Citizen Sunshine was born in the early 1980s and raised in West Los Angeles, California. He has two younger brothers, and an innenumerable quantity of cousins of variegated degrees, from first unremoved to third (thrice removed).

Mr Sunshine relocated to New York City, New York to attend Columbia College at Columbia University in 1999. There he served as the college representative to the President's Committee for Campus Security, appointed by the college's leader Lee Bollinger. He joined the Alpha Chapter of the Zeta Psi Fraternity in 2001, and served as its vice president in 2002. As a brother of Zeta Psi with qualifying grades, he was eligible for and subsequently inducted into the Order of Omega honors society for Greek undergraduates, and served as its vice president in 2002. He was graduated by Columbia College in May 2004 with a baccalaureate degree in both Psychology and Political Science. Beyond his degreed recognitions, he studied economics and Latin for several years. He matriculated at the Fordham University School of Law in 2005 and after service at its Urban Law Journal focusing on public policy, was graduated with honors with a doctorate in law in 2008. He presently lives in the Financial District of New York City, and is an appreciator of opera and a patron of the arts. He is only an occasional contributor to Wikipedia, and greatly appreciates its impact on society's interaction with data and information, and on the world at large.

At various times, Mr Sunshine has worked at the The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, California under the supervision of both military (United States Air Force) and civilian authorities; at the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, DC; for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York in the chambers of the Honorable Denise Cote; and at Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, the oldest law firm in the nation. He currently works at the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison as practice management counsel for the antitrust group, advising clients and fellow attorneys on legal privilege and confidentiality and assuring clients' successful compliance with regulatory requirements. As a practicing attorney, Mr Sunshine focuses on issues of privilege law and competition law in advising his clients and colleagues as a regularly published authority. He was on the legal team awarded the top honor, Matter of the Year, granted by Global Competition Review in 2014 for his representation of US Airways in its merger with American Airlines. He has been a shortlisted nominee for GCR case awards multiple times since.
