Ermac is a character in the Mortal Kombat video game franchise.

About Ermac

Ermac has been a controversial and mysterious character in the Mortal Kombat universe ever since he was rumoured to exist as a bug in the source code of the first Mortal Kombat game (literally, an "error macro"). Some claim the character, which was just a red-colored version of Scorpion would appear with the name "ERMAC" in the health bar. In Mortal Kombat II, there was a cryptic message ("camre soed ton tsixe") that was a pun on this mystery, meaning "Ermac does not exist". He finally appeared in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 as a warrior composed of dead souls, an enforcer for Shao Kahn. He made his return in Mortal Kombat: Deception, now free to choose his own destiny.

Storyline

When he began his invasion of earth, Shao Kahn placed Ermac under mind control, finding his vast skill and telekinetic powers of use. Ermac served as one of Shao Kahn's greatest warriors, and one of the few of his higher officers to survive the invasion. However, after Shao Kahn's defeat, Ermac remained under his control, and without instructions, he wandered Outworld as a mindless warrior.

During events of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, Ermac was found by the blind swordsman, Kenshi. Kenshi used his enchanted sword and tai chi mastery to free Ermac from the mind control that was placed upon him. To show his gratitude, Ermac taught Kenshi the art of telekinesis.

Measurements

Height and weight are estimated from in-game appearance in Mortal Kombat Deception. Ermac's height and weight have not been officially listed.

  • Height: 5ft 10.25in (178cm)
  • Weight: 190lb (86kg)

Movie appearance

In the movie, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Ermac was one of Shao Kahn's high-ranking officers. Ermac was portrayed as a cunning and mostly quiet character, though he did not hesitate for the opportunity of a power grab at the apparent death of Rain. However, the position of general was awarded to Sindel. Ermac was eventually killed by Sonya Blade.

TV appearance

In the animated series, Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, Ermac had a one-episode appearance in which he and his army attempted to use a female ninja, Ruby, to defeat Jax and to lure the other warriors to their doom. Ruby proved to be true to her friends on the side of good, however, and Ermac's forces were defeated.
