The 2024 Candidates Tournament will be an eight-player chess tournament, with the winner qualifying for the 2024 World Chess Championship match. It is scheduled to be held from 3 April to 25 April 2024.[1]

The format has not been announced yet, but every Candidates tournament since 2013 has been a double round-robin tournament.

  • The top three finishers in the 2023 Chess World Cup.
  • The top two finishers in the 2023 FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament.
  • The winner of the 2023 FIDE Circuit.
  • The highest-rated player in the January 2024 FIDE rating list, provided the player has played at least 4 classical time control tournaments eligible for the 2023 FIDE Circuit.
