rozalia Sultangareeva (Розалиә Солтангәрәева) (March 28, 1955)- Bashkir folklorist and scientist. Professor. Folk singer. Director of the Research Center of Bashkir Folklore.[1] [2]

Biography

Rozalia Sultangareeva was born on March 28, 1955, in the village of Novosepyashevo, Alsheyevsky District of Bashkortostan. Her parents were teachers. [3]

In 1978 she graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Bashkir Pedagogical University in Ufa.

Since 1982 she has been a researcher at the Institute of History, Language and Literature of the Bashkir Branch of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union. Since 1991, she has been appointed a chef scientific officer at the Department of Folkloristics of the Institute of Linguistics of the Ufa Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences of the Research Center of Bashkir Folklore.

In 1982–89, she took part in 39 folklore expeditions to the regions of Bashkortostan, as well as to the Kurgan, Orenburg,Perm, Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinskregions (since 1986 as a leader), the homeland of the Bashkirs.

From the folk singer A. M. Usmanova (1930-2015) she recorded an authentic version of the Bashkir epic "Ural-batyr" in a melodious performance.[4]

In 1988 Rozalia Sultangareeva presented her thesis "Bashkir wedding ritual folklore" (Alma-Ata, 1988).

In 2003 the scientist received her Doctorate in Philology, having presented her thesis "Family and household ritual folklore of the Bashkir people” (Moscow, 2003).[5]

Professor Sultangareeva explores ritual, game, choreographic, storytelling, epic, religious folklore, also mythology, healing practices of the Bashkirs.[6]

The researcher uses scientific activitythe arsenals of anthropology, sociology, ethnology, as mandatory for folklore science.

Sultangareeva combines fundamental and applied science in her practice. The scientist revealed the original layers of folklore, moved away from explanatory research traditions and created the concepts of study demanded by other Turkic scientists.

She is the author of several books of songs (kubayir) in the style of Bashkir folklore («Ҡобайырым, һиңә, илем!» -«My songs to you, country») (1995), «Рух терәге-ҡобайыр»-« Kubayr,the spiritual support of the people») (2005) ).

She actively participated in the preparation for publication of the book series "Bashkir Folk Art" ("Bashkort Halyk Izhadi"),the encyclopedia "Bashkortostan" and other books with Akhmet Suleymanov, Fanuza Nadrshina, Nur Zaripov and other scientists together.[7]

In 2003-2013 she also taught students at the Ufa Academy of Arts n.a. Zagir Ismagilov and the Academy of Eastern ESU.

Rozalia Sultangareeva is the author of more than 400 scientific papers, including many books on Bashkort folklore.

Honorary Professor of the S. Baishev Aktobe University (Kazakhstan) (since 2012).

As a folk singer and teacher, she makes a great contribution to the preservation of the culture of the epic traditions of the Bashkirs, the autochthonous people of the Urals.

In 1991 she became diploma winner of the All-Russian competition "Voices of Russia"(Smolensk), 1996 laureate of the International Aqyns and dastanchi Competition in Alma-Ata (Kazakhstan).
