Article Improvement Drive
Article Improvement Drive

This week's football improvement drive is part of the WikiProject on Football and is a fortnightly collaboration to improve football (soccer) articles to featured article status. Past collaborations are found on the history page, while removed nominations may be found on the removed nominations page. Previous winners that have gone on to become featured articles can be found at Featured collaborations.

Nomination and voting

Articles to be improved can be nominated by registered users in the "nominations" section below, with an explanation of what work is needed. To nominate an article, you can copy the template that you will below. Please do not nominate articles involved in edit wars. Each Sunday, the article with the most support votes is chosen. Opposing votes are not counted, the nomination is an approval voting. In case of a tie, the candidate that was nominated first wins. Articles need three votes per fortnight to stay on the list. You can vote for as many articles as you like. As with any other vote on Wikipedia, sockpuppets are banned.

Renominating

An article that is removed from the nominations list for failing to receive the required number of votes by the stipulated date cannot be renominated till one month after the date it is moved to the current removed nominations page.

FIFA World Cup, Association football and Premier League are currently Featured Articles.

Considerations for nominators and voters

  • Giving reasons as to why an article should become the Football AID may convince others to cast their vote.
  • Can the wider football community easily contribute to the article? Or is it something only a small number of people will know about?
  • Is the article one which you are prepared to work on?

Nominations

[edit]
The next project article is to be selected on Sunday June 24.

Please add new nominations at the bottom of this section.

Nominated June 24 2007; needs at least 3 votes by July 8 2007
Reason:

Needs a bit of cleanup and some expansion, but I reckon this could be a potential featured list with the addition of some more information and perhaps a change of format. WATP (talk)(contribs) 11:27, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nominated November 16 2007; needs at least 3 votes by November 30 2007
Reason:
  • Sparta Rotterdam is the oldest professional football club in the Netherlands, and up to a few years ago was one of only four clubs (along with Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord) to have played in the Eredivisie since its establishment in 1956. The club has won the national championship 6 times. It is also the club of the first Dutch football superstar, Bok de Korver. And on April 1, 2008, the club will celebrate its 120th anniversary. I think it would be a fitting tribute to have this article on the Main Page on that day. AecisBrievenbus 01:47, 16 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
