Dr. T.SUMATHY (aka) THAMIZHACHI THANGAPANDIAN - Thamizhachi Thangapandian is well known Indian Politician, Tamil Poet, Lyricist, Orator, Writer and Performing Artist. She is the daughter of V. Thangapandian (died 31 July 1997), an Indian politician, then Minister for Cooperation, DMK Party District Secretary (Aruppukottai) and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu from Aruppukottai Constituency. Thangam Thennarasu the Minister for Department of Finance & Human Resources Development and Archaeology of Tamil Nādu is her brother. At present, she is a Member of Parliament (DMK) of 17th Lok Sabha elected from Chennai South Constituency, Tamil Nadu, India.

Political career

She is one of the prominent woman leaders and orators in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party. She contested in Indian general election, 2019 from Chennai South (Lok Sabha constituency).[14][15] Elected as Member of Parliament, 17th Lok Sabha.[16][17]
