Ways to improve Peter Leaver

Hi, I'm DrStrauss. Uhooep, thanks for creating Peter Leaver!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hi, I've reviewed your page. As it's a BLP, it could do with more references and a bit of expansion to ensure it passes WP:GNG. Thanks!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

George Chapple Norton as a distinguished Old Wykehamist

Hi, I see you've added a stub for this person, and immediately put him into the list. Apart from the (not very remarkable) fact that he became an MP (easy at the time for people of his class), why should he be there? He has very little claim to fame and doesn't seem to have distinguished himself as an MP, either. Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:26, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I added him because there is no mention on the list that it is reserved for 'exceptionally notable' Old Wykehamists who go beyond Wikipedia's standard notability guidelines. My view has always been that if the subject is notable enough to warrant an article then they are notable enough to be added to stand alone alumni lists. Uhooep (talk) 14:17, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That would require the list to include every OW who has an entry, which is utterly unreasonable. We don't require exceptional notability, just that they did enough to make them worth listing, which frankly Norton didn't. That might mean his page should be deleted, or it might not, but he really isn't of any interest for the list. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:48, 9 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notability within bio (more specificallly: application of wp:GNG/wp:BIO against wp:AUTH/wp:PROF...and both vis-a-vis vagaries of actual practice!

I.e. - Is Matthew Grow, editor of The Council of Fifty, Minutes, March 1844–January 1846 (The Church Historian's Press, which is an imprint of Deseret Book; 2016), notable? Is Benjamin E. Promo articles

Hi again, well I came across your name again at the AfD Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Crypto_Valley. Crypto_Valley has WP:SPA accounts and is clearly promo. These are just promo articles with deletion being initiated by several editors, so there's clear consensus as such. As such, your account popping up at all of these indicates that it may be best to refrain from such promo articles, which are WP:NOT. You are aware of COI and WP:DISCLOSE, and my understanding is you claim no COI. Have you ever had any communication on or offwiki about any of these cryptocurrency articles and/or organisations, and/or with other editors or people or companies that are the subject or have any connection to any of these? Widefox; talk 21:41, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Widefox. I appreciate your concern but I have no connection to any of these organisation or fields, and have no communication with anyone from these organisations and fields either online or offline. I have just been very interested in following developments in the "crypto-space", which as i'm sure you're aware is a hot topic at the moment and attracting a lot of interest. I had not heard the term Crypto Valley before I discovered someone had written a wiki article on the subject. Having done some searching on the term it appeared to be used quite widely in independent third party sources, so I added references and attempted to tidy up the previously poorly referenced article. My personal vote would be keep on that one, given the sources, but other members of the community are free to make up their own minds. Uhooep (talk) 22:19, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for replying again. Sorry for the repeat question. If you haven't seen, WP:RECENTISM may be worth a glance. Regards Widefox; talk 22:28, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Uhooep, following on #Promo articles, I just came across another of your articles RChain. Can you explain. Do you have any other accounts? Also, have you ever used another account or edited as an IP? (no need to tell me what IP). Do you communicate with any other party, editor, or accounts? Under construction icon

Thank you for your recent contributions. Getting started creating new articles on Wikipedia can be tricky, and you might like to try creating a draft version first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. Sorry for the template, but considering the number of non notable creations, it would help prevent all these deletions if you could use WP:AfC to get feedback before the articles are in mainspace. Do you agree? Widefox; talk 14:13, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Yutaka Tokiwa for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Yutaka Tokiwa is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yutaka Tokiwa until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Widefox; talk 14:19, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

