Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is an upcoming crossover fighting game developed by Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, and published by GameMill Entertainment. It is the sequel to Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl (2021) and an entry in the Nickelodeon Super Brawl series. The game is scheduled for release in Fall 2023 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Gameplay

Like the previous game, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 is a 2D platform fighter featuring characters from various Nickelodeon franchises. Gameplay has been updated from the previous entry, with all characters' movesets having been revised and new mechanics being added such as horizontal attacks and dodge rolling.[2] A new meter can be built up and spent during gameplay in different ways, such as increasing damage, performing attack cancels, and activating powerful character-specific "Ultimate" abilities.[2][3] A new single-player campaign has been added, in which players must stop Vlad Plasmius from conquering the multiverse. The campaign will feature roguelike mechanics, boss battles, and character-specific story routes.[2] The game will also feature a refined arcade mode, along with new mini-games and modes such as a boss rush.[4] In addition, support for cross-platform play has been added to the game's online multiplayer.[4]

Playable characters

The developers have currently announced 18 playable characters drawn from 14 Nickelodeon franchises, including several returning characters from the previous game, with more expected to be revealed leading up to the game's launch. New characters are marked below in bold. Helga Pataki, Leonardo, Lincoln Loud, Michelangelo, Sandy Cheeks, and Toph Beifong exclusively appear in footage from the original Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl in the announcement trailer of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2.[5]

Development and release

In June 2023, prior to its announcement, several images from Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, including development screenshots and partial box art, were anonymously leaked online.[9] The game was officially announced on July 27, 2023. The game's graphics have been refined over its predecessor, and all characters will feature full English voice-acting only, a feature which was not added to its predecessor until several months after release.[1]

In addition to the standard release, the game will be offered in a digital-only Deluxe edition that includes a downloadable content season pass containing four additional characters, set to be released throughout 2024, and an additional costume for SpongeBob. A separate digital Ultimate edition will include the season pass, as well as an additional costume for each character.[1]
