The bit-slice processor

Introduced in the third quarter of 1974, these bit-slicing components used bipolar Schottky transistors. A bipolar transistor is a three-layer semiconductor device with two pn junctions. It comes in two types: NPN (negative-positive-negative) and PNP (positive-negative-positive). Intel 805xx product codes
Intel discontinued the use of part numbers such as 80486 in the marketing of mainstream x86-architecture processors with the introduction of the Pentium brand in 1993.
