Kuma Reality Games
Kuma Games is a computer game developer. It has developered first person shooter (FPS) episodic games since 2004. The emphasis of Kuma appears to be blending the episodic gaming experience with other forms of media, in particular television. They have also created a number of machinima movies for their games, further blending different media forms.[1]
Kuma Games currently produces three major 'game-isode' programs. They are all currently free.
Kuma\War. This game takes information and strategic data from recent military operations and attempts to recreate the war scenario as it happened. This game has come under much praise and criticism for the role it plays in reproducing recent battles.
The second game featured is DinoHunters This game features the machinima mentioned above. The storyline is based on time traveling hunters that seek out prehistoric beasts. The machinima—along with some inter-game dialogue—adds a comedic element to the game.
Shootout!, is a game that is produced in conjunction with The History Channel program of the same name. The episodic games for this title mirror the episodes that air on The History Channel. Some of the battles recreated include Iwo Jima, the Tet Offensive and The Battle of the Bulge.
