Boycott calls
No attention to Taylor Swift’s Tweets calling for a boycott of the ceremony and all broadcasters airing the ceremony after her “clear and obvious exclusion” from the ceremony despite “the best picture ever made in All Too Well, Dr. Swift’s direction in said film AND Dr. Swift’s gripping portrayal In Amsterdam that will redefine drama instruction for generations?” Choppinbroc (talk) 14:08, 24 January 2023 (UTC) XD Espngeek (talk) 19:17, 24 January 2023 (UTC)

Ireland, 3rd country to have 5 acting nominees in the one year
Ireland has become the 3rd country to have 5 or more acting nominees in the one year. (The USA and UK are 1st and 2nd)
"Only the United States and Britain - with populations and film industries that dwarf Ireland's - have been represented by five or more acting nominees in a single year in the awards' near 100-year history, according to Reuters calculations." 109.76.14.194 (talk) 18:41, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
Mention Andrea Risebourough's Nomination?
Andrea Risebourough's Oscar nomination has caused quite the stir because of the unorthodox way it was campaigned for: the Academy even convined its board to look over the process and allegations. My Question: Should we mention this in the article? And, if so, how? Inspector Semenych (talk) 21:27, 2 February 2023 (UTC)

Box office information
Hey guys, I was wondering if someone can enter in domestic box office information for this year. I know it wasn't done the past 2 years due to obvious reasons (COVID) - but I do feel it's noteworthy this year since apparently the domestic total gross at the time of nomination (January 24) is the highest in history - beating 2009's record of 1.5 billion. Derekdirk5 (talk) 04:16, 4 February 2023 (UTC)
- Forgot to add the article/sources in my comment.
- 2022's total is 1.574 billion, beating 2009's record of 1.519 billion.
- Domestic grosses at time of nominations announcement: Top Gun: Maverick 718.7 million / Avatar 598.4 million / Elvis 151 million / Everything, Everywhere All At Once 70 million / The Fabelmans 15 million / The Banshees of Inisherin 9 million / Tar 5.6 million / Triangle of Sadness 4.2 million / Women Talking 1.1 million / All Quiet on the Western Front N/A due to Netflix-only release.

Missing wikilinks [fixed ✔️]
Would someone please add the following two links:
Both An Irish Goodbye (film) and The Red Suitcase in the Best Live Action Short Film category have Wikipedia entries the titles should be linked to.
(And both Ivalu and Night Ride (in the same category) are also unlinked, but I couldn't find any Wiki entries for those two yet.) Silverscreened (talk) 08:45, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Done. DRMcCreedy (talk) 23:20, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Great. Thanks. Silverscreened (talk) 00:29, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
Wikilink for Ivalu [fixed ✔️]
There's now a wiki entry for Ivalu (film), so please link this title in the Best Live Action Short Film category.
(And then only Night Ride remains unlinked). Silverscreened (talk) 06:06, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
Wikilink for Night Ride [fixed ✔️]
Turns out even Night Ride (2020 film) had a stub entry, so please link this final title as well. Thanks! Silverscreened (talk) 07:41, 17 February 2023 (UTC)
Error in Winners and nominees
The section on Winners and nominees states that "Additionally, paired with Yeoh's Best Actress nomination and Ke Huy Quan's Best Supporting Actor nomination, it marked the first time that Asian actors were nominated across multiple acting categories in the same year."
This information is false. The 93rd Academy Awards (2021) saw both Steven Yeun (Korean-American, born in Seoul) and Youn Yuh-jung (South Korean) nominated in different acting categories, both for their work on Minari. It may be the first time that there are Asian nominees in 3 different categories (I haven't verified that), but it is not the first time that there are Asian nominees in "multiple acting categories". Okay, it is on March 12, 2023.

John Williams' age
The article says John Williams became the oldest ever nominee in any Oscar category, at age 90. But 90 was his age when the nominations were announced, and he turned 91 between then and the day of the ceremony. The sentence currently reads as follows:
At age 90, John Williams became the oldest competitive nominee in Oscar history, and with this being his 53rd nomination, he also broke his own record as the most Oscar-nominated living person, and the second-most nominated person (behind Walt Disney).
It also feels weird to me that it doesn't list how many noms Disney got (59), so I also want to add that. I also think it would make sense to split the sentence in twain, to avoid it becoming too long. Please change to something like this instead:
John Williams became the oldest competitive nominee in Oscar history, as he was 90 years old when nominees were announced (he turned 91 between then and the ceremony). With this being his 53rd nomination, he also broke his own record as the most Oscar-nominated living person, and the second-most nominated person ever (behind Walt Disney at 59 nominations).

