Friendly advice

[edit]

If you want to have an impact here, I would suggest that you read carefully the message from Ponyo, and think about it at length (say, at least a week or two) before responding further. The partial block does not mean that you can't suggest changes to Kevin Knuth on the talk page, and indefinite does not mean infinite. Doubling down and threatening to create sock puppet accounts in violation of Wikipedia policy (as you did on the WP:3RRN page) is surely not the way to go. Working on other articles (perhaps less contentious ones, and ones where you have strong feelings) would be a better path. Wikipedia does have a lot of policies and guidelines, and they can take a while to get used to. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 22:31, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Russ Woodroofe::I did not "threaten to create a sock puppet account". Indeed, that is precisely what I did not do. Please read the actual words I wrote and accept them as representative of what I intended to state, rather than infer what you mistakenly think I was trying to imply between the lines. I wrote that sentence in response to the pompous broaching of a site-wide ban - which was both entirely unwarranted and, in practice, impossible to enforce, hence altogether a rather silly and hardly "collegial" threat. For the avoidance of any doubt (it really should not need a warning beacon), that is the essence of that to which I as drawing attention.

I stand by everything I said in my response to Ponyo in the 3RRN "discussion".
As regards "having an impact here" - attempting to author and edit pages on Wikipedia has proven to be one of the most frustrating and least productive wastes of my time in a long while. Far from creating a "sock puppet account", I've absolutely no intention nor desire to further participate in the absurdity that is Wikipedia. The behaviours I have witnessed in only several weeks of editing has told me all I need to know about the mentality of far too many of those involved here and a quick study of their user histories has been enlightening as regards the agendas at play. I really don't have the time to waste engaging in what has transpired to be an exercise in frivolously. In the greater scheme of things, Wikipedia really is not that important. Time is perhaps most precious resource we have and I no longer intend to spend mine engaging in this inane environment. Cosmoid (talk) 23:32, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
