Hello, I'm I dream of horses. I noticed that in this edit to Mexican Open (badminton), you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks.  I dream of horses  If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message  (talk to me) (My edits) @ 14:09, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi I dream of horses! I removed the content in this edit because it was irrelevant with the content. The content that i removed should be in Mexico City International Tournament. Thank you {{U|I dream of horses}} --Stvbastian (talk) 14:15, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stvbastian, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Thanks for your work on the new badminton player articles by Muhd FUad. InsertCleverPhraseHere 06:36, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

They were not really acceptable as just basic user boxes, but I didn't want to throw the baby out wth the bathwater. I thought PRODing the articles was the best way to encourage the original writer to complete the articles and to prevent them from getting speedy deleted (which some already were). Anyway, thanks for stepping in and working on them. You might want to check out that user's other articles as many of them have been PRODed. Thanks again. I agree with you InsertCleverPhrase. I already working on some article, but the others already deleted. Anw, thanks for the barnstar.. --Stvbastian (talk) 16:42, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I was hoping to avoid a mass deletion, but the guy didn't listen to my advice and removed the PROD notices. InsertCleverPhraseHere 22:27, 3 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Badminton (Indonesian)

Hello, mau ajak ngobrol tentang badminton nih. Mohon pencerahan. Yang berantakan kolomnya, gan. Seeds(unggulan) kan ada delapan, Instead of 4-4 kolom jadi 5-3. Ini screen capture saya taruh di imgur 001. Ini yang saya maksud berantakan --> 002]. Yanuar W.H. talk 16:14, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Flags

Hi, for individual athlete articles (as opposed to articles with big tables and lists of sportspeople), I interpret MOSFLAG narrowly. In the end, it's probably optional, but I fail to see what a union jack adds to that infobox beyond being a decorative Xmas tree light. Problem is, some infobox flagicon usage ends up being garish and messy. Up to you. Tony (talk) 06:43, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Following further investigation, I am inclined to believe your explanation. I offer my sincere apologies for the amount of time it has taken for this to be dealt with. After my last post to this page, I posted an email to another administrator to ask for help, and I have been waiting for his reply, but it turns out he replied a while ago, and for some reason Wikipedia didn't notify me of the email. I use a different email account for Wikipedia than for other emails, I don't log in to the account unless there is Wikipedia email to read, so I didn't see the email until a few minutes ago. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 15:20, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If that is true, then there is a truly remarkable amount of similarity between your editing and that of another editor known to have used multiple sockpuppets. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 00:07, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi JamesBWatson, I know about the sockpuppets that you are talking about. It was funny when i equated with with that sockpuppets. I give you some example. Article that created by the sockpuppet 1 and article edited by me 1, sockpuppet 2 and me 2. Does it have the similarity?? Maybe on some articles last created by the sockpuppets have some similarity because he tried to follow my editing style. As you can see on my talk page section, he asked me to teach him how to create the proper articles. If there are similarity, it because all the badminton related articles have the same editing style, so it would becomes uniformity. Thank you Stvbastian (talk) 04:42, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
* I am removing your message above from the unblock request template that you put it in. As long as you have one unblock request open, it is not necessary to use the unblock request template for further messages relating to the block. In fact, all it does is give the administrator who eventually reviews your request a little extra work to do, closing two unblock requests instead of one.
* I have thought carefully about what you say, and looked at the editing history again, to see whether what you say seems plausible.
  1. The similarities in editing history go beyond just creating badminton articles with similar formatting and layout. There are various other coincidences, including at least one which is very unusual indeed.
  2. The conversation above, where one of the sockpuppets asks you to teach him or her how to create articles is odd, because that editor had already created hundreds of articles, over a period of five months. I find it difficult to see why anyone would suddenly ask another editor for tuition on how to do something which they had such extensive experience of. It is, however, very much the kind of thing that over the years sockpuppeteers who have repeatedly had numerous sockpuppets blocked have very often been known to do to try to throw suspicion off their latest sockpuppets: (1) pretend to be a new editor who doesn't know how things work, and ask for help, and (2) have a conversation between two of one's own accounts, because of a naive belief that nobody will imagine they would do that. Of course, that doesn't prove that you are the same person, but I'm afraid it does mean that the conversation is not convincing evidence that you aren't.
  3. Despite those comments, I will study the editing history again, to see whether I can find reason to believe that you are likely to be telling the truth, and I will also consider whether to consult a CheckUser for help. Unfortunately, I don't have time now to do that properly, and I don't wish to do a rushed job at it, but I will try hard to make time to do it tomorrow if I possibly can. Meanwhile, if another administrator reviews the unblock request and decides that you should be unblocked, he or she is welcome to go ahead without waiting for me to come back.
One more point. If there is evidence to support your case in conversations on this page or any other page, but they are in Indonesian rather than English, it is likely to make it much less likely that an administrator will be able to take the evidence into account. You can't expect an administrator looking at your editing history to spend time and trouble getting translations of every message to or from you on different pages just on the off chance that one of them may turn out to be relevant. This is, in fact, a good illustration of the reason why all content in the English language Wikipedia should be in English: there is no such thing on Wikipedia as a private conversation, and everything should be available for all members of the community to read. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 17:08, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi JamesBWatson, yes i know that she/he created hundreds of articles, but as you can see on his/her history and all his accounts, i think he didn't extensive experience to create the proper article. He always use his sign (4 tildes) on every articles that he created, sometimes didn't use the relevant sources, then he can't speak English better. In some articles, i working on it to be better articles before it deleted. Then i want to prove that it was not me by the IP address, but I was not skilled enough on it. One thing that you should know that his IP address came from Malaysia, and my IP from Indonesia. And for the conversation in Indonesian, I don't trying to make a private conversation, but he asked me first in Indonesia. I just trying to help him in Indonesian because i think he will better understand than English.Stvbastian (talk) 00:22, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
How do you know about what IP address the other editor used? The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 12:51, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I said that i want to prove that it was not me by the IP address, but I was not skilled enough on it. But based on his user page 1, user page 2, his IP address will came from Malaysia, while mine from Indonesia. One more point, I already used my account approximately 2 years ago and it doesn't have a problem until now. So, for what I wasting my time to create another account when mine was alright. JamesBWatson Stvbastian (talk) 13:51, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If it's any help, I'm familiar with Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Muhd FUad. I'm inclined to believe Stvbastian is telling the truth. I think it's disruptive that this user keeps re-creating deleted articles started by sockpuppets, but other than that, there's a lot that doesn't add up. This account is much older than the sockmaster and their English is *a lot* better. I guess they could have been talking to themselves this whole time to throw off suspicion, but honestly Muhd FUad never struck me as that sophisticated. There's also the fact that the two are supposedly from different countries, and to echo what Stvbastian already stated, why would they create a new sock account each time the last one is blocked when the Stvbastian account was unblocked and free to edit this entire time? Sro23 (talk) 02:00, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi JamesBWatson, thank you for inclined to believe my explanation, and times you have spent so this problem can be resolved. And thank you Sro23 for helping me with your explanation. There are also some articles that you have edited and deleted because of this case, and i hope it can be reverted back. Thank you. Stvbastian (talk) 17:26, 1 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have restored the pages I deleted. I see that you have already reverted many of my reverts of your edits, and a couple of them have been reverted by other editors, but I have reverted all of those where my revert stood as the last edit to the page. There may be a few reverts that are hidden behind other, unconnected, edits, but if there are any of those then they are very few, because for almost every one of the pages where I reverted, the last listed edit was either my revert or your counter-revert. About Tomohon

Hi Stvbastian, sorry my English isn't very good. I'm the editor of Tomohon in Chinese Wikipedia, I have some question about history of Tomohon.

