Pointless redirect

Stub started --Singkong2005 02:00, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Italic' text. Rather than a redirect, this article should be turned into at least a stub with meaningful content. -QuicksilverT @ 16:27, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

Created as stub

I've made a start - I can't do more for the next few months, , but I'll try and make the redlinks to point the articles - please help if you can. E.g. I can't find anything in Wikipedia to link to regarding water recycling. Aryaman Tandon

I had written the following, but I don't care about dis know if it's verifiable, so I'll put it here:

However, it can also be important where there is an abundance of water, as the excessive use of water leads to a large volume of wastewater which is harder to manage.

Cheers, --Singkong2005 02:00, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

even i couldn't find much information about water management....so ps include more information.

== Social tension ==heey. saiju simon is much more to be said about the tension between conservation/efficiency goals, and the community social goal of providing adequate life essential services to all people. One aspect is the ongoing battles about privatizing public water supplies around the world. That should be mentioned in this article, and linked to articles discussing in depth. Another aspect is the tradition in the US of requiring the landlord to provide water to tenants, at no extra cost. Is this changing in some areas of the US? What is the history and situation in other parts of the world? What ways of resolving this tension have been proposed and tried?-69.87.204.233 13:59, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

water-saving mechanisms for washing hands--how have public health experts

reacted to them, does anyone know about this? I've experienced in restaurants how frustrating they can occasionally be as the mechanism ages and it takes longer to provide less water, so I wonder if boards of health have voiced concern about impatient food workers etc leaving the bathroom without washing their hands. As experts have gotten more worried about possible epidemics, perhaps literature critical of the new faucets has appeared? Thanks, Rich (talk) 03:24, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

not that i know of. However, Elementary School Washroom Faucets in Ontario (not saying anything about Canada as a whole) have become frustrating to use, according to a friend of mine's son (and many others that I have asked around our community). He says: "I wish the water would come out faster! I spend, on average, about 10 minutes in the washroom, 7 of which are spent waiting for the water to come out fast enough to clean my hands!"

hmm, maybe this will get back to the people in Ontario. Thanks for your comment.Rich (talk) 13:26, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm considring adding an external link to: http://hotwaterlobster.com/blog/2010/12/04/water-conservation-defined/ . What are your thoughts? Valaprise (talk) 22:53, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

hot water recirculation valve

Why was “hot water recirculation valve” removed from the “Household applications” section? It was not spam. I believe it met all the proper criteria (including references) and added valuable information concerning “Water conservation”. Valaprise (talk) 18:59, 3 January 2011 (UTC)

You need a reliable source to add information to Wikipedia. The blog you used has no reputation for fact checking and accuracy, and hence is not a reliable source. ThemFromSpace 22:44, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

The reference sited is reliable source and provides a concise location for this broadly known information which can also be found in several other valid sources (Gas Appliance Manufactures Association, uspto.gov, toolbase.org, homeenergy.org, nachi.org, askthebuilder.com, greenhomeguide.com, centralplumbing.com, doityourself.com, finehomebuilding.com, plumbingengineer.com, and etc.) Valaprise (talk) 13:26, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

It is not a reliable source (check the link to see what is). On top of that, it just so happens to be the same link that you have been spamming. Apparition11 Complaints/Mistakes 20:07, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

Peer Review

Bmkitula (talk) 19:09, 17 March 2012 (UTC) I think you should talk more about why we need to conserve water, the goals were too general. I also think that we should also get more insight on what other places other than the U.K or U.S do to conserve water. Are there any world wide projects involved in water conservation? (examples). Maybe this can make the article more informative. koko1088- Your contribution so far is relevant, I would like to know what else you plan on including in the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bmkitula (talkcontribs) 21:57, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Water conservation and water efficiency are very similiar in nature. Even though there are many interesting and key points to this wikipedia page, it is lacking proper citations, as per wikipedia guidelines. This page might benefit from merging with water efficiency and expanding that page. Like a lot of other wikipedia pages noted within this class, you must continue to keep this project as factual as possible, in order to stray away from being a non-conformative wikipedia article. With the proper work and editing mentioned by these peer reviews, this article could contribute information and knowledge to the general public on the topic of water conservation and "efficiency".GSaundersLikeGlue (talk) 18:55, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

The external links to the American Water Works Association and the USDA link to pages that cannot be found. These external links should be removed or a replacement should be found. Also the first reference links to an article that has been archived and the page cannot be found. A new reference should be found. Here is a possibility.[1] Princessp (talk) 23:08, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Strategies/Policies