The end of prestige fare?
The article saying EEAAO's wins signal the "end of the popularity and relevance of theatrically released prestige fare" feels presumptuous about future ceremonies. Can we adjust that to be more factual? Paststrange (talk) 11:38, 13 March 2023 (UTC)
- Here's a better article that discusses this situation. HM2021 (talk) 00:16, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- That says nothing like what you claim. It just asserts that 2022 was a "down" year for "prestige cinema", not that the entire concept of "prestige cinema" is already dead and buried for all time. We've been through times like this before, when "unexpected" films won Best Picture (Midnight Cowboy, anyone?) without somehow destroying the entire established concept of what was an "Oscar film". If five years from now Best Picture has been won exclusively by sequels to and imitations of EEAAO, then maybe you'll have a point — but one year doesn't singlehandedly clinch it, and the sources you're showing aren't claiming that it does. Bearcat (talk) 00:38, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- I’ve had almost the exact same discussion here. Spectrallights (talk) 00:54, 14 March 2023 (UTC)
- I agree with the opinion that such a statement is premature crystal ball-gazing and at worst original research or personal opinion. There's also the fact definitions are evolving; up until a few years ago Netflix productions would have been considered made-for-TV movies and ineligible for Oscars, but now they are, notably this year with All Quiet. Next year's Oscars could be all-prestige movies. It's along the same lines as those who predicted there would be no Oscars presentation at all in 2023 because of ratings, COVID hanging on and "the slap". People did make such predictions and they were wrong. 23skidoo (talk) 20:25, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
A24 "top five"
The article states, "A24 won a total of nine awards, more than any other studio or distributor; between Everything Everywhere All at Once and The Whale, the studio swept the "top five" awards — Best Picture and the four acting awards."
A24 did sweep the "top five," but the top five are Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay (Adapted or Original), and Best Actor and Actress. Please correct. Tigerfan5150 (talk) 14:26, 13 March 2023 (UTC)

In memoriam
I added two things: one that a URL for more tributes was shown at the end of the segment (has anyone checked to see if any of the people mentioned as being omitted were included); I also noted (I know without source, but this is common sense) that some people cannot be included due to passing away too close to the broadcast, after the tribute segment would have been edited and timed out; such was the case with Sizemore and Topol at least, both of whom died only days before the show. 23skidoo (talk) 20:16, 15 March 2023 (UTC)
- Pat Carroll was not included. Despite an earlier promotion of the upcoming Little Mermaid live action film. 2604:3D09:6A85:6000:B066:69CC:D9C2:8057 (talk) 16:11, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

Did the trivia of this page get super trimmed down? (July 2 2023 to July 22 2023 )
I just looked at the page now, and it looks so barren now like so much got cut.
---
I opened a random version (1163051916, from July 2), and it looked nice.
There were 16 first-time nominees across the four acting categories, including all five Best Actor nominees, the most in Oscar history. Michelle Yeoh was the first woman who identifies as Asian nominated for Best Actress. A record four Asian actors received acting nominations: Hong Chau, Stephanie Hsu, and winners Ke Huy Quan and Yeoh. With her Best Supporting Actress nomination for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Angela Bassett became the first person to receive an acting nomination for a role in a film based on Marvel Comics.
Judd Hirsch, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in The Fabelmans, set a new record for longest gap between two acting nominations, following his nomination for Ordinary People (1980). John Williams became the oldest competitive nominee in Oscar history, as he was 90 years old when nominees were announced (he turned 91 between then and the ceremony). With this being his 53rd nomination, he also extended his own record as the most Oscar-nominated living person, and the second-most nominated person ever (behind Walt Disney at 59 nominations). For his nomination for Le pupille for Best Live Action Short Film, Alfonso Cuarón became the second person to be nominated in seven different categories, following Kenneth Branagh; the film also was Disney+'s first nomination for the award.
Everything Everywhere All at Once became the first film since 2013's Gravity to win seven Academy Awards, and the most awarded Best Picture winner since 2008's Slumdog Millionaire (which won eight Academy Awards). It is the third film in history to win in three acting categories, following A Streetcar Named Desire (1951) and Network (1976), and the first of these films to also win Best Picture. A24 won a total of nine awards, more than any other studio or distributor; with Everything Everywhere All at Once and The Whale (with six and one top awards, respectively), the studio was the first to win seven of the eight top awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and the four acting awards (missing only Best Adapted Screenplay, for which A24 did not have any eligible nominees)."
---
The current version looks so thin and gaunt.
"The winners were announced during the awards ceremony on March 12, 2023. Everything Everywhere All at Once became the first science-fiction film to win Best Picture, and it was the third film alongside 1951's A Streetcar Named Desire and 1976's Network to win three acting awards. Best Director winners Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert became the third pair of directors to win for the same film. For the first time since the 7th ceremony in 1935, all five Best Actor nominees were first time nominees. Michelle Yeoh was the first Asian winner for Best Actress and the second woman of color overall after Halle Berry who won for her performance in 2001's Monster's Ball. Furthermore, she was the first woman to identify as Asian to be nominated in that category. Ke Huy Quan became the first Vietnamese person to win an Oscar and the second Asian winner for Best Supporting Actor after Haing S. Ngor, who won for his role in 1984's The Killing Fields. The 42-year span between Judd Hirsch's first nomination for his supporting role in 1980's Ordinary People and his second for The Fabelmans set the record for the longest gap between Oscar nominations. At age 90, Best Original Score nominee John Williams became the oldest person nominated competitively in Oscars history. Best Costume Design winner Ruth E. Carter was the first Black woman to win two Oscars."