  1. In first paragraph, "He described a heart-capturing country on the Minahasa highland" , what the country is? Is this a state (kindom) or just a countryside?
  2. In first paragraph, is the word "district" means "Afdeling", and "subdistrct" means "Onder Afdeling"?

Hope you can help me--xiliuheshuiMESSAGE BOARD 22:38, 13 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi xiliuheshui, actually i'm not expert about the history of Tomohon, but i'll try to answer your questions.
  1. The words "country" in the first paragraph translated from word negeri which only describes about a particular area, and does not associated with state (kingdom). City or village also called negeri at that time. I don't know if it can be associated with countryside.
  2. Based on the references that i found, District is a administrative area below the Regency, and based on the Indonesian Wikipedia Afdelling is equivalent with regency and Onderafdeling equivalent with district. I'm, not sure when Tomohon used Onderafdeling for the administrative, but since the onderafdeling and district are equivalent, i suggest you to use word "district". You can read Subdivisions of Indonesia, List of districts of Indonesia and List of subdistricts of Indonesia for the further informations.Stvbastian (talk) 06:12, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. You're welcome always. I think I'll stop now digging through badminton articles. If a situation arises again, ping me from here or drop me a line on my talk page. Could this IP editing have anything to do with the Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Muhd FUad SPI case? Just a thought. Did you liaise with User:Chrissymad, User:MrX, and User:Sro23 to hear what they think? Often we can smell a sock from a mile away, if we previously investigated a user's editing pattern and are familiar with their specific antics. Sam Sailor 11:04, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
According to what I have seen, this case has no relationship with the sockpuppet Muhd FUad. This unregister user have a different editing style and can manage in a good pattern, while the sockpuppet Muhd FUad only copy paste from the existing article. The sockpuppet also intensely editing about BLP related to Malaysia, while this unregister user editing about BLP related to Indonesia. Please let me know if im wrong. re: BWF Orleans Masters

firstly, thank you for providing the references, but it is better to wait till the tournament start. I'm also confused whether it is part of BWF WORLD Tour. on bwf world tour official website it stated that a circuit of 26 tournaments. there is nothing wrong in the article creation. it just that i'm removing the BWF WORLD TOUR template, as i think it is not part of it. it is part of BWF Tour. Bromalayan (talk) 01:26, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response Bromalayan. I understand about your edits by removing the temp since i'm also confused about the tournament structure on the official website. What i'm trying to understand on the official website that since the level 6 is not sponsored by the official sponsor of BWF World Tour, the site does not include level 6 into it. The sponsorship tournament named HSBC BWF World Tour, while the level 6 name BWF World Tour (not part of the HSBC BWF World Tour, but still the BWF World Tour). I also just found a source that clearly states that level 6 is part of the BWF World Tour: BWF World Tour Regulations "The BWF World Tour includes six levels of Tournaments with the following Tournaments annually : Level 1- Level 6". Thank you.. Stvbastian (talk) 04:39, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
yes. you are right. the thing seem clearer now. "HSBC Race to Guangzhou – a ranking for the following BWF World Tour tournaments only:". Reference: [5] Bromalayan (talk) 06:57, 11 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Swiss Open 1990

You are right, the source says 16th edition of LCDF International. Nevertheless here [6] the winners are listed as Swiss Open winners. Probably it counted also as Swiss Open in this year. By the way, how you find out the Badminton World Federation IDs like 73FF7FA9-A802-4A0E-80BC-37E4457A3F63 for new added players from tournamentsoftware.com? My way is not working anymore. Florentyna (talk) 20:41, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I just copied the ID from the Wikidata. I jst try to add Ade Resky Dwicahyo in Wikidata and for the BWF ID i found in bwfcontent.tournamentsoftware.com. It is hard to find the players ID since there is no Search player column in bwfcontent.tournamentsoftware.com, but i try to find his previous opponent that already have a Wikidata. i.e. Victor Svendsen. Click the BWF profile in infobox: BWF profile. Find and click the player that we are looking for in matches section, click the image icon (photo if the player hve their photo in tournamentsoftware.com site), finally you can find the players BWF ID. Stvbastian (talk) 23:55, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Big thanks for the help. Right now correcting Korea Open 1991 and Irish Open 1990 (there were 2 editions in 1990). Florentyna (talk) 07:50, 14 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Badminton

Hey, just a quick thing. Why is there a need for men's singles when we talk about a men's player. Of course singles refers to the Men's tournament. Same with doubles and teams. I left mixed in, to avoid confusion. Kante4 (talk) 10:52, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kante4, I understand what you mean, but, to be clearer and to avoid confusion, we should put it openly the intend of the words. Ill give you some examples. When you just put "Doubles" in badminton related articles, I will be confused with the meaning of that word. Is doubles means men's/women's doubles or mixed doubles, then when you just put "Mixed" there will be confusing between mixed doubles or mixed team, same with you just put "Team" there will be confusing between men's/women's team or mixed team. So, just put the real intention to be easy to understand.Stvbastian (talk) 11:33, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Just to be clear. When we enter "Singles" or "Doubles" it is clear what we talk about, because the article is about a men or women. Smae with team. I leave "Mixed doubles" or "Mixed team" in, to avoid confusion. Seems pretty clear to me. Kante4 (talk) 11:38, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thats just clear for you. But still cause confusion for me who have been following the development of badminton for years, especially for the new readers thats will be more confusing. To simplify, just used the title of the competition or the event whats the players competed. 2018 BWF World Championships – Men's singles clearly said it was Men's singles, 2018 BWF World Championships – Men's doubles clearly said it was Men's doubles. It is clearly doesnt cause confusion and immediately understandable. Stvbastian (talk) 12:23, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
So, reading an article about a male badminton player who not uses "Men's singles" is confusing because you/people may think he played in the women's competition? Ok, got ya. ...I just don't get what is confusing when just using Singles/Doubles, but ok i guess... Not sure what other editors think about this. Maybe a discussion would be good at the project? Kante4 (talk) 22:24, 4 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Kante4,, I don't think short just for few badminton articles, how about the others articles like Nur Izzuddin. When we change the "Men's team" in Asia Team Championships and Southeast Asian Games medals order to "Team", of course thats will be cause confusion, people will confuse if thats a men's team or mixed team, since in that article doesnt mention about mixed team in medals order. And for using only Singles/Doubles/Team thats will affect with the aesthetic of the articles, sometimes we just put only Singles/Doubles/Team and sometimes we provide complete information for Mixed team/Mixed doubles. So, to make it clear, just used events that has been arranged by the BWF organization, we dont need to shorten it.Stvbastian (talk) 03:07, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stvbastian!

