Deletion of 'Maverick Messiah' page

Hi, You have deleted this page, stating it is promotion. Surprised that it is considered a promotion on Wikipedia to write about a biographical book of a well-known personality which is published by a reputed publisher like Penguin Random House? The article itself has a neutral tone. Will that not make writing about any personality or book a promotional article? Salivahana (talk) 17:42, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question about self published sources tag 'Mohamed Elshahat'

Hi, I am a little confused about this tag. I reviewed the policy for good references and tried my best to narrow down the references use to these: 1-Books published by respected publishing houses. I cited a literaty criticism book published by the Arabic Journalism Agency which can be found on google book. Also, books written by Mr. Elshahat were published by 1- Egyptian General Authority for Books, 2-Egyptian Ministry of Culture 3-Dar El Horreya 4-Dar Al-Adeeb 5-Dar El-Adham 6- Dar Waad 7- Al-Arabi Publishing and Distribution which are independant and reputible publishing houses/intities. I added references to the book pages on the Arabworldbooks.com website so users can find the book cover/details if needed since these are written in a different language. 2- Mainstream (non-fringe) magazines, including specialty ones and Reputable newspapers. I cited independant articles from Almasry Alyoum, Alnahar, Aldostor and Alkalima. These are all independant articles written by reputible jourlists or critics. I would love to improve the quality of this article so your help is much appreciated Nour -Let's talk NourhanAbdelfattah (talk) 16:31, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requested moves

Version 13.2 of the IOC list has been published here. Many of the changes are from the "Working Group Avian Checklists" and are designed to align the world bird lists - see here.

Please could you move the following article - I'm unable to do so:

IOC 13.2: "Change English name of Hierococcyx hyperythrus from Rufous Hawk-Cuckoo to Northern Hawk-Cuckoo to align with other major world bird lists."
IOC 13.2: "Change English name of Ramphastos dicolorus from Green-billed Toucan to Red-breasted Toucan to align with SACC and other major world bird lists."

And one you will remember:

IOC 13.2: "Change English name of Delichon urbicum from Common House Martin to more appropriate Western House Martin."

Clements will also spit this species and use "Western house martin" in their 2023 update. A copy of the draft is here.

I'll tidy the articles after the moves. Many thanks, -Aa77zz (talk) 12:30, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

And another:

IOC 13.2: "Change English name of Mirafra javanica from Horsfield's Bush Lark to Singing Bush Lark with the lump of Mirafra cantillans."

Thanks - Aa77zz (talk) 19:22, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Jimfbleak: I've now tidied the moved articles. I was unable to move the "Common house martin" article because for some reason "Move" was not listed as an option on the drop-down menu. Many thanks for you help. - Aa77zz (talk) 08:18, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of That Kid

Good morning, I saw you deleted my article almost immediately after creating it, citing "self written vanity page" as one of the reasons? I am not the subject of the article, and I think it's strange to assume that. I do not have a conflict of interest with the subject either. I also believe the subject meets the notability guideline for an independent musical artist and the BroadwayWorld, LVL3, and Paper magazine sources I used fall under the RS guideline. I understand your concern with the Twitter sourcing, and I can change that, but I don't think the article should have been speedily deleted, especially without a warning on my talk page or anything. Thanks, -- dylx 06:39, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari

Hello there, I am writing to please ask you to re-consider the deletion of the page for contemporary Sufi master Mohamed Faouzi al-Karkari. All of the information written on the page was factual and neutral similar to other biographies for Sufi teachers on Wikipedia and we linked to references on Yahoo! News by way of Associated Press, Al-Arabiya, Moroccon World News, and the University of Chicago: Divinity School, these 4 entities can hardly be considered as spam links. We ask you to humbly to please restore the page.

Deletion of 'MrASingh's' page

Hi Jim, You have deleted this page, stating it is promotion. I'm really surprised as it's an entry for award-winning contemporary artist who works in the UK and across the world. I am one of his students, he teaches at university and is a highly respected creative. I am more than happy to edit it so it meet wiki guidlines, this is the first time creating a wiki page. The article is showcasing the breadth of this work with no promotion. Please help. Hi @Jimfbleak, all the sculpture info is sources from the organisers websites, there are plenty of source links i can add, and/or remove if it's not relevant. Can you please move this back as i didnt save the draft to start again. Thanks J Jasmine A 12:47, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jasmine A, I'll restore as a draft shortly, but since it's so promotional that it was deleted even as a draft, I'm going to strip it back to facts, all of which will need proper sources. I'll do that in the next hour or so, please don't attempt to edit it before then Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:11, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jasmine A, I made these changes, please ask if you are unclear about anything. Note that I'm not guaranteeing that a reviewer will accept the draft, at the minimum you will need proper sources. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:26, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Jimfbleak, i've edited it, added proper sources. Please can you have a look? Thanks Jasmine A 17:55, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Jasmine A, looks better. Don't refer to him as "Amrit", too informal. "Singh" or his professional name. It would be good if you could find a more reliable source than Medium (ref 6). Ref 12 should not be in all caps. Otherwise, wait and see what an AFC reviewer thinks Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:06, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, great. Thanks for the advice, i've taken 'Amrit' out in area and replaced with MrASingh or Singh. Jasmine A 08:31, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

