64th season in franchise history
The 2023 season is the Kansas City Chiefs ' ongoing 54th season in the National Football League (NFL), their 64th overall and their eleventh under head coach Andy Reid . The Chiefs, who entered the season as defending champions, are looking to be the first team to repeat as Super Bowl champions since the New England Patriots in 2003 and 2004 and the first to win three out of five championships since the Patriots' titles in 2014 , 2016 and 2018 . The Chiefs failed to improve or equal on their 14–3 record from the previous season , but secured their eleventh consecutive winning season, and became divsion champions for the eigth consecutive season.
