Hospital Sketches
Hello, fellow editor! Can you explain why you have twice changed a quote from Hospital Sketches into inaccurate wording? I have had to revert you twice. Also, new information should be referenced to a reliable source. --Midnightdreary (talk) 23:31, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- You were right to make this correction because it is the published version. I never read the published version. I just found a LibriVox recording on YouTube that says, "I WANT something to do." I own the house that belonged to the original owner of Crawford's Hotel, which later became the Union Hospital. https://www.nps.gov/choh/learn/historyculture/the-union-hotel-and-tavern.htm The family had draft notes that said the word "Important." Until they are made public by the Library of Congress, then I do not have a hard reference. There can be variations in wording between different editions of a book, including 'Hospital Sketches' by Louisa May Alcott. These differences may arise due to editorial choices, revisions made by the author, or errors introduced during the printing process. Perhaps the word 'important' was eliminated as an editorial decision not to offend other, more conventional life paths like motherhood. GeorgetownPress (talk) 19:07, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