I wrote that Asian Games' page according to the record on tournamentsoftware.com. The team list is showing his name Team:Japan. I also double check with that on Japan Olympic Committee's website 日本選手団 (also this one on badminton Japan [7]), we can also find Takeshita's name there. So I believe your quoted document maybe outdated. -Wongpong (talk) 03:51, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Macau badminton players

Hi, I added the category back for Zhang Dan because her name was registered in the competition and mentioned in the results book, I just checked the PDF results book to make sure, I think that means "participation" . even though that's not such a big deal but I just think it's better to keep that category in the article. Mohsen1248 (talk) 21:09, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mohsen1248, please check this article 澳门羽球女团宣布退赛 国羽直接晋级复仇韩国. In that article clearly stated that 3 of Macau badminton players (Wang Rong, Zhang Dan, and Zhang Zhibo) were disqualified and Macau team withdrew from the competition. So, based on the reference, We can find that those players did not competed at the 2010 Asian Games. So, we should not add category to avoid confusion. Stvbastian (talk) 22:02, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I know, I didn't question that part. our difference here is about the meaning of "participation", personally I consider registering and being in the results book as participation. in some sports when they disqualify someone they completely remove his name fro mthe report but that's not the case here. Mohsen1248 (talk) 22:09, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Articles in Wikipedia should not based on your personal consideration. Please check the meaning of "participation". Zhang Dan and Zhang Zhibo names are listed in the draw but they didn't took part or involved in the competition. That means they were not part of Badminton players at the 2010 Asian Games category.Stvbastian (talk) 23:02, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
well that was a rude response and I don't need a dictionary to know the meaning of that word. my English is not that bad lol let me give you an example. consider a team sport, some reserve athletes never play a single minute. did they participate in the Games or not ? Mohsen1248 (talk) 23:07, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Im not trying to be rude, just trying to open your minds based on sources tht i gave, not in personal consideration. In the team event in badminton, some reserve athletes that never play a single minute also participated in the Games. They took part or involved at the Games as sparring partner for the first team, and also took part in the opening and closing ceremonies. Reserve athletes that never play a single minute clearly different with the players tht already disqualified 5 days before the Games (See: 亞運開賽倒數5日 澳9人取消資格).Stvbastian (talk) 23:53, 3 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
the way you wrote that is NOT nice. but that's OK maybe just because English is not your language (same as me). but I don't need source for what I already knew. my point is being their names were included in the results book. Mohsen1248 (talk) 08:39, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Mohsen1248 This is why in Wikipedia articles, we should not be based on single primary source. We need more supporting secondary articles to prove the truth of something (WP:RS, WP:V). At this point, i already mentioned some sources above that proved that those players were not competing on the Games. Stvbastian (talk) 00:55, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I really can't understand what you are trying to prove. I never said you are wrong about the disqualification or not. I knew that. my understanding is whoever mentioned in official report is a part of the competition even if he didn't play a single minute. I just don't like double standards, still it's no big deal for me if you insist on it I'm fine. Mohsen1248 (talk) 11:40, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re: 2019 Walikota Malang Indonesia Masters

Kindly refer to second page of that reference. "Your players are invited to compete in Walikota Malang Indonesia Masters, has been sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation as part of the BWF Tour Super 100." Yuzu is a brand, as far as I concern no sponsor name are being put in the title of wikipedia article's. Not to be confused with Super 500 Indonesian Masters, hence the reason I put the venue; Malang in title as per usual in other tournament e.g. Lingshui, Akita. Bromalayan (talk) 14:38, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bromalayan, thank you for your response. Previously the 2019 Yuzu Indonesia Masters indeed named as 2019 Walikota Malang Indonesia Masters, but the title was later changed. You can check in BWF site. My suggestion, how if the title in Wikipedia use The 2019 Indonesia Masters Super 100, officially the YUZU Indonesia Masters 2019, is a badminto..... --Stvbastian (talk) 14:54, 8 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hai stvbastian, this is Fahrurozi.86. Thanks for your massage in my talk page.

Regarding the Czech International, I just adding the 2020 Kabal tournament according to related group that already in place. Thanks for reviewing it more and make separate subgroup to that article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fahrurozi.86 (talkcontribs) 01:23, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fahrurozi.86, yes you are adding the 2020 Kabal tournament to the International Series section. That means you are support the wrong thing and not doing factual verification. I also see tht you created Yukino Nakai and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri articles. Biographies of living persons must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source, but there is no sources tht you put in that articles (see: WP:BLP). So for your next edits, please doing some research and try to find reliable secondary sources. Stvbastian (talk) 08:30, 25 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Saina Nehwal

I updated Statistics and there is no need of confusion because all the data was crammed in one section previously which i've splitted it into 3 sections. You can check the stads with which i have updated articles. Also, Olympic Rings, BWF, AG and CWG Symbols are valid to use as per Wikipedia's terms and conditions, so i have added them. No worries :) Zoglophie (talk) 04:36, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zoglophie, may i know in which terms and conditions said that we can use the Olympic Rings, BWF, AG and CWG symbols in the medal template? As i can see in all sportspeople related articles, editors did not use symbol in the medal template (see:Manual of Style/Infobox badminton player). You also reverted my edits without any consensus and explanation, moreover, the career record that i put was updated per BWF released on 25 February (see: Nehwal: Difference between revisions). Your behavior violated WP:RV which leads to WP:EW. Stvbastian (talk) 05:34, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In the Article of Pv sindhu, there were all existing logos including South asian games logo and Commonwealth Youth Games Logo. A bot arrived yesterday or so and it found two of the last mentioned logos to be violating Wikipedia's policy and hence it removed them. It didn't touched the above 4 logos. It clearly means that it better knows about what are the terms and conditions of Wikipedia and hence the logos of OG, CWG, BWF and AG are still in use.

