Shilpi Singh
Shilpi Singh is an Indian women's rights activist and the director of the organization Bhoomika Vihar.[1] She is known for contribution for rights and rehabilitation of Indian women/girls in rural areas, to prevent human trafficking (fake/forced and early marriage) in Bihar, India.[2][3] She is the registered contact for Bhoomika Vihar in the list of Campaign Against Child Trafficking (CACT) partners.[4]
Social Work
Shilpi has been working on women issues, including trafficking, for the past two decades and has personally rescued about 275 women from trafficking in the Seemanchal region.[2] She provides assistance to domestic violence survivors and has continuously acknowledged domestic violence to have a straightforward connection with environment/climate change.[5][6][7][8]Singh participated in advocating for the opening of crisis centers where rescued women could get all assistance in one place that is free from discrimination and has government protection.[9]Through her organization, Bhoomika Vihar, Shilpi signed an MoU with the Canadian Embassy and NSS Bihar to create gender youth speakers to campaign for gender awareness and sensitivity.[10]
Awards
Shilpi was given the Secret Superstar award by Aamir Khan in his promotional campaign for people who were engaged in social causes but remain unknown to the world.[11][12] She was selected as the women leader for 2022-2023 by American organization Vital Voices and Reliance Foundation.[13]
