Hurley is an English and Irish surname. In Ireland it is anglicised from the Gaelic Ó hUrthuile 'descendant of Urthuile', a Munster family of the Dál gCais.[1] Whilst the name is mostly of Irish origin, commonly found in County Limerick and Cork, Hurley is also English as a habitational name derived from Old English hyrne 'corner' + leah 'woodland clearing'.[2]