Now you said you've updated Statistics in accordance to the current version. May i know please if 18 th Feb is current or 25 th Feb is most recent? You are mentioning 25 Feb here but you've actually updated according to 18 th feb. Well that's actually not the matter because her rank is stable as 18 in the world. I did accepted my mistake and changed Taiwan to Chinese Taipei which you were telling me and i reformed it. Zoglophie (talk) 05:45, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not interested in any war here because i'm here to improve the article as better i can. Zoglophie (talk) 05:51, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry i forgot to mention you : Stvbastian Zoglophie (talk) 05:56, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Zoglophie that's just your personal understanding. Fyi, a bot removed the logos because it was directly not a free content material that violates copyright (see: WP:NFC). But, im not talking about a free or non-free content material. What i meant here was regarding the placement of the logo in the medal templates. There was a rule about using logo in Wikipedia. A logo may appear in the infobox of the main article on the subject the logo represents. For example, the main company logo may appear in the main article about the company,... (See: WP:LOGOS). So, as per WP:LOGOS, we should not put the OG logo other than Olympic Games articles, and etc,.
Yes i updated the current ranking: 18 and career record: 433 wins, 195 losses per BWF released on 25 Feb. I also explained my edits in edit summary, then you reverted my edits without any explanation in edit summary (See: my edits, your revision, and the link that talks about career record and current ranking in bwf.tournamentsoftware.com). And once again i said this is violates WP:RV.
Yes we all here to improves Wikipedia articles, based on WP:PG not on personal preference. You do not need to mention me, since this is my talk page. Stvbastian (talk) 15:22, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ok i understood and apologize for what i did. I reviewed what edit you made and found i was totally wrong to revert it. Hence i am reverting back my edit. Sorry! Zoglophie (talk) 15:57, 27 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zoglophie, Fylindfotberserk, Shanze1, NitinMlk, please take a look in Saina Nehwal and P. V. Sindhu career sections. I think, it is weird when biography articles divided every chrono in one paragraph, and also only one sentence in a paragraph. That section seems like lists (see: different list and prose). Since i didnt i find any guidelines that talks about that, please give your comments. Thanks Stvbastian (talk) 04:38, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it does look weird. I think we should not use more than 2 (or max 3) paragraphs in each year subheading. I suggest that we restructure the current list-like format into a prose like here in Ratchanok Intanon, if everyone agrees on that. Shanze1 (talk) 04:52, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looks overly long. That being said, I don't know how different Ratchanok Intanon is compared to those two, haven't checked that closely. Any GA or FA article to compare? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:09, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
We can compare to Lee Chong Wei article. As i know, only Lee Chong Wei who listed as GA for badminton biography articles. Shanze1, Fylindfotberserk. And since Zoglophie working on that articles, i hope you can take the guidelines from WP:BLP, WP:MOSBIO, WP:BETTER, so in the future Saina Nehwal and P. V. Sindhu will be listed as GA articles. Stvbastian (talk) 12:16, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'd like to echo what Shanze has said, more prose with proper citations. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:25, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! User:Shanze1 & User:Fylindfotberserk. Is the Article looking Satisfactory now? Zoglophie (talk) 14:43, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • I haven't read the discussion properly, but I guess it is about the large number of subsections under the Career section of the players. If so, that issue can be easily solved by combining the shorter, successive subsections together, e.g. see Kim Clijsters' Professional career section. - NitinMlk (talk) 11:55, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi NitinMlk, it is about the content in the career section that previously looks like a list not a prose (see:Saina Nehwal 30 March 2020). But, now it has been fixed by Zoglophie. Stvbastian (talk) 15:39, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK. - NitinMlk (talk) 13:05, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Players without any discussion

I think the title says it all. You are a senior editor in Wikipedia but this type of behavior is not wise. I can't understand the mentality behind removing the players from the Table. This edit is not 'Disruptive' what you mentioned in Edit Page. Tell me what's the problem? Zoglophie (talk) 04:38, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Except the Flag mistake (By me), same 'disruptive deletion' of h2h against several players is done by you in Tai tzu-ying's wiki page and without any talks before. I don't think this revert is meant with any good purpose or i think it's just for misuse of seniority in Wikipedia against the begineers. Waiting for a reply soon. Zoglophie (talk) 05:11, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zoglophie. It was disruptive since you did multiple 'publish changes' in one article. Especially, with your behavior by deleting then publish, adding content then publish, replace content then publish in one article section. You should concluding all your edits then publish. (See Wikipedia rules: H:PREVIEW). I removed some players from the table because they were not in inclusion criteria of the description (but after that you changed the description). You should propose your description section and list of players in WP:BADM to reach the consensus.
I also see that you corrected Tai Tzu-ying record against Yip Pui Yin and Akane Yamaguchi. But after i check again in TS, record between TTY and YPY was 9–0 (see: TTY vs YPY); and between TTY and Akane was 10–7 (see: TTY vs AY). May i know the source that you cite for that record? But remember, the record that we put, based on BWF sanctioned tournaments.
I don't feel senior here, i just want to help you with some rules on Wikipedia, so your next edits will be better. Editing based on Wikipedia's rules certainly will prevent your account from being blocked.Stvbastian (talk) 05:26, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know which outdated website you assisted me for checking my edit on h2h, but i prefer Bwf software for latest figures. Check bwf h2h tai tzu-ying. Here i haven't deleted or re-added anything, it was only addition of various figures in Table. Thanks, now i am member of Badminton project. Zoglophie (talk) 05:42, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

https://bwfbadminton.com/player/61427/tai-tzu-ying/head-to-head-analysis/?event=single&team2_player1=96312. Akane Y. https://bwfbadminton.com/player/61427/tai-tzu-ying/head-to-head-analysis/?event=single&team2_player1=51649. Yip PY. Zoglophie (talk) 05:44, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fyi, i used bwf.tournamentsoftware.com as my reference, and it was not an outdated website as you said. BWF tournament prospectus also linking to that website (example: 2019 French Open p.3). For Tai Tzu-ying h2h vs Akane Y, im not sure if we can count the result of 2014 French Super Series, since Tai Tzu-ying withdrew from the tournament. We should ask to another member to reach the consensus for using the bwf.tournamentsoftware.com (that doesnt count withdrew in h2h) or bwfbadminton.com (that including withdrew in h2h).
Yes you can adding various figures in Table which was agreed by another member. But, please dont published that one by one. You should concluding all your edits then publish as i said before per H:PREVIEW. Stvbastian (talk) 06:31, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Let me clear you, that, there is a difference between Withdrawal and another term 'Walkover'. Withdrawal has no entry in the player's site, while, walkover is equal to losing from that player. Hence, it is written as a 'Loss|L' in the site. Now, Against YPY, she has contested all the matches in History. Against AY, she left her one match (french open 2014) and it is stated as walkover since she hasn't withdrawn from that tournament. Check bwf official site.

