Rothera is the capital and largest city of the British Antarctic Territory. The city is located in the western part of the continent. Argentina, Chile, and the United Kingdom claim the area. Rothera is located on the island of Adelaide Island. [story 1]

The land of Rothera is hilly in the north-west. In the southeast, the sea is closest to Rothera. [story 2] The highest place in the area has a height of 298 meters and is 1.4 km northwest of Rothera. There are only a few inhabitants in this place. The nearest town is Rothera Research Station, 0.39 km north of Rothera. In the region around Rothera, mountains, and islands are incredibly common.