 — Berean Hunter (talk) 18:00, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:Berean Hunter this spare account was used to edit on politically sensitive subjects where I wanted the assurance of an additional layer of anonymity given that sometimes a user's real life identity can be ascertained from their main account. As you know not every country has free speech or freedom of the press, and in some instances writers are persecuted for the things they write, so such concerns are entirely valid and I don't think it's therefore appropriate for users such as User:Widefox to effectively rubbish such concerns by using phrases such as "pls ignore the cheating sock". I would like to contest the block, use my Uhooep account positively going forward, familiarise myself better with notability guidelines so that I don't repeat the mistake of some of my recent blockchain related article creations which were deleted, and promise to retain only one account going forward, although that means I would refrain from editing on sensitive subjects, such as Paradise Papers as I don't feel my identity is well hidden enough. Anyway, in relation to Widefox's repeated COI concerns I reiterate that I have zero COIs. Retired with no commercial interests, links to individuals included herein, or any dialogue with external parties saying "hey mate brush up our wikipedia article for you will you"hey. All my edits are mine and mine alone on subjects which interest me, ranging from science, academia, business, politics, religion, law, and most recently I started writing about blockchain. I'm sure i've missed some out. Anyway I am happy to cooperate as much as I can in getting this issue resolved. But if you still think a life ban is appropriate then there is probably nothing much I can do about it. I didn't even realise having two accounts was such a major issue, though I recognise the potential misuses which may stem from it. As I say my intention was purely identity protection. Kind regards Uhooep (talk) 22:01, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As you pinged me, I will reply to just my part. Agree my edit summary was below standard, the comment left was "indef blocked". Having multiple accounts without disclosing is socking, right? You acknowledge it's not allowed? Why didn't you reply when I asked if you had more accounts? [1], [2] in a style that was clear I knew about it? You carried on editing [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]. After that, I mentioned AfC to help prevent deletion and such drama in future, and nothing to do with COI [9] . As you say yourself, you've created several non-notable topics. They were WP:SPA/COI/meat/sock magnets. I actually like your work, hence AfC suggestion. Widefox; talk 01:49, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your fair comments User:Widefox. I didn't respond because I don't have access to a computer at the moment, am responding on mobile. Was going to attempt to deal with this when I get computer access again. I have a reasonable understanding of the notability guidelines surrounding politicians, academics etc (vice-chancellors, notable scientific prize winners, cabinet ministers, national legislature members etc easily pass) but I probably need to brush up on CORP. I think by far the vast majority of my previous article creations have met these guidelines, just a few of the recent ones have fallen through the cracks. I feel a few of your notability tags are a little excessive, for example I think Paul Lester (businessman) easily passes, it just requires additional citations. I didn't realise multiple accounts were so strictly forbidden, I thought in the case of the SPA/socks related to the Polkadot (project) articles that that user was allowed to continue editing afterwards. Uhooep (talk) 02:14, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That other editor had disclosed their account, I only took to SPI as I was prompted to (to clear it from COIN I guess)
NP, discussed here Talk:Paul Lester (businessman). Widefox; talk 03:11, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Not quite sure how this edit ten minutes after your other account's edit is legitimate. I won't accept editing on politically sensitive subjects as a rationale there. You use both accounts on several articles such as Tulip Siddiq. This ridiculous troll post belongs to you. This vandalism is also yours although I see that you removed it a few minutes later. The significance is that you are using the account to push your POV.

Hi User:Berean Hunter, re the edits, Lee Nelson had just pranked the Prime Minister during a speech. His name was all over the media. I added an image to his article, but apparently images of someone under arrest are not allowed. Tulip Siddiq has links to the Bangladeshi regime, but free speech doesn't always go down well there and there have been disappearances so concerns are valid. I probably forgot to log out to the shield or it was before the controversy occured. The ridiculous troll post you cite is actually inherent fact, it's just human beings have been conditioned to believe that royals exist, and coverage exists so it's fine to be included by wiki guidelines, but surely I am still entitled to point out my view that there is nothing inherently notable in my opinion about an unemployed 33 year old guy called Harry? At least in talk. It's just easier sometimes to articulate controversial truths anonymously, that's why twitter is what it is. The vandalism you point to was a mistake. I don't have any other accounts, at least that I can remember. I started editing wikipeida, initially from a visible IP range at my university must have been 10 years ago, before quite a few years later getting around to creating an account. I have lots of positive things I wish to bring to this project going forward and believe my positive contributions to date vastly outweigh any less shining examples. Uhooep (talk) 15:28, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'll let you file an unblock request and let another admin decide. Normally, checkuser blocks may only be undone by a checkuser but I'm willing to let any admin unblock in this case if they are satisfied or become so from further responses. If they do unblock, the other account should remain blocked and you should only use this one account and avoid editing while logged out from now on.
 — Berean Hunter (talk) 15:49, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, i'm sorry for the trouble. I only want to use this account going forward. I wouldn't create another or do IP edits, so if not unblocked I won't contribute to this project further. This has been a useful lesson anyway. I doubt I will have the time to file an unblock request any time soon. As I say I only have mobile access for now. Uhooep (talk) 21:32, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Berean Hunter, I have submitted an unblock request above. Do you have any idea as to how long it might take before an admin, or yourself can take a look at this? Many thanks Uhooep (talk) 15:15, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Widefox, I have pinged the admin who created this block but they haven't responded. Not too sure if you also have admin status? I will leave an admin help request here too just in case somebody gets a chance to look at my case sooner. Regards, Uhooep (talk) 20:06, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
One can see who's an admin by clicking on their userpage etc, where you will see I'm not an admin. Widefox; talk 23:45, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't reply because I stated that I would let another admin decide. You don't need to post for admin help because your case has been in Category:Requests for unblock since you filed your request and is getting viewed and considered by various admins.
 — Berean Hunter (talk) 11:41, 17 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Unblocked with the understanding that going forward, you will stick to one account only. This particularly includes "controversial truths". Huon (talk) 20:45, 18 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Robert E. Whaley requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://rewhaley.com/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The article Kinga Tshering has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. A tag has been placed on Category:Companies listed on the Georgia Stock Exchange requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

