Ad banners

I know you probably get a heap of these but... I think your ad banners are really great :) Keep up the good work, --Spebi 11:37, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually I mostly just get requests for new ones :) Thanks! – Qxz 11:37, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Ad banners

I love the ad banners! Great idea! I hate to bug you, but could you get one for WikiProject Video games? Thanks a lot! Greeves (talk contribs) 22:58, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your suggestion; I'll see what I can do – Qxz 22:58, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for reverting that kids edit of my userpage. He lives down the street from me and thinks he's a comedian. Slayerofangels 02:52, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

The image was taken from de:Image:BBC.svg and was reported there as ineligible for copyright. Is this a mistake on their entry as well? — cBuckley (TalkContribs) 02:58, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

I am not a copyright lawyer and don't have a perfect understanding of these things, but to summarize, to the best of my knowledge, the German Wikipedia seems to consider logos ineligible for copyright; we don't. Note also the license tag on Image:BBC Logo 1997-Present.png. Thanks – Qxz 03:21, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Ad Banners

Qxz -- your ads certainly are a nice addition to the project ... a very cr eative way to point people toward useful ways to help out. Thanks for all your hard work. -- Pastordavid 03:26, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that!

As soon as I realized my signature was in the text, I removed it. Kinda new at this. RJ —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bigwig77 (talkcontribs) 05:54, 26 March 2007 (UTC).

Definitely as sad day. Well... Farewell, I wish you the best of lucks, and I hope you'll come back to us one day. I was getting used to see your signatures on the pages I read :). Take care :) -- lucasbfr talk 10:08, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Are you sure? My signature is quite possibly the most boring one ever devised, I'm surprised you even noticed it – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Could you explain why you've just hit every single RFA with an oppose vote and an insult? Ryanpostlethwaite contribs/talk 10:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

For the lulz, obviously. (No, don't panic, I'm not going to ED) – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

"But you haven't had any sleep!", says Ais523

I think you might have got irritable because you haven't had enough sleep recently: you contributed for over 24 hours with breaks of no more than 2 hours recently. Please think things through for a bit before you make any rash decisions; you may feel better after you get more sleep. --ais523 10:34, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Rest assured I rested assuredly (interesting that this attempt to explain my departure seemed to be favoured by several people over the one I provided myself...) – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

What's gotten into you?

Qxz, this just isn't like you. Now I'm starting to think that someone has hacked your password, and is using your account, and if now, then I have some advice: Just get some sleep. RyGuy 12:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Now I know that someone else is using this account for two reasons: 1. Qxz is never on at this time. 2. the "attitude". Please stop the disruptive edits. I am afraid I have to report you for incivility reasons. RyGuy 12:19, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Indeed; when you can't accept what's happening, make up increasingly desperate alternatives and rationalize those instead. I believe RyGuy does, in fact, know why I left; someone showed him an email I sent them and told them not to show to anyone else (see how well that worked! :/) – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Comment from Khukri

IAR or piqued messages on the talk page in this case. OK I'm sure you'll erase this looking at the previous few, but at least I know you'll read it. Whatever has got your riled up, please don't throw the toys out of the cot. Take a break, you've spent a lot of time here and done a lot of valuable work on the templates and have been a very valuable contributor and you have yourself at somepoint thought it worth your time. If there's anything ..... well anyway. Take it easy Khukri 17:49, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Comment from Snowolf

Maybe you'll deleted this message too. Anyway, at least read it ;-): you've spent too much time here, but you're really one of the kind of contributors that make wikipedia something I really love. You've done great things here, and your work is appreciated. Why leaving? I'm sure you should reduce the amount of time that you've spent here, but... Wikipedia is worth of our and your time. How many times I (and maybe you) have used it? I think that helping this project isn't a waste of time. You aren't the first fine contributor to leave, but usually the others have spent longer period on the project. Try with a wikibreak ;-) I hope you'll come back, one day. Snowolf (talk) CON COI - 18:08, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Would you be saying the same thing if I'd been here for eighteen months, not two? If so, bear in mind that I had. – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Comment from Z.E.R.O.

