Check out my Organic chemistry textbook on the newly opened Wiki textbook site. BTW, I am proud to say that this subdomain was opened up in response to my request. Thank you Jimmy and Mav and everyone else !!

I am excited about the idea of building textbooks collaboratively and with open content. Right now, if you go to college you may spend (as I did) $500/semester on books that present propietary versions of material that is in the public domain! Intro to chemistry is pretty much the same in all the texts, and has not changed appreciably in decades and textbooks could be better as a linked-up hypertext than a hard copy anyways. Lets let the open source community be the first to make this happen. The costs associated with education further the digital divide, keeping the disadvantaged where they are. Dont expect the textbook companies to jump on this tho cuz obviously free online textbooks will take away their livelihood .. but if we have the knowledge lets share it in an approachable way so as many people can benefit from it.

Leave me messages at my talk page, or just come help build.

And oh yeah, I am currently a premed student at the Cleveland State University.