Dutch Bros History edit request

Hi there! I'm stopping by because I saw that you made some edits to the Dutch Bros Coffee article back in September of last year, and I thought you might be interested in improving the page further. To be totally transparent: I'm a Dutch Bros employee, so I know I shouldn't make edits to the company page myself. I have been trying, for the past few months, to get an editor to take a look at what I think is a neutral and well-sourced new History section, but unfortunately, no one has been able to help me with it yet. You can see my edit request for this History section on the Dutch Bros talk page and the full draft of it is available on my user page. I would really appreciate it if you could review this draft and, if it's up to your standards, assist me in getting it posted. Thanks! Hillaryjbrown (talk) 22:54, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for cutting down the countries listed in the lead (monkeypox)  :)

Thanks for this edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=2022_monkeypox_outbreak&oldid=1089472769

Dunno if you saw my point on the talk page on wanting to do that, but the references were a stumbling block for me :). Definitely a welcome improvement!

Three Arrows Capital moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Three Arrows Capital, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Attribution at Rishi Sunak

Hi Uhooep, I provided retroactive attribution in the edit summary of this diff for the content you copied from British government response to the COVID-19 pandemic (it was originally written by another editor in February 2021). For future copying, just be sure to note it in the edit summary (with a wikilink to the original page). This is needed to satisfy attribution requirements as described at WP:Copying within Wikipedia. Thanks! DanCherek (talk) 19:16, 9 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Rishi Sunak, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Diesel.

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:23, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, please add sources for information you add to biographies. You've added both a school and a degree to Suraya Marshall without a reference. I've looked it up instead of reverting, and I assume you got this info from Who's Who? Please use citations on WP:BLPs, it only takes a few seconds more. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Richard Smeyne requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.parkinson.org/advancing-research/finding-cure/scientific-advisory-board.

A barnstar for you!

The Barnstar of Diligence
Thanks for your work on diplomatic biographies, and I commend you for responding to the consensus on notability and cleaning up some of your own articles. Princeoftonga

I just realised that I previously edited using the username User:Princeoftonga in the past. That account ended up getting blocked over a username issue, however it is also an unflagged sock. I want to nominate some of my previous work by that account for deletion, specifically the articles Gunaajav Batjargal and Abubakarr Multi-Kamara, however I want to first make it clear that I was also the original author of those articles. If an admin can make it clear that Princeoftonga was an old account of mine then I will begin the AFD process. Thanks. Uhooep (talk) 17:12, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's clear to me that you chose to make a new account instead of renaming the old one. Per WP:SOCKLEGIT, that's perfectly fine. If you like, you can put a statement on your user page stating the link between the two accounts, but it's not required. Alternatively, you could reference your previous account in your AFD nominating statements. Katietalk 21:33, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Said Haidar moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Said Haidar, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Taylor Swift

Hi! I reverted your recent edit on Taylor Swift, which is a featured article, and as such, cannot host superfluous factoids irrelevant to the article subject. The prose about Swift is strongly sourced. If you want to include a factoid about Mr. Bankman-Fried, you should do so in his article. Regards! ℛonherry 11:12, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A completely different narrative has come to light suggesting that the current "featured article" is now misleading readers somewhat. Uhooep (talk) 11:18, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And does this "narrative" claim Swift did not ask the question? No. That's your assumption. Sam pulling out of the deal does not negate the fact that Swift asked the question. These are two mutually exclusive statements. ℛonherry 12:39, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