I feel like the strategies for water conservation should be expanded upon in more depth. It is higher up in the article because of its importance and relevance, but it lacks enough information. I also feel there should be an addition about the water conservation polices that were mentioned in the first sentence of the page. This could go more in depth as to specific types of policies or even example of how water conservation policies have been used in various global locations. Princessp (talk) 23:19, 4 November 2016 (UTC)

Water Conservation: Strategies Seciton

I think this article needs to expand on the strategies section. One way this section could improve is if it addressed different water policies in place that are effectively managing water for conservation. For example, explain some water resource management practices like recycled and reused waste water, or different strategies governments utilize for its citizens to reduce water consumption. Another topic that should be introduced is Groundwater. This is because managing groundwater properly is a large part of water conservation since groundwater resources are utilized for fresh drinking water. The article can expand to international water conservation and how, especially fossil aquifers in the middle east, are managed by international government bodies. For example, in the Tigris-Euphrates-Western Iran Region of the middle east, poor groundwater management has resulted in the loss of 143.6 km^3 volume of water form 2003 to 2009[2]. Temurimam (talk) 02:18, 5 November 2016 (UTC)

Problems, Solutions, and Current Practices

I think that this article could do a better job of clearly defining the problems and solutions associated with water conservation. For example, the management of groundwater contamination is a relevant topic to this article. There are thousands of groundwater reservoirs in the United States that do not meet drinking water standards because of contamination. [3] Another relevant topic that the article does not mention is water recycling and reuse. In terms of technology, this article is pretty outdated. It does not talk about any of the treatment technologies used to reuse water. This article should mention the current practices in place for conservation, such as desalination. [4] I also think that this article could cite more reliable and relevant sources that add substance to the article. There are only 16 citations, and I'm very certain there are have been a lot more studies on the subject. Lindsaybeatty (talk) 03:02, 5 November 2016 (UTC)

Suggestion to merge article "Wasting of water" into this page

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was to merge. Domdeparis (talk) 17:58, 16 January 2018 (UTC)

A suggestion was made to merge a short article Wasting of water into/with Water conservation. I am not sure how this could be done. Water conservation is an excellent broad/overview article on water conservation policy and strategies across major user sectors. The water waste article is of limited scope and is focused on defining and giving specific examples of wasteful uses of water in public water supply systems. It relates primarily to prohibitions and restrictions on urban water use during water supply shortages during a drought event. If the Editors decide to merge the two, please advise on the best ways of doing it.DziegielewskiBA (talk) 00:27, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

  • Support as above. Imo "Wasting of Water" is not really a viable article, and as a new pages patroller I'd look for a merge or redirect target.TheLongTone (talk) 17:07, 16 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Support @DziegielewskiBA: As per JFG. You just need to create a section in water conservation and introduce the important information. If I were looking for water waste I would naturally look in water conservation as it is the flip side of water waste. I'll close the discussion and let you deal with the merger. Peer Review submitted

Good evening, I just submitted a peer review detailing some of the things I loved from your content as well as the things I think are missing from your page. I enjoyed reading through your work, thank you for letting me access your content! My main points were to incorporate the images in a more visually appealing way and to incorporate more information about the appliances used for water conservation, the global designs/projects or governmental policies regarding water conservation, and the implications (cost, funding, resources) of conservation. Certain day listed is not real

Under the strategies section, it is mentioned that "World Conservation Day" is celebrated on March 22. There is actually no such event that exists which can be misleading. March 22 has been listed as "World Water Day" [1] which celebrates the importance of water and freshwater. Additionally, the day raises awareness regarding people who do not have access to safe water. Conservation of water is a very small aspect of it but is not the main focus of the day itself. --Eeshas13 (talk) 06:15, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Statistics with no sources

There are multiple statistics listed throughout the page which do not have any sources. For example, under social solutions, it is stated that "Dual flush toilets use up to 67% less water than conventional toilets"[1] and that "More than 40% of the world's population live in a region where the demand for water exceeds its supply." [2] There is no proof that these statistics are real and could be made up or altered to support the statement. By adding sources for specific statistical claims that are made, it will help strengthen the overall argument. In this situation, the statistics were accurate but just didn't refrence the sources. I found the sources that these statistics came from. --Eeshas13 (talk) 06:22, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

Main point is listed but not further explained

In the "Aims" section, there are three bullet points that broadly summarize the content. The first two bullet points regarding the availability of water and energy conservation are discussed in great detail throughout the page. The third bullet point about habitat conservation is merely mentioned but is never further explained. I think it is confusing to mention it in the main aims section and never discuss it. Either the bullet point should be completely removed or there should be a section discussing the relationship between water conservation and habitat conservation. --Eeshas13 (talk) 06:28, 25 April 2022 (UTC)
