Güzin Müjde Karakaşlı

  • ... that Güzin Müjde Karakaşlı was born to volleyballer parents, grew up playing volleyball, chose, however, a career as carom billiards player? Source: "Benim annem ve babam voleybolda tanışmışlar, voleybol bizde bir aile sporu" (in Turkish) [1], "18 yaşına gelene kadar Denizlispor'un altyapısında 11-12 sene voleybol oynadım." (in Turkish) [2], "The 27-year-old Güzin Müyde Karakasli is the winner of the first Grand Prix for women in Turkey in 2019 and the new number one on the Turkish rankings." [3]

  • Long enough. New enough. Reliable inline citations throughout. AGF on Turkish sources though they do check out per Google Translate. It does need a citation as to when she first became Turkish champion. Neutrally written. Generally well written; I did make a few copy-edits. QPQ done. The hook is cited but could be more interesting, or at least be copy-edited/streamlined/tightened. Hybernator (talk) 21:03, 22 October 2023 (UTC)
  • Thank you for your reviewing and copyediting. I hope someone can provide a "more interesting" alt-hook you will agree to approve. CeeGee 10:23, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
  • The article still needs a few more clarifications, maybe with better sources. For example, when did she become Turkish champion. And the Achievements section needs to be cited.
Regarding the hook, after the sources are taken care of, maybe something like this might work: ALT1: "... that Turkish carom billiards champion Güzin Müjde Karakaşlı grew up playing volleyball for about 12 years in her youth?" Hybernator (talk) 17:47, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
  • I removed the "Achievements" section completely, added source to one line in the infobox, added her Turkish champion title. I removed also your "better source" warning tags, because the sentences are already suffiecently sourced. If needed, I can provide a Google-translation into English. I hope there is no more issues. Thanks again. CeeGee 12:44, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
  • Hi CeeGee, per Google Translate, I don't see anywhere in the two current citations that she debuted internationally in the 2014 UMB Championship; or that she won the 2014 World Cup in the cited source. The Three-Cushion World Cup article doesn't have her name either. All I see per Google Translate is that she won the 2014 Grand Prix. Unless Grand Prix means the World Cup, we need a better source. From what I gather from the translation, she won the 2014 Turkish Grand Prix. I won't re-add better source needed tags but please clarify. Hybernator (talk) 18:50, 4 November 2023 (UTC)
  • @Hybernator: 1- "Uluslararası seviyeyle tanıştığım ilk turnuva Yunanistan'da düzenlenmesi planlanan ama ekonomik kriz nedeniyle Sinop'ta gerçekleşen dünya şampiyonasıydı." [4] Google → "The first tournament where I was introduced to the international level was the world championship, which was planned to be held in Greece but was held in Sinop due to the economic crisis." See also 2014 event at UMB Women's World Three-cushion Championship. 2- "FB: Was it your first victory in a Grand Prix in Turkey? And what are your best international results so far? GMK: This was my second victory. I won my first Grand Prix in Istanbul in 2014." [5]. CeeGee 12:26, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
  • CeeGee, thanks for clarifying both points. I'm fine with your explanation for point 1. As for point 2, Google Translate also states her saying she won the 2014 Grand Prix. But is the Grand Prix the same as the UMB championship held in Sinop? If so, then we can keep her having won a gold medal in the 2014 World Cup in the info box. If not, shouldn't we change the entry to Grand Prix? Hybernator (talk) 21:08, 5 November 2023 (UTC)
  • @Hybernator: She won the gold medal at the 2014 GP in Istanbul. It is not the same with the 2014 World Championship in Sinop. I removed the entry from infobox. The GP is also called sometimes as World Cup. 10:30, 6 November 2023 (UTC)CeeGee
