23.2% of the students were eligible for free or reduced-cost lunch.[1]

Athletics

Avon's Orioles are members of the Hoosier Crossroads Conference. The school colors are black and gold. The following Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) sanctioned sports are offered:[2]

Performing arts

Avon has a eight different band ensembles (Marching Black and Gold, Winter Guard, Drumline, Avon Indoor Winds, Concert Band, Saxophone Ensemble, Brass Choir, and Jazz Ensemble),[4] a competitive dance team, seven different choirs (Avon Accents Show Choir, Avon Attraction Show Choir, Chamber Singers, Allegros, Black and Gold choir, Symphonic Choir, and Oriole Choir),[5] multiple orchestras, and a theater program (Avon Thespians Troupe #8320).[6]

The Avon Marching Black and Gold won the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) tournament in 2001-2007, 2009, 2010, 2013-2014, 2019 and 2021.[7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][failed verification][16][failed verification][17][failed verification] [18] In 2008, 2009, and 2010, they placed first in the Bands of America Grand National Championships.[19] They were in the 2012 New Year's Day Rose Parade in Pasadena, California and have been recruited by the Macy's brand to perform in the 2024 production of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.[20]
