Stephen Elliot Tappin (born 5th September 1966), is a British Leadership Coach and Global CEO Confidant with over 30 years worth of experience advising CEOs and their boards, as well as Chairmen of some of the world’s leading companies.

Tappin is CEO of Beyond Unity, an Award-Winning Global Leadership Consultancy and Co-Author of The Awareness Code, published by Bloomsbury and The Secrets of CEOs, foreword by Richard Branson.

Tappin is also an expert on China and a trusted Confidant to both Chinese leaders and Western companies in China. He also co-authored Dream to Last - Secrets of Chinese CEOs.

He was the host of the BBC television series ‘CEO Guru’, where he interviewed CEOs of the largest and fastest growing companies such as GE’s Jeff Immelt, Virgins Richard Branson, WPP’s Martin Sorrell, Mckinsey’s Global Managing Partner Dominic Barton, China Mr Guo from Foscun, Whole Foods' John Mackey, Unilever’s Paul Polman and Qantas' Alan Joyce over six series.

Tappin’s highest calling has always been centered around helping CEOs and leaders of the world’s leading companies transform themselves and their companies.

Originally based in London, Tappin now splits his time between the UK and Australia.  

Early life and Education

Tappin was born to British parents Sylvia and David in Harrogate on 5th September 1966. He is the eldest of his two siblings. He attended Harrogate Grammar school, professionally qualified as an Accountant before earning an MBA from Cranfield University, UK.[1]

Career

Tappin began his career with the chemical company ICI, on a management training scheme.[citation needed]

In his late 20s and early 30s, he worked for KPMG, PA Consulting and Heidrick and Struggles.[citation needed] He noticed these global professional services firms faced similar challenges to the major corporations they advised, and this motivated Tappin to create Xinfu, a professional services firm.[2]

Since 2008, Tappin has been the founder and CEO of Xinfu, a CEO and leadership consulting firm."[2]
