Richard "Rich" Costey is an American music producer, mixer and engineer, known for his innovative and boundary-pushing approach to music production. He has worked with a diverse range of musicians across various genres including hip-hop, rock, pop, indie, and electronica.[1]

He has garnered critical acclaim and multiple Grammys for his outstanding contributions to the music industry. Some notable collaborators include Fiona Apple, Vampire Weekend, Foo Fighters, Sigur Rós, Muse,[2] Foster the People, Swirlies, Sam Fender, and My Chemical Romance. He has occasionally worked as a DJ and musician on these albums as well.[3] He is managed by René Symonds at Tap Mgmt[4]

Costey operates out of a residential studio located on a sprawling 400-acre estate in Southern Vermont,[5] providing artists with an environment of incredible inspiration and focus. He regularly works from studios in both Los Angeles and London, where he typically spends several months of the year.

His mixing and production style is distinctive and highly regarded. Costey aims to take artists to uncharted territory while ensuring that the music is both texturally fascinating and emotionally powerful. He never takes the easy route and makes every decision based on how it makes the track feel.