Zoglophie (talk) 07:26, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Question related to Li Xuěruì, Carolina Marin and Zhang Ning. You people are active on Wikipedia for more than 1 year, still, you haven't created any Table related to H2H in these player's Wikipedia page. Now, you are questioning me on why i created that column? That's utterly ridiculous! Zoglophie (talk) 13:16, 3 March 2020 (UTC)

Wang Shixian career statistics - Wikipedia <- - This page should be merged with main page Wang Shixian - Wikipedia. What do you think? Zoglophie (talk) 17:28, 3 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It should not be merged. But we should improve both articles. For Wang Shixian page, need more information to be adding like early and personal life, junior career journey, senior career, awards and honours that she received, life after retired in badminton, and another information required. For Wang Shixian career statistics, need to improve to be like Lin Dan career statistics or Rafael Nadal career statistics. Especially both articles, less of sources, and need to added. We should discuss with another Badminton Project member, about section that should be added in career statistics in here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Badminton. @Zoglophie, i did not check again the h2h results since i know you are doing great about that, i just fixed the inline citation space, and added Bae Yeon-ju to the table. Stvbastian (talk) 15:15, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. This is a great comment for me! Zoglophie (talk) 15:27, 6 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Here comes others : Camilla Martin, Mia Audina, Bang Soo-hyun and Susi Susanti. One important thing that while i was adding details, i found some errors in the official website of BWF. It is highly unlikely to have errors on it but in details of h2h of These old players only, there were double entries for Olympic Game Tournaments Results. Likewise, if players met each other at 1996 Olympics, and one of them lost, so entry should be 0-1, instead it is entered as 0-2. I took care of these mistakes and please help for figuring out more if any remains! Thankyou. Zoglophie (talk) 04:32, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Zoglophie. Yes there were some errors in bwf data, like double entries, wrong results, and some other tournaments did not available. So this is why we need reliable secondary sources per WP:RSPRIMARY. Double entries also happen in 2006 Singapore Open (see: Pi Hongyan vs Mia Audina). Wrong results just like in 2008 Vietnam Open (see: Result 2008 Vietnam Open), bwf put Xing Aiying as the winner, but in most secondary sources said that Beiwen Zhang as the winner. And for Huang Hua, bwf changed her country representation as United States player after the 1992 Olympics, but after i checked in some secondary sources in Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia, she moved to US after the Uber Cup in May 1994, and there were no references that support that she played for US. She went to US for studying for only one year, after that she lived Indonesia until now. That means the 1994 US Open was the only tournament that she competed as US representation. In Chinese and German Wikipedia also did not put Huang Hua as US player. So i think, Huang Hua as US player did not meet in inclusion criteria, and in h2h table should be listed as Chinese player only (see: interview with Huang Hua). Stvbastian (talk) 06:47, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative Source

Is there any source available so that we can know about the Tournament results before 1989 or so? When i was watching YouTube, i found so many matches between different Chinese great ladies of 1980s but what a shame that bwf has no record about that! Is there any alternative Available in Internet to find out the results? Zoglophie (talk) 06:30, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Zoglophie unfortunately, there is no alternative website that can be used as a reference for h2h results. I think this is why some editors did not adding the "Record against selected opponents" section to players who played before 2007. Since some tournament results did not available in bwfbadminton.com and tournamentsoftware.com just like the 2002 All England Open, all the results of Thomas, Uber, and Sudirman Cup (im not sure with others tournament). When we adding the h2h results to players with incomplete results, will make the Wikipedia data looks inaccurate and raise doubts and confusion for the readers, just like in Li Lingwei and Han Aiping articles. So i think, "Record against selected opponents" section should be added to players with complete data (after 2007). Stvbastian (talk) 09:10, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think so too. I've just added Zhou Mi's data. Zoglophie (talk) 09:13, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Carolina Marin 2020

Hello, Stv. First and foremost I’ve been associated with Badminton for quite a long time professionally, so I don’t think I can screw or mess up with any of facts that I’ve presented before (you can refer to my edits for that purpose) and secondly, any edits that I’ve made so far have been cited well enough, with appropriate references. I’ve been associated with editing Carolina Marin since a long time, I keenly follow her throughout the tournaments, and so far I’ve always contributed for the improvements and updates. I admire, and also say, I’ve seen your valuable contributions constantly, and being a long time Wiki user, I don’t expect you to use words like ‘screwing and messing up’ for fellow Wikipedians. You could have simply asked me to reframe the references in accordance to your inputs. My edits, in no way, are non- constructive. Every thing that I’ve put in on that page is cited. Whether that’s necessary or not is another aspect. As far as HSBC World tour rankings is concerned, she has been ranked No. 1 recently, so it was acceptable to mention that accomplishment alongside. Before that, I never mentioned that myself. As for now, I would say I really appreciate your work and efforts, but please understand that Wikipedia is an open platform and there’s no place for competition here. Together, we contribute for the better. I’ll keep your edits, additionally with small changes to it. Thank you! Harshv7777 (talk) 10:56, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Harshv7777, i'm sorry i offended you. Please take a look in your last edits in Carolina Marín page, especially in the reference section (at the bottom of the article). You hve made errors in some references, because you changed the ref name. Then, i already arranged the template of citation per WP:CITEWEB, but you replaced that with beginners citation (See: WP:REFB). And, after your edits, you bring back the statement that said In June 2017, she was appointed as the Brand ambassador of Meliá Hotels, but, after i checked in some references, she has debuted as brand ambassador of Meliá Hotels since March 2017 (see: huelva24.com news). I dont try to compete with anyone, and as you said, i contribute for the better Wikipedia. Stvbastian (talk) 12:22, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I totally understand. I’m glad to hear that. There were some misunderstandings but now it’s ok. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Harshv7777 (talkcontribs) 18:09, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Stv, as I said earlier, I have made some small improvements to the page, with your reference arrangement as it is. I’ve added HSBC rank, and I will remove it if she steps down from No. 1 rank. Rest everything remains same. Harshv7777 (talk) 18:15, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Harshv7777, for the statement the World’s No. 1 in HSBC World rankings tht you hve added inappropriate to be including in the header of the article. You also added tht information without inline citation to a reliable, published source. And as you know Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion (read: WP:BLP). Fyi, there is no statement in any references tht said World’s No. 1 in HSBC World rankings, but what you mean is HSBC Race to Guangzhou rankings or HSBC World Tour Finals rankings. We must not confuse readers with terms that we make ourselves or based on our personal preference. That rankings used to calculate points to find out which players are eligible to play at the HSBC World Tour Finals. The essence of that ranking not about number 1 or 2, but whether the player can qualify to HSBC World Tour Finals. So, we should wait until all the BWF World Tour are concluded, then we can said that the players qualified to the World Tour Finals ranked as number 1 or 2. Stvbastian (talk) 07:15, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, now I definitely know that you’re very much adamant on your incomplete knowledge about this sport. As per your question, let me tell you that I had added citation and reference to the BWF rankings website, and to the media portal of BWF that you removed already before, in the name of arranging references, and now you are removing this ‘World No. 1 ranking’ in HSBC World rankings as if it is untrue. If you have the slightest of knowledge about the badminton and the rankings system, you should know that BWF grants two rankings simultaneously to each badminton player, and that ranking is clearly mentioned in the BWF official website that’s updated regularly. One is the World Ranking, and the other is World tour rankings. If the citation was missing, you could have simply added that to it, as a contributing factor. Rather, you’re just deleting it directly, knowing the fact that there’s nothing wrong in mentioning the ranking if she currently holds that. Unfortunately, this is not contributory and I will have to ask an administrator to intervene for help if this continues. Don’t be so biased. I know you’re from Indonesia, but please don’t be so one sided for an international player. Wikipedia is all about statistical, correct knowledge. You’re free to remove anything that’s wrong, but if someone is contributing alongside, with correct data, you should learn to respect that too. Also, please if you could improve your english a little bit, that would be so better of you, here on Wikipedia. Lastly, I would not want this issue to continue, and as a fellow Wikipedian, I would request you politely to understand that if she holds that ranking currently, there’s no harm in mentioning that accomplishment. Please do tell me here what I need to add alongside additionally to mention that world tour ranking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Harshv7777 (talkcontribs) 12:13, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please check the link that you added [11]. The title clearly said that it was HSBC Race To Guangzhou rankings not HSBC World rankings as you cited (see: youe edits in Carolina Marín article. And once again i said that the essence of that ranking is not about the players become the world number 1 or 2, but whether the player can qualify to HSBC World Tour Finals or not. So, you should wait until all the BWF World Tour are concluded, then we can said that the players are qualified to the World Tour Finals ranked as number 1 or 2, not in header section but in career section. But, if you really want to adding that information, you can make edits in career section with statement, She occupied the HSBC Race to Guangzhou rankings number 1 (or HSBC World Tour Finals rankings number 1), after won the ... tournament in January 2020. I think you can arrange better sentences about that. Stvbastian (talk) 12:44, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Li Lingwei, Han Aiping & Mette Sørensen

