Cortex Command Community Project
This has been edit-warred back and forth a few times. The person who is removing it has a personal grudge against the Cortex Command Community Project (CCCP) team, and uses the claim that it's a mod and therefore undeserving of being mentioned as an excuse to justify the removal. CCCP is not a mod - it's an open-source continuation including changes to the base game engine, and is incompatible with the original Cortex Command Steam release.
The original lead developer of Cortex Command, Data, is in the Discord channel and has given his blessing towards the project. Furthermore another two former official developers of Cortex Command, CaveCricket48 and Weegee, have directly contributed to the CCCP. It's also directly listed as a pinned topic on the official Steam forums.
The person removing this mention, Inquisitor Shadowlord, is involved with the Cortex-Command-Community-Continuation, or "C4", which is a fork of the CCCP code by disgruntled former contributors. See https://www.cortexcommandcenter.net/channel/faq for details:
Q: why the fork from the CCCP?
A: CCCP history and me (pawnis) being its original founder aside, we consider the CCCP to be rotten to a gruesome degree and no longer conductive to anything good or healthy, including but not limited to actual progress on Cortex Command.
- Looks like some people need to declare their conflict of interest and not edit this directly.-- Deepfriedokra (talk) 20:48, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
First released as a demo?
Yeah, the game went through 18 builds before it became a limited demo, which was at build 19 in which you had to buy it to make it work as it had in build 18, but of course with nifty new features. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.67.168.135 (talk) 06:34, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
- I've made a slight alteration to the wording so that it is more accurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Forsaken1111 (talk • contribs) 08:44, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
Linux?
Why does it say that this game supports Linux? I can't see it mentioned anywhere on the official website... If it does, can someone show me a link or something (my interest is also from an user standpoint) Darkuranium (talk) 23:05, 30 March 2011 (UTC)
- I have removed Linux from the list of supported platforms, since the official website clearly only supports Windows and MacOS X. The game does work perfectly for me using Wine though: Cortex Command on the WineHQ AppDB) --Demitsu (talk) 12:46, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
- The game has Linux binaries available from the HIB download page. No clue about anywhere else. I will add it, but just make it know that the binaries might only be available from the Humble Indie Bundle 2/3? Unit158 (talk) 03:22, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
Gameplay Section and Metacritic score
I might make a small gameplay section, detailing the plot and how to play (duh) and some info on mods.
Do you think it would be worth adding the metacritic score to reception? I think the game got a biased score because it is different. (Honestly, if this had turned out like Minecraft where it was a legend among games before being released it would have gotten a better review). Unit158 (talk) 03:32, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
