"Say OK" is the second single from Vanessa Hudgens' debut album, V. The single was officially released on January 12, 2007. The song contains elements of Electronica which build up and become more apparent as the song goes on. On iTunes, the song is already gaining popularity as it has peaked at number 18 on the Top 100 songs. It debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 67 for the week ending February 10, 2007.[1] Recently the song has begun to fall down the iTunes charts, but with the recent release of the 2nd version and the popularity garnered by the video, the song has yet again started to climb the charts.
The original single was planned to be "Let Go" but was switched at the last minute.
Music Video
There are two versions of the video available.
The first version was released strictly for the Disney Channel only, and shows Vanessa on the High School Musical: The Concert Tour in Seattle, Washington. The video premiered the same day as the release of the single. This version contains landmarks, including the Union Station and the Broadway Bridge in Downtown Portland. Additionally, Vanessa's younger sister, Stella, appears numerous times. The video is very similar in structure and style to that of Hilary Duff's Fly music video (who is also her labelmate and had the same director for Fly as Vanessa had for Say OK).
The world premiere of the second, and official, was March 16, 2007 on Disney Channel and will premiere on March 26, 2007 on MTV's Total Request Live, (which is rumored to be longer than the Disney Channel version) and will be sent to other stations as well. The video was shot at a beach in LA and a bowling alley, and co-stars Zac Efron. The official video uses a new mix of the song, a little different from the album version.
This version shows Vanessa and some female friends going to a bowling alley at night time to meet up with some male friends, one of them being Zac Efron, for a game. Zac and Vanessa are seen stealing quick glances at one another throughout the game. Afterwards, the group is seen eating at a restaurant and laughing at Zac because the salt shaker cover comes off on his french fries. Zac leaves but first asks Vanessa if she wants to go with him. Zac and Vanessa go to a beach where Vanessa is seen swinging and the two are spinning together on a park merry-go-round. They are either about to kiss, or are kissing, when their friends interrupt them. This is possible because screen shots on "zefron.com" show there faces close to one anothers. This may have been rumored to be seen in the TRL version of the video.