Hey Stvbastian, can you please contribute to these mentioned articles, especially Mette Sørensen, this one is very short (Stub). Zoglophie (talk) 12:43, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Zoglophie Please do not remove the achievements section or players career achievements, as you did on Gillian Gilks, Han Aiping and Li Lingwei articles. Infobox or header only the summary for all information that mentioned in the articles. Please revert your edits and take a look on Saina Nehwal and P. V. Sindhu articles as an example. Stvbastian (talk) 15:37, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

But All the Major results are put in the infobox, just asking? Zoglophie (talk) 17:41, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

CSC & TTY

Before you reverted my edit, you should have checked the country or nation CSC and TTY belongs too. Their nationality is Taiwanese and you can see this mentioned in most of the other Taiwanese articles. Check Chou Tien-chen , I haven't edited it yet, there It clearly shows the flag of Taiwan . If you have further problems you can ask the 3rd party about this. Thanks Zoglophie (talk) 19:10, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

One more thing, they represent Chinese Taipei in International sports and it is mentioned in the Infobox below. Thankyou. Zoglophie (talk) 19:12, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Zoglophie I have understood about nationality and country representation of Taiwanese people, since im the one who told you about that before (see your talk page). You edited what was right to be incompatible with Wikipedia's rules. 1. flag icons should not be used in infobox; 2. linking ROC and Taiwan to the same target in one line. That is not according to Wikipedia rules MOS:REPEATLINK and MOS:INFOBOXFLAG. Stvbastian (talk) 01:18, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You should clear the distinction between nationality and country's representation. See Chou Tien-chen and enlighten yourself thankyou. It is not at all incompatible with Wikipedia rule since you have to put the countey's flag beside it's name. ROC & Taiwan are same, read in Wikipedia. Zoglophie (talk) 02:12, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have the good example of Chou Tien-chen. Zoglophie (talk) 02:17, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

According to MOS:INFOBOXFLAG, appropriate use of Flagicons is okay so as to represent the Nationality of someone. What's your point? See Stvbastian, you are experienced editor and it is expected that you need to be clear about what you edit or revert. You are someone i have always trusted upon and believed. You have to be clear about what you are saying. Read these rules yourself. This time, if you will revert my edit, i have to arrange an admin so he/she/it can guide you well. Thank you. Zoglophie (talk) 02:25, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Zoglophie See paragraph 4 of MOS:INFOBOXFLAG: "the infobox may contain the national flag icon of an athlete who competes in competitions where national flags are commonly used as representations of sporting nationality in a given sport." And fyi, Republic of China or Taiwan flag did not use in the sporting competition especially in badminton. Stvbastian (talk) 04:55, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you are missing the point, go through my statements i made and read this rule again. ThankyouZoglophie (talk) 04:59, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Tang Jianhua

I always think that in articles about badminton players, or any similar athletes I suppose, it's a good idea to include something about their playing styles, strengths, and even weaknesses. If you could find something along those lines for Tang Jianhua, as you did for Kevin Sukamuljo, it might improve the article. To these seventy year old eyes she looks awfully cute, but those kinds of observations are now discouraged, especially in encyclopedias. 70.181.40.210 (talk) 20:00, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BWF World Championships medalist question

Hello. I was wondering why you undid my edit to List of BWF World Championships medalists. At Mark Christiansen, it says he paired with Michael Kjeldsen to win bronze in 1985. Also, at Kjeldsen's page, it links to Mark Christiansen without the disambiguation. Thanks! --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 18:33, 10 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MrLinkinPark333, based on this revisions, you linking the article to Mark Christensen (a studio owner and Chief Mastering Engineer at Engine Room Audio in New York City) not to Mark Christiansen (a badminton player). Stvbastian (talk) 05:44, 11 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Chien Yu-hsiu or Chien Yu-hsun in 1996 World Junior Championships

Sorry, I just undo my reply. I think Chinese record is more convincing in this case, Because 'Hsiu' and 'Hsun' is hard for non-Chinese people to identify their sound and spelling. I'll try my best to find more information about detail of this tournament, thanks.Terry850324 (talk) 03:10, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Terry850324 I also tried to verified tht information, but it is quite difficult, because Huang Shih-chung also partnered with Yu-hsiu and Yu-hsun in his early career based on Tournamentsoftware.com. So, it would be great if you can find Chinese articles tht released at the time when the 96 WJC held. Stvbastian (talk) 04:34, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Huang Zhanzhong

Hi. You've removed a ton of references here - why? Please do not remove sourced content from a WP:BLP. Thanks. Lugnuts Fire Walk with Me 16:34, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lugnuts. Most of tournament results statistics already available on sources in the external links that i added per WP:GENREF. Moreover, those references are only a primary sources. And, if you think there are some mistakes in my edit, you should not revert all the contribution in that article. There were some secondary sources that you removed in that article. It would be great for blp articles supported by reliable secondary sources per WP:BLP. Stvbastian (talk) 16:56, 23 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

1987 Asian Badminton Championships

Based on German wiki, I made the article for 1987 edition of Asian Championships in which only men's team competitions is given. However here in Badminton Asia Championships, the Individual Champions are also given. Even with a deep reasearch, I couldn't find the Individual competition results anywhere in the month of December, 1987. Can you please look into this problem. Thank you.🌌Zoglophie🌌 07:08, 11 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Zoglophie, I think there is no individual event for 1987 Asian Championships. The results tht they put in the table was a result of 1987 Konica Cup – The Invitational Asian Badminton Championships (part of Singapore Open). Maybe, Florentyna can help with more explanation about tht.Stvbastian (talk) 01:25, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Correct, same like 1988 there were some inofficial Invitational Asian Badminton Championships, see de:Konica Cup 1987; de:Badminton-Asienmeisterschaft 1988. --Florentyna (talk) 04:58, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Florentyna so will it be ok if I put the results of Konica cup in 1987 article? 🌌Zoglophie🌌 06:28, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would only mention the fact of the existence of the Invitational Asian Badminton Championships in one or two sentences. Better would be a separate article, one is getting elsewise into trouble due to different locations, assignments to Wikidata etc. --Florentyna (talk) 06:43, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes we should not put the results of 1987 Konica Cup to 1987 Asian Badminton Championships article. But, we can create a new article of 1987 Konica Cup, and mentioned in that article that the tournament was an inofficial Invitational Asian Badminton Championships. Lorraine Cole

