Image in biographical infoboxes
Dear Aintabli, thank you for your quick reaction in Talk:Antoine Hamilton. It seems the topic is not limited to that article. I would have thought that images in biographical infoboxes would serve about the same purpose as ID-photos and should look like them. I have the impression there is no guidance pertaining to portraits in MOS:LEADIMAGE and the Biography Project does not seem to have its own guideline. Zooming in on portraits that show more than the head sometimes produces useful ID-photos and sometimes fails to do so. In my experience the failures usually are caused by a bad quality of the original portrait. In my opinion, an example of a successful zoom-in of that sort is Hugo Krabbe. Antoine Hamilton is certainly less successful. Perhaps I should zoom out a bit more. With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 18:58, 23 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Johannes Schade I would zoom out a bit more to have at least a portion of his shoulders there. Hugo Krabbe is more successful because we see more than just his head. Similarly, ID photos do also include the shoulders unlike the current zoomed-in picture of Hamilton. I couldn't find a specific guideline in MOS:LEADIMAGE on portraits as well, but one thing I can infer is that when we're zooming in, we often lose important features that help us in identifying that person, and MOS:LEADIMAGE article mentions that the picture ideally gives us a
visual confirmation that we've arrived at the right page
. In the case of Hamilton, we cannot see the full shape of his hair, which in my opinion is relevant to this quote. Thank you, Aintabli (talk) 20:24, 23 April 2023 (UTC)- Dear Aintabli, what you say makes a lot of sense. I have now zoomed out more in Antoine Hamilton. His shoulder is hidden by his "hair", which is a wig. High and long wigs of curly hair were the fashion in his time in Western Europe. Bravo, your intervention has improved the article. With many thanks and best regards, Johannes Schade (talk) 07:37, 24 April 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Aintabli, FYI, I have added a short conclusion to the discussion on the Talk:Antoine Hamilton for the profit of the readers of that page. I wanted our discussion to be echoed there but wanted to give only essentials to keep it short. Thanks again for your efforts and the polite and efficient ways. Best regards and good bye, Johannes Schade (talk) 08:48, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. Aintabli (talk) 15:50, 25 April 2023 (UTC)
Manavlar
@Aintabli, You changed the page from Manavlar, or Manav turks to manavs, that reads strange. What does the word Manavs mean? this is not the correct english translation from turkish, manavs is a custom word you created. You don't accept the map from the Turkish wikipedia either. But it shows the settlement area of the manavlar. Ne oldu sana? Bi'şey mi var? Manav Turk (talk) 15:28, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Manav Turk I did not
[change] the page from Manavlar, or Manav turks to manavs
. It appears to be Kumanof who did that. You can take a look at the move log and the redirects they created. You can discuss that with them. And you seem to have already commented on their talk page. I don't know why you are accusing me of creatinga custom word
, which I have nothing to do. Plus, you have already accused me of anti-Turkish sentiments, and that's not a good first impression for a beginner. - At least the part about the map has something to do with me. You may want to check WP:V, WP:RS, WP:OR. It needs a source on Wikimedia Commons, the lack of which makes it the personal opinion of whoever published it. If you have reliable sources for that map, feel free to add them to its page so that we can talk about readding. Aintabli (talk) 16:08, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Manav Turk The main reason why I changed the name of the Manavlar was to adapt it to English and the original page name. To give an example: The Cumans page is referred to as Cumans, not as Cuman Turks. In a way, I wanted to be official. Kumanof (talk) 10:48, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
DYK for Zayn al-Din Qaraja
On 26 May 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Zayn al-Din Qaraja, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Zayn al-Din Qaraja was imprisoned and executed by the Mamluk Sultanate after he declared the independence of the Beylik of Dulkadir? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Zayn al-Din Qaraja. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Zayn al-Din Qaraja), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Partial follow-up AfD
Hi, because you recently participated in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Turkic dynasties and countries, which also led to the deletion of Comparison of the Turkic states, I would like to invite you to participate in the partial follow-up Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Comparison of the Baltic states. The situation of these three pages is not exactly the same (because language family plays no role in these cases), but because many issues are similar, I've nominated them as well, and am curious what you think. Cheers, Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 08:26, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Manavs
This version of the Manavs page is better. Thank you for your help. In a way, it seems better that there are no propaganda-oriented opinions about the origin of Manavs. Kumanof (talk) 10:35, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
Request
Hello.
