Ugochukwu Uba

Ugochukwu Uba (born 22 May 1949) is a Nigerian politician and former senator of Anambra South Senatorial Zone.[1][2] He was also the governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2021 Anambra state gubernatorial election.[3][4] He represented Anambra South Senatorial Zone from 2003 to 2007.[5]
Early life and education
He hails from Nnewi in Anambra state Nigeria. He finished his primary and secondary school at Brilliant Primary and Secondary School, before moving to the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) where he graduated with Bachelor's of Science in Political Science. He later got his master's degree and doctorate degrees at the Queen's University, Kingston Canada.[6]
Career
He began his career as a lecturer in UNN where he lectured from 1984 to 1987. He later served as the Secretary-General of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).[7] He later joined politics and was appointed a commissioner in Anambra state. In 2003, he became a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and represented Anambra South Senatorial Zone till 2007. In 2021, he was nominated as the governor-elect of 2021 Anambra state gubernatorial election under PDP.[8]