While checking Iceland International 1993 result, I found player named Lorraine 'Thomas' , I think she is Lorraine Cole only, because her partner given in the table is Dave wright, which matches that of Lorraine Cole. However I'm not aware of Kerry McKittrick with whom she won women's doubles in the same tournament. Can you please research. I did Google search but results were not satisfactory. Thanks 🌌Zoglophie🌌 17:46, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Stvbastian. I found some source saying that IBF organised it's first ever "Open" tournament as English Masters 1979 so I think we can categorise some tournaments as "Open" or "International" depending upon the classification. Thanks. 🌌Zoglophie🌌 12:50, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Zoglophie. Im not sure about that. Because, in 1979 there were 2 world badminton organization, and lack of information that we can use as references. I'm just worried, if later we will only use our personal preferences, to categorize "A" tournament as Open or "B" tournament as International. But, if you find more references about that, it can be consideration.Stvbastian (talk) 15:46, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

U17 championships

As per consistency, we generally do not mention U15 and U17 results in biographies of badminton, also, it does not constitute to bwf rankings what it's successor U19 championship do. Question is that is making 2021 European U17 Badminton Championships and 2009 European U17 Badminton Championships notable enough to be included in Wikipedia? If it's not, shall I start it's deleted discussion? Your opinion matters. Thanks. zoglophie 16:10, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also: The separate articles U15 and U17 European Championships should be merged with European Junior Championships. See Asian Junior Badminton Championships. zoglophie 16:51, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We can mention U15 and U17 results in career section in biographies of badminton and should be supported by reliable sources, but they were not a notability standard of WP:NBAD. For individual games just like 2021 European U17 Badminton Championships (Junior tournament), there were no particular notability guideline. Basically, individual games or events should be meet WP:SIGCOV, WP:SPORTSEVENT. And, im not sure to merge U15, U17 European Championships and European Junior Championships, since those articles meet WP:GNG. Maybe, you can start a discussion in WP:BADM or WP:SPORTS to ask another user who more understand about the guideline. Thank you. Stvbastian (talk) 02:17, 29 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sources’ mistakes

Dear User, Eko Irawan is not a full name but the usual name according to Olympedia and Sports Reference. This last site was the better site for all Olympians (until he was closed). I have seen only once a mistake in SR. You may confuse with the fact that Irawan has also a complete official name that federations prefer to use especially in countries where homonyms are usual or maybe possible. For example, all the US Olympians have a middle name, but very few of them, are called by their full name. I do not speak Bahasa Indonesia and I just know that some Indonesians do not even have family names (it depends on culture and ethnicity I suppose). So thank you to have informed me, but you gave no major sources justifying that in ENGLISH, we should act differently as SR does. Thanks for attention.--Arorae (talk) 09:49, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Arorae, thank you for your response. This is not about full name or usual name or family name. But, which name is used more in articles on the internet. Ex: i tried to search Eko Irawan in Olympic Channel, but the results shown was Eko Yuli Irawan. Eko Irawan in Indonesia newspaper in English, the results shown was Eko Yuli Irawan. And most of articles in internet did not shortened Eko Yuli Irawan to Eko Irawan. Thanks for attention. Stvbastian (talk) 12:00, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
sorry to insist, but you seem to have no idea of Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people) and the fact that SR and Olympedia are first quality sources on naming.--Arorae (talk) 12:39, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Arorae May i know which WP said that SR and Olympedia are first quality sources on naming? What i got in WP:NCP is "the name used most often to refer to a person in reliable sources is generally the one that should be used as the article title". Most of reliable sources cited as Eko Yuli Irawan not Eko Irawan (please check on your search engine). See also WP:STAGENAME because the stage name is Eko Yuli Irawan not Eko Irawan, interwiki and pages link. Stvbastian (talk) 13:43, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Badminton at the World Games

If we look at this page and then this one, there is actually no difference between them, and as Badminton was already played just once at the World Games, is there really any need of that article/page? Any description needed can be put in Badminton at the 1981 World Games rather than going for aforementioned page. So I'm saying will redirecting the page to 1981 be a possibility or not.? Thanks zoglophie 18:45, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zoglophie, maybe there is a missing link in the first sentences. Stvbastian (talk) 02:08, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I want to say that should I redirect the whole Badminton at the World Games to Badminton at the 1981 World Games for obvious reasons mentioned above. zoglophie 04:32, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Mmm, im not sure about that, because there were some interwiki in both articles.Stvbastian (talk) 22:25, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, sir. First of all, im very sorry if you can't or hardly understand what im going to say because my English is not good. About my minor edit in Sayaka Hirota and Yuki Fukushima page, i want to ask is there something wrong, sir? Esaeldei (talk) 04:15, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Stvbastian and thank you for your edits to this article. I come to you with a few questions regarding style and content. Firstly, I am perhaps the first and only wikipedian to contribute to wushu on a serious level, and throughout my time I have usually gone without feedback on what I do. I am currently in the process of making stylistic edits across various pages on individual athletes so I find your changes relevant to me today.

Firstly, you fixed the overlinking on Edgar's page in the infobox. I must say that I have wondered for a while why pages like Simone Biles do the overlinking while Michael Phelps does not. Perhaps someone experienced like you could bring that up to discussion? I just overlink because that is what all the wushu athlete pages did before I started editing.

Secondly, you addressed the removal of the national games medals earned at the 2021 Pekan Olahraga Nasional from the infobox. While I agree with the common sentiment that medals earned at national championships of a single sport do not belong in an infobox, I have some things to address which is why I feel that competitions such as national games may be exempted from this. Why is it that medals earned at NCAA championships/tournaments can be featured in an infobox (not to mention that US universities have their own fancy banner in place of country (school) represented) while medals at some national games do not? Not all NCAA athletes become professionals and they are only competing at a collegiate level, while national games feature a country's best athletes where some are professionals. It is explicitly because of this NCAA exemption from the national titles/championships rule that I question this. Perhaps to fix this issue, do you propose there to be a medal table in wushu athlete pages? No wushu athlete page has one currently, but some older articles used to have one.

