Coup is an American political thriller streaming television series created by David Stevanovic. It centres on a billionaire-turned-U.S. president as he works behind the scenes of Washington, D.C. to dismantle a global criminal enterprise consisting of politicians and entertainers. John Krasinski headlines an ensemble cast, accompanied by Ian Bohen, Diana Silvers, Linda Cardellini, Rockmond Dunbar, Elijah Wood, Patrick Wilson and Timothy Olyphant. The six 12-episode seasons were released on the last Friday of October between 2027 and 2032.
Premise
[edit]Mark Chamberlain (Krasinski), an ambitious, larger-than-life billionaire from Chicago, is groomed into running for president of the United States by the military in order to take down a worldwide organised crime syndicate that consists of politicians and entertainers. With the help of his vice president Randolph Watson (Bohen), secretary of state Orion Bauer (Dunbar) and journalist/love interest Kate Miller (Silvers), Chamberlain faces scrutiny from the American public, Congress, the mainstream media and even his own Cabinet as he plots a day of reckoning to bring members and associates of the mafia to justice.

[edit]- John Krasinski as Mark Chamberlain, the President of the United States, working to take down the mafia. Chamberlain was the chief executive officer of his shareholding company Chamberlain Holdings prior to his presidency.
- Ian Bohen as Randolph Watson, the Vice President of the United States and Mark's best friend. He previously served as the governor of Illinois and a state senator.
- Diana Silvers as Kate Miller, a journalist who becomes Mark's primary love interest throughout the show. She becomes the first lady of the United States when they marry.
- Linda Cardellini as Morgan Hopkins Watson, Randolph's wife and the second lady of the United States. She was previously the first lady of Illinois when her husband was governor.
- Rockmond Dunbar as Orion S. Bauer, a U.S. Army general who becomes the U.S. secretary of state under President Chamberlain. He previously served as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
- Elijah Wood as Ricky Lund, a U.S. Army lieutenant who becomes the U.S. secretary of defense under President Chamberlain.
- Patrick Wilson as Nicholas Redden, the former Vice President of the United States and the Democratic nominee for president in the upcoming 2020 election.
- Timothy Olyphant as Benjamin Wright, the former President of the United States who is one of the ringleaders of the mafia.
- James Gunn as Edwin McIver (seasons 1-2; guest season 6), the senior U.S. senator from Arizona and the Democratic nominee for president in the 2016 election.
- Jason Beghe as Marshall Jennings (season 1; recurring seasons 2-6), the former U.S. secretary of state and the Democratic nominee for president in the 2004 election.
- Victoria Justice as Taylor Newman (season 1), a Springfield bartender who sleeps with Mark during his early campaign. She is later kidnapped by McIver and forced to accuse her former lover of sexual assault in order to diminish his campaign.
