Hector Fonseca (born January 10, 1980, in the Bronx, New York City, New York[1]) is an American house music DJ. In addition to his production and DJ work, Fonseca is a popular remixer.
Biography
Early years
Born in The Bronx, NY (USA). Raised in suburban Clifton, New Jersey, in a Puerto Rican family, Fonseca started his career as a fashion model.[2] He enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania where he studied business administration. He left his studies to focus on modeling & the tribal and house music scene emerging in New York during the late 1990s.[3][4]
Fonseca held residencies at New York City nightclubs such as the Limelight, Heaven, Splash, and Roxy, along with numerous national gigs[citation needed]. He attracted the attention of the late Grammy Award-winning DJ, producer, and remixer Peter Rauhofer, who became his mentor[citation needed]. In 2007 together with Peter Rauhofer and Offer Nissim Fonseca helped launch the world's largest LGTBQ+ Festival Circuit Festival.
In the summer of 2004, Fonseca's rendition of Jahkey B's single "Heart Attack" achieved the number 8 spot on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart[citation needed]. His follow-up to Shelia Brody's "U Ain’t That Good" reached number 3 on the same chart[citation needed]. He followed those with remixes for Offer Nissim "First Time" "Be My Boyfriend" & "On My Own" which also were Top 20 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart Fonseca was signed to Star 69 Records during this period & released his first two singles "U Want It" featuring Alan T from Miami and "Get On Top".
Later years (2010-present)
In 2010, signed to new management under Jake Resnicow , Fonseca got his first major label remix requests for Kelis "4th of July" Lady Gaga "Born This Way" and Katy Perry "Peacock". All 3 remixes charted top ten on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart. He also received requests to headline at Europe's largest HIV/Aids Fundraiser Lifeball Vienna and Matinee Group. He also met & DJ'ed with DJ Theresa for the first time in 2010.
From 2011-2018 Fonseca received Official Remix requests for Rihanna Beyonce Sia Erika Jayne Lenny Kravitz Kim Petras Petshop Boys Kerli Betty Who Carmen Electra Madonna Lady Gaga & all reached #1 on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart Fonseca started his own independent record label Audio4play Records together with Theresa Velasquez The label charted several Top 20 Billboard's Hot Dance Club Songs chart and still releases LGBTQIA+ Indie Dance Music.
Career
Fonseca was voted Out Magazine's Hottest DJ in 2007[citation needed].
In 2013, Fonseca produced his first original composition, a collaboration with Blondie titled "Mile High"[citation needed].
In 2014, Foseca collaborated with club divas Natascha Bessez, Inaya Day, and Maya Simantov for a self-titled album released by Audio4play Records, an independent house music label he started with partner Theresa Velasquez[citation needed].