Thanks for all of your contributions to this site. Yinglong999 (talk) 05:44, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Number of editions

It is written in 2019 Badminton Asia Championships that it was the 38th edition of Badminton Asia Championships. However in the prospectus, I cannot see anywhere if that is mentioned so about the number of edition. It is only in recent months we're able to find out something about 3-4 unofficial editions of Asian championships. My question is shouldn't we change the number based on either counting both unofficial and official competition, or, just official ones which looks more appropriate? Thanks. zoglophie 19:27, 21 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Zoglophie I do agree to counting only the official ones for the edition of Badminton Asia Championships. Stvbastian (talk) 01:12, 22 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks in your part for the investigation. I had no idea that one of the confirmed socks, "HearUnitedSing" had been CU confirmed as I have seen that name on the list of changes I sometimes view while I use Wikipedia. That certainly looked more likely than the Greatminton sock which you'd suspected. I should keep an eye out on any further usernames which heavily relate on Manchester United articles and see if I suspect more sockpuppetry going on. About your edit

Thank you for correcting my mistake on Rena Miyaura. However, for birth place and date, I found those information at the tournament software page. I believe all birth dates and places do not require sources, as the official biography page is already provided in the article. Nevertheless, thank you for providing more information and a reliable source. Also P.S. please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Notability (sports). Thank you very much. Timothytyy (talk) 00:10, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Timothytyy yes, we do not need to put sources in infobox when the official biography page is already provided in the article. May i know where in Tournament software said tht Rena Miyaura was born in Japan? Thanks Stvbastian (talk) 22:48, 31 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

About your revert of my assessment

Thank you for correcting my assessment at He Bingjiao. However, do you understand the B-class criteria? How B is different from GA, A and FA? Even FA articles cannot achieve "every sentence has a source"! The article has at least one reference per paragraph; mostly a reference is seen every sentence in the career sentence. The article provides a good summary of her career and her achievements, so why not B?

Also, please DO NOT rate every article as low-importance. If you do that, there will be no difference in all articles and the importance scale will become useless. Formerly/Current top 10 players should deserve a mid, top 3 players should deserve a high, and Olympic champions with former World No.1 should deserve a top. He Bingjiao, as a 2-time Super 750 champion, Olympic semi-finalist and current rank No.5, deserves a mid. Timothytyy (talk) 00:20, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yup your welcome.. Assessment for B class --> mostly complete and does not have major problems, but requires some further work to reach good article standards. "Formerly/Current top 10 players should deserve a mid, top 3 players should deserve a high, ..." Lol... who said? You? Don't create your own rules on Wikipedia! Timothytyy Stvbastian (talk) 01:26, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's my assumption, there are no rules for importance scale, I am just noticing that you mark every article as low. Importance is a scale, if there is no difference, what is the point of creating an importance scale? Timothytyy (talk) 02:01, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Timothytyy Lolll... wake up dude.. don't make any assumption on Wikipedia. You r judging me without data.. loll.. Stvbastian (talk) 02:25, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok if you don't make any assumption then what is YOUR criteria for the importance scale? Giving everything a "low"? I am very interested. If there is no difference, what is the point of creating an importance scale? My assumption is based on research, e.g. Fajar Alfian, Liu Yuchen, Tai Tzu-ying, Huang Dongping high because formerly no.1, Yuta Watanabe high because of top 3, Han Yue, Kim Astrup mid because top 10. Timothytyy (talk) 02:29, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you also explain why you assessed Yuta Watanabe (badminton) as GA without nominating it? The sourcing condition is even worse than He Bingjiao. Also giving you an example from the guidelines page: Human. Can you see how many cn templates are there? Do I need to count it for you? Please read WP:BCLASS. Timothytyy (talk) 02:50, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Timothytyy "Giving everything a "low"?" Check Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, Greysia Polii, and Wang Yilyu talk pages or other articles that i assess. Judging others without data.. loll... This talk page is not a place to discuss about the assessment for article. Take a sip of water and if you are calmer and your opinion does not make personal assumptions without judging others,, feel free to ask me questions or discuss to improve Wikipedia articles.. Stvbastian (talk) 03:03, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
My only purpose is to explain why your revert was wrong. He Bingjiao passes WP:BCLASS and I already gave an example of Human to prove that I am right. Please read WP:ASSESS to understand the difference between A and B-class articles. He Bingjiao deserves a "Mid" so I don't understand why you reverted that. She is much important than Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja which you gave for example. Timothytyy (talk) 03:08, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Timothytyy Those example for ur statement "Giving everything a "low"?".. WP:ASSESS? I managed to create 3 articles as GA (see: Greysia Polii, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, Carolina Marin). I will discuss about the assessment after you clarify about your statement "Giving everything a "low"?".. Stvbastian (talk) 03:22, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I finally understand why you use lolll and wake up dude, you are arrogant because you created three GAs. I hope you still remember that you marked Yuta Watanabe as GA without any nominations. I admit that Giving everything a "low" is a wrong statement. My purpose was to ask you why you opposed me to mark He Bingjiao as mid-importance. However, do you think Greysia Polii has a reference every sentence? You see, according to your reason for reverting me (some sentences don't have references), Greysia Polii isn't even a B-class article! I hope you think again about B-class criteria. Anyway, I don't want to argue with you, we are both active WikiProject Badminton players, we need coorperation. Can you help me assess Shi Yuqi as an A-class (not GA) article? Thanks a lot! Timothytyy (talk) 03:34, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Timothytyy You dont want to argue with me but you said im arrogant... Hmmm Have a mirror? Or should i buy 1 for u?. don't twist the facts.. you are the first to look so arrogant here with judgmental statement and using all capitalized " do not and your". If you want to ask a question, try to speak well, not arrogant, not judgmental, and don't make personal assumptions. That's where I will also answer your question wisely. || You asking me to read WP:ASSESS, yup i've read it so many times before i create GA years ago. You asking about Greysia Polii assessment status? ask editor who promote the article to GA, not me.. || He Bingjiao badminton importance and Watanabe GA--> my error. || He Bingjiao why not rated as B--> mostly uncomplete, lead too short, achievements section no sources at all. B article is for article that need some further work to reach good article standards. Since He Bingjiao article need more sources and improvement from lead to body, the article did not meet B criteria.Stvbastian (talk) 04:23, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am very, very sorry for using CAPs, I admit that you are more experienced than me, yeah you made 3 GAs, I know that n months ago, understand your revert now. Just quite surprised why you use lol and wake up dude these informal languages. Anyway, can you please help me make Shi Yuqi an A-class article, and also take a look at User:Timothytyy/sandbox/Shi Yuqi? I will be honoured to be helped by you. Thanks! Timothytyy (talk) 04:47, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i didn't said tht im more experienced than u by creating 3 GA. I mentioned about the GA since u talking about "assess". Before i nominated an article to GA, oc i have read how to assess the article. Why i use informal language: because u made personal assumption, judgmental, arrogant, and didn't try to speak well in the beginning. Stvbastian (talk) 09:59, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Singaporean athletics

Hi, Thank you for your message. The reason I did the change and there are other athletics also include the city name as other countries have big states unlike Singapore which is to small to have a state. You may want to check out the other athletics that have been placed in state which I did not change.219.74.63.217 (talk) 15:13, 12 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
