Lutfullah Khan was a Mughal General and Provincial Governor of the Alamgiri era.
Biography
Lutfullah Khan was a high ranking general of Aurangzeb Alamgir, he was the son of the Mughal Grand Vizier Sa’adullah Khan Shah Jahani.[1] He remained the Governor of Bijapur, Aurangabad and also Punjab on behalf of the imperial prince.[2]
Early Career
Lutfullah Khan was made a mansabdar at the age of 11 on his father's death, during the reign of Shah Jahan. Upon the accession of Aurangzeb, he rose to prominence quickly. He was appointed as the Arz-I-Mukarrar of the Empire followed by the head of the royal guard. He distinguished himself at the Siege of Golconda in 1687 and subsequently received a rise in rank, he would be appointed as Governor to several Deccani provinces, he governed Bijapur, Aurangabad and Berar one after the other.[2][3]
