Early life

Lisa Jane Vanderpump[1] was born in Dulwich, London,[5] on 15 September 1960,[2] the youngest of two children to Jean,[6] and ad agency art director,[7] John Vanderpump.[8] Her older brother was Mark Vanderpump, a DJ and businessman.[9]

Vanderpump started ballet lessons at the age of three. She attended Riverston School in Lee Green, South London.[7] She was enrolled in the Corona Academy drama school at the age of nine.[10]

Vanderpump had bought herself a flat in Fulham, West London, by the age of 19. She was financially self-sufficient after leaving home, with "just a good education and a kick in the arse."[7]

Career

Vanderpump made her film debut at the age of 13, as an uncredited extra in the 1973 romantic comedy A Touch of Class. She portrayed Julia Allessio, the daughter of Glenda Jackson's character.[11] Her credited film debut was as Anne in the 1978 horror Killer's Moon.[12]

Vanderpump and Todd have accumulated a large and very successful portfolio of restaurants, bars, and clubs since 1995. They sold four of their bars to the Trocadero group in 1998 for £10.5 million. They owned numerous establishments before moving to the United States, including The Shadow Lounge, Bar Soho, a Cheers-themed megabar, and Jewel.[16][14][17][18] They partnered with another husband-and-wife team, Guillermo Zapata and Nathalie Pouille Zapata, to become co-owners of SUR Restaurant & Lounge, in 2005.[19] They opened Villa Blanca in 2009, and closed the establishment in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic.[20] They opened Pump Restaurant in 2014, and closed the establishment in 2023.[21] They partnered with duo Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz as co-owners of Tom Tom Restaurant & Bar, in 2018.[22] They opened Vanderpump Cocktail Garden in 2019.[23] They opened Vanderpump à Paris in 2022.[24] They are set to open Wolf by Vanderpump in Winter 2023.[25]
