The Secret Snake Club is the 40th episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. It is the first full-length episode, other than Billy and Mandy's Jacked Up Halloween. It is one of the most popular episodes of the show. It first aired February 21, 2005 on Cartoon Network.

Plot

It's school club day. Irwin joins a macrame club. Billy, while questioning about the "Junior CIA" club, is being kidnapped by real CIA because he "knows too much". Mandy is looking for a club, but no club satisfies her. She eventually joins "The Secret Snake Club" as it seems least bad.

"The Secret Snake Club" turns out to be just three nerds who have meetings in a basement. The club is pathetic, and Mandy is bored to tears. But they eventually reveal their dark agenda: they want to summon the second arrival of the ancient snake god Shnissugah, which will eat all bullies, leaving nerds to rule the world. But they need one thing to do this - the powers of the Underworld, where can they find that? Mandy knows. She rents them Grim for $20 an hour. Grim is taken to the Secret Snake Club, and there he tries to log on "www.Shnissugah.com". While Grim is struggling with the computer, Mandy decides that she has had enough with the nerds and decides to leave the Secret Snake Club. But, as nobody can "unjoin" the Secret Snake Club, the Snake Nerds stops her with their little garden snake Wiggly Junior. Wiggly Junior ties Mandy and she is unable to move. Grim says he's on the clock and can't help her.

Grim eventually logs to the Snissugah's site and, using his powers, summons Shnissugah over the internet. Soon Shnissugah comes out, but he is not what Snake Nerds expected. He is 8 centimeters instead of 8 kilometers long, because, as he says, "the metric system got mixed up". Since Shnissugah can't eat cool kids because they're full of trans-fatty acid, he simply leaves Snake Nerds and returns into the monitor. Grim also leaves, leaving Snake Nerds on Mandy's mercy.

Meanwhile, Billy learns to excel as a well-trained CIA agent. After he successfully stops a playboy smuggler Leaky Collon, saying phrases like "Leaky Collon, it's time to stop running!" and "looks like a messy end for Leaky Collon, but that's what happens when you don't eat all your vegetables", he gets a new top secret mission from the CIA - he must stop a dark agenda hidden as a school club. Right when Grim is summoning Shnissugah, Billy appears at the door of the club. But not the door of the Secret Snake Club, the door of the Irwin's Macrame Club. He infiltrates Irwin's club, and Irwin, trying to escape, jumps out the window, but "he forgot this classroom is on the 3rd story." Billy finds Irwin crushed in a school yard and arrests him. It turns out that Irwin also had his own dark agenda - he was planning to sell his quality hand-made pot holders so he could buy a laser cannon which he would use to shoot at people's eyes so everyone would have to wear glasses like him. Well, he failed.

End Credits

The Cabbage Club boy tries to recruit members for his pathetic club. He feels dissed. He picked his nose and places the booger on one of his cabbages. Then he eats it.

Guest Characters

Shnissugah

The real Shnissugah

A snake god worshipped by Wiggly and his Snake nerds, who had believed that he is giant (8 kilometers) and capable of eating up the bullies that made fun of nerds. Much to their surprise, Shnissugah was actually very small (8 centimeters) and bullies gave him indigestion. Shnissugah was brought into the mortal realm when Mandy rented out Grim for $20 an hour to the Snake Nerds. Grim used his underworld powers to release him from the internet. When Shnissugah come from the computer monitor (which was giving Grim much grief) Shnissugah is only 8 centimeters, he explains, because the metric system got mixed up. He than offers to bite the cool kids' big toes, which would make it "very uncomfortable for them to walk around." He is terrified and allergic to cats.

He is voiced by Frank Welker, whose voice in this role is similar to Woody Allen.

Snake Nerds

The Snake Nerds

Three nerdy boys at Billy and Mandy's school who comprise the "Secret Snake Club". Mandy joins the club during School Club Recruitment Day. All three wear long red robes, have secret code names and have poor personal hygiene. Each member of the Secret Snake Club has a "level", although it's never made clear what the levels are for or how they are attained. Together they are committed to their dark agenda: summoning the second revival of a legendary Canadian dirt snake god Shnissugah, which will devour the cool kids, leaving nerds to rule the earth.
"Viper" (a.k.a. Jerome) is a skinny, buck-toothed boy with a tall flattop haircut. He hosts Secret Snake Club meetings in his basement and provides refreshments in the form of "forbidden" Rice Crunchie treats shaped like snakes. He is a "Level 8". He is voiced by Billy West.

"King Cobra" is a large, mouth-breathing, monosyllabic boy with a blond bowl haircut, tiny glasses and a surprising talent for singing narrative songs like Bob Dylan. Aside from singing, he apparently doesn't talk too much, only eating Viper's "forbidden" Rice Crunchie treats through out the whole episode. He is a "Level 7". He is voiced by Billy West.

"Wiggly" is a short, bespectacled boy with bad acne and a curly mop of hair. He is the de facto leader of the Secret Snake Club, primarily because he is the only member of the club who actually owns a snake (a small green garden snake named "Wiggly Junior"). He is a "Level 20", and he apparently levels up faster because he "is the only one who actually has a snake", Wiggly Jr. He is voiced by Tom Kenny.

Cultural References

  • When Grim restarts the computer, comments appear on the screen. Such comments include: "Did you know that Billy and Mandy started as an Internet Cartoon? ...it didn't. that's a lie", and "Matrix okay. Sequels not so good."

Miscellanea

  • Whenever someone says the word "agenda" the background suddenly turns black, and lightning strikes, to give a creepy effect. This is done quite a few times until it starts to get on Wiggly's nerves, and then the

special effects stop.

  • When Billy becomes a CIA agent, he gains an I.Q. from -5 to 150.

Trivia

  • This is the episode breakes the fourth wall many times like when the CIA kid says "Move along, nothing to see here!" and when Irwin says "This episode was supposed be about snake nerds! Snake nerds!"