european rock pipit

Jimfbleak, i had a quick question regarding this article and the associated blurb. the blurb and article both appear to mention a crab with the common name of "African fiddler crab", but so far, i have been unable to find a crab with this common name. i did find a "West African fiddler crab" (afruca tangeri) and an "East African fiddler crab" (austruca occidentalis), neither of which is the austruca annulipes linked in the blurb and article. i also noticed that various sources appear to call austruca annulipes either the "ring-legged fiddler crab" or the "porcelain fiddler crab". i admittedly don't have access to either the detto source or the elfström source cited in the article body, but i suspect that "African fiddler crab" may have been used simply as a description of austruca annulipes, rather than as its common name. austruca annulipes is an african fiddler crab, but it doesn't appear to be the african fiddler crab. what do you think about replacing "the African" with "the ring-legged", "the porcelain", or "an African"? dying (talk) 03:12, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dying, thanks. The full text of Detto is available through the doi. "An African fiddler crab" seems safest. Incidentally, I note that the genus of the crab has changed from the Uca in Detto, but that's unimportant except regaring redirects Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:31, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
oh, wow! i admittedly had not followed the doi link provided for the detto source. apparently, i had previously clicked enough doi links that only gave me abstracts that i had wrongly assumed that they all would not give me the full text of the source. i will try to remember to check those doi links the next time i am looking for a source. thanks for pointing this out, Jimfbleak! dying (talk) 17:33, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Dying, we used to be able to url link to full text from the title, but that's seen to be redundancy when there is a doi now, unfortunately Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:25, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why did you undisambiguate this draft? There is an article for Bruno Conti, so that if the subject of this draft is notable (but this draft does not establish notability), then a disambiguator is needed. The disambiguator did need to be lower-cased. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:12, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Robert McClenon OK, moved to Bruno Conti (scientist), although I think notability is dubious Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:23, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for the quick response. It would be better if you increase the creation protection of the page to extended confirmed. If someone wants to create Suhail Shaji or Suhail Shaji (director), they should be at least extended confirmed. Because there are no other notable subjects under the name and these sockpuppets are the only ones behind it's creation. We should prevent further abuse. Thanks again for the quick response. 111.92.118.26 (talk) 14:02, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

hey bro where can I find the page you deleted (I mean you deleted the page thta I created) Vwqvj qwhiu (talk) 11:40, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Vwqvj qwhiu your entire text was François Clerc (? – ?) was a gardener from an unconfirmed country. He appeared in short comedy film in The Sprinkler Sprinkled in 1895. .
When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them.
He clearly doesn't meet the notability criteria linked above, you had no references, and even if you had used IMDB as a ref, it isn't an acceptable source Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:20, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

411 Music Group Article

Hi Jimfbleak, Alymacq11 (talk) 13:49, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Thanks so much for your help. I am currently editing a completely new draft in my sandbox with more references and facts that are fully supported. I also had a question about adding images to the article. I found a few photos of 411 Music Group within articles about the company, online company website, and the company facebook account. To add these images that I do not own, I am supposed to check that I found these images online, and that I do not have the specific copyright metadata. However, Wikipedia tells me the images I uploaded could be deleted within 7 days. It has been 7 days, and they have not yet been deleted. I was wondering if it is absolutely necessary to have those images be licensed fully, and if so, I was wondering how I am supposed to know if the creator of the photos published them within the Creative Commons License, and which type of license. Or, if these images are publicly online, are they considered fair use? If there is no way to be able to have a suitable tag on the copyright status, would you suggest not using any images at all? Thanks so much!Alymacq11 (talk) 13:49, 27 July 2023 (UTC) User:alymacq11 (talk)[reply]

Unblocks

user:WanderWithAlex came on IRC to ask about her block; we had a productive conversation, and she understands now that writing about herself is a non-optimal activity. She's also interested in helping the project in other ways - "I'd like to learn how to properly contribute. Now that I know I can talk with someone to help me rather than just trying to navigate the system on my own, that is very helpful to know. Rather than keep trying wrong methods, I now understand that there are resources to help."

I feel that she merits an unblock so that she can, a) get a username change, and b) show that she can contribute helpfully to the project as a whole. Let me know if you have any objections; if not, I'll unblock her on Saturday. DS (talk) 17:57, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jim, you have deleted the page I have drafted for the Canadian Cancer Survivor Network and you said that it was promotional material. Deletion of i-Vidyarthi

Hi friend, you have recently deleted the page i-Vidyarthi claiming that it is a promotion. How could it be a promotion as it is already a million dollar company, it doesn't needs any promotion and one of the fastest growing edtech company and most trending topics in India. Its not any type of promotion and it would be very good to have this page as increases one more useful content to Wikipedia. This page just needs some more information and citations which will be achieved within few days with contribution of editors. Also it is a part of Government of India program regarding awareness of education and technologies in India to make students skilled for future development, that's why I had created this page in request of our directed of skill education department, GoI. Please help me recreating this page and also it is really useful and reliable. A humble request from the member of startup India program initiated by Government of India. Thanking You, A.S. Universal (talk) 16:06, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, you will be amazed to know that whole company is being managed by 16 year old CEO Aryan and other 46 team employees. That's why this company is in huge trend and getting protected by the government so that competitors who are trying to raise controversies and suppress the company can be controlled. Also, actions are taken by the supreme court that without permission of company owner no one could release reports on i-Vidyarthi and media is also censored. Therefore, its citations and references are currently unavailable on internet as ordered by government.
Hence, I also need your help to publish this page on Wikipedia as you are an administrator, that's really great. So friend, please help me if you can. I can provide you all the available public information regarding it. Hope for a positive reply from you soon!
Thanking You,
