I am not sure who arrived at this conclusion but it was determined by the name scribonius that in many cases the Etruscan and Latin names were semantic which basically means they are words from their vocabulary having a meaning and they are the bi-lingual material which we have to work with. We just have to fall back on our schoolboy latin roots to determine the meaning of scribonius which is scribo scriptus I write .The Etruscan word is zicu or zico, this sign V in the etruscan language in transliteration can have the value of english U or O. There is also a variation of zicu which is zi'ch'u, the reason for this is not understood as yet.It is considered to generate the word zi'ch'u'ch'u which is thought to mean this writing or has written as it appears on the Cippus of Perugia.