Can you find any information about the status of the Gaziantep Mevlevi Culture and Foundation Works Museums and Gaziantep Museum of Archaeology? They are closed since the earthquake, but have they sustained damage in the earthquake?
I have seen recent photos of Gaziantep, and the damage it suffered is indeed awful. Somehow, after the clearing of the debris, the city looks worse, before it is going to be better, unless they build new buildings shoddily again and another powerful earthquake destroys them again.
Yours sincerely, 31.200.20.235 (talk) 16:24, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, they appear to be open, but I couldn't find a specific news article, so I'm hesitating to add anything to these articles at the moment. I could find such a source for Zeugma Mosaic Museum but not for these two. Aintabli (talk) 19:18, 29 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you. 31.200.20.235 (talk) 16:01, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Deletion of the "List_of_kakapo" page
Mr Aintabli, I understand you are at the origin of the removal of the "list of kakapo" page. While I may understand the concerns you had about this page, it has definitely notability value for the community for numerous reasons: - Kakapo recovery program is the most notable, most well-funded and most successful bird recovery program in New Zealand, birds were saved from the absolute brink of extinction. They were given names and so did their offspring, the fact those individual names are so important is because of their limited genepool and the fact that certain birds have to breed in order for the species to survive as a whole (most notably, the offspring of the Fiordland kakapo Richard Henry) - therefor, this information is key. - The article is well-sourced - the Twitter, Instagram and Facebook sources come directly from the New Zealand Department of COnservation that lead the program and are as such not a matter of controversy - The article is completely up to date with the control of those official sources - The article is important for the non-scientific community, as there is no other publicly available source of information for this list of birds - Due to the strong emotional bond many people within or outside New Zealnd (such as me) feel to these birds, it is important to have the names, especially since the information is correct - One would argue that when a list with no interest whatsoever such as like the succession order to the throne of a country exists, this list would be way more important. - To gauge the interest, I would suggest you take a look at takapodigs (Andrew Digby) - the science advisor for the kakapo recovery program page on Twitter, and on the Department of Conservation and Kakapo Recovery and Sirocco the Kakapo pages on Facebook and Instagram to see how thousands of people are literally rabid about the informations you deem uncrucial.
As such, I would ask you to return the page to wikipedia, or at the very least provide me the PDF of the last version of the page, so that at the very least I can follow it on my side and at least keep the info and share it with the (numerous) people interested in it.
Thanks for the read, I hope you take the appropriate measures in either restoring the page or merging it with the kakapo page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PasquiDerder (talk • contribs) 07:55, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

Rollback granted
Hi Aintabli. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or RedWarn.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! – filelakeshoe (t / c) 🐱 12:56, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

Hello @Aintabli, May I ask you why my edits, which I don't think were too intrusive, were all reset? Best regards. Sirgûcî (talk) 14:47, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
- For the record, you are leaving further evidence against yourself. Just by the title of this entry (the way you have quoted "sock"), it is clear that you're a German-speaker, and associated IP's geolocate to Austria. Aintabli (talk) 17:39, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Thank you for taking on the review of this article, I look forward to working with you to bring it up to GA status! Just a friendly note, I noticed you placed the review on hold, however the review itself has not been completed against all criteria. Per WP:GAN/I#HOLD the "on hold" status is for articles where you as the reviewer have completed the review and there are additional notes to finalise the article that need completed by me as the nominator. You shouldn't be changing the status of the review until you have completed every aspect of the review. Sims2aholic8 (talk) 08:09, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