RETIRED
This user is no longer active and left Wikipedia in March 2007.
I'm not sure why Z.E.R.O. feels the need to go around the talk pages of departed users announcing the departure on their behalf with the aid of an ugly and badly-coded template. Then again, his comments on this talk page have been a little odd (see below) – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Comment from Netscott

Hmm conciliatory overtones... are we seeing a thaw? :-) ~~~~

No, what you were seeing was increasing frustration with people who insist on leaving comments, and a further attempt to make them go away... – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Very cool template

Qxz, I just wanted to express to you that I think Template:Qxz-ads is very, very, very cool, so long as it is used on user and user talk pages. I've thoroughly found your development of that template awesome. Hope you come back. (Netscott) 23:14, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

Did you notice that within hours of my departure Xaosflux had stripped the credit line from it? Doesn't make a lot of difference from my point of view, my username being in the template name anyway, but I bet AzaToth is a bit miffed.

Comment from Khukri

Well we can only hope so, I tried to e-mail you last night but your e-mail isn't enabled. Send me an e-mail if you get a chance. Khukri

Did it not occur to you that the reason someone might have disabled their email is that they don't want to be emailed? I only sent The Transhumanist one because he was threatening to try and "console" me *shudder*Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Not a comment, but a request...

Drop me an email, please. The Transhumanist   08:14, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Said email was dropped, but it turned out to be just someone confusing the ability to make animated GIFs and a basic understanding of CSS with substantial programming and web design experience. As Arthur C. Clarke once said, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

What you have done to RfAs of other users

Please stop posting uncivil oppose votes to other users' RfAs. All oppose votes should remain as civil as possible. — zero » 04:42, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Suggest user goes and does something useful with their life instead
Oh, I see you've done this before, too. It is blockable if you keep this up. — zero » 04:42, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Next time you place an uncivil RfA oppose vote on RfAs, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. — zero » 04:52, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

-

Mm, I don't think Qxz will. He seems to be gone for good for a while. I hope it is only temporary. --Iamunknown 04:49, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Sadly it is permanent. And yes, it is blockable. However, the block had been imposed, lifted, re-imposed and re-lifted five days before the above posts. I only hope Z.E.R.O. isn't in the habit of doing this with anonymous vandals. Here, nobody cares, but warning an IP address 5 days after the fact could easily cause confusion – Qxz 15:22, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Help with EB?

Hi Qxz,

It looks like something bad has been going on; I hope it wasn't too unpleasant for you!

I have a favor to ask of you. I remember fondly our work together on Wikipedia and I hope that you can help me with the Encyclopædia Britannica article, which is now a featured article candidate. It's received a few excellent reviews, but overall it's received surprisingly little attention. Could you maybe look it over and make ruthlessly constructive suggestions? Thanks muchly! :) Willow 22:36, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

Comment from Anetode

I'm sorry for all of the talk page protection bullshit. You did a lot for the project, I hope you don't regret the effort that you put into it. Some people still share the delusion that Wikipedia might be worth a damn. You might be right, I might be wrong, but there is cause to fight for making this place better. Peace, -anetode

Comment from Anetode

You know, at first I tried to help by protecting this page after seeing the amount of irritation it had apparently caused you. The apology for doing so, and the rest of the note, were probably not a good idea, but now I don't care. Your treatment of this whole thing has been just immature. Yes, Wikipedia is a bureaucracy with too many pedantic pricks running about. Yes, users littering your talk page with inane barnstars and admin nomination requests can wear thin after a while. But then just exploding, taking your stress out on others, and admonishing those who dare try to lend support - all of this is just plain childish. You want to retire? Go ahead, everyone appreciated the work you have done. But then don't check your talk page every day and leave insulting messages, no one here deserves your abuse. Leave with grace, like others have done, even though they grew tired of Wikipedia. Or, better yet, stop the whole drama queen act, assume some responsibility, and come back to helping us make this a worthwhile project. Don't talk to the users you don't like, don't frequent areas that tick you off, contribute in a way that brings only enjoyment to you. Or don't, it's your choice, but know that your attitude is transparent. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 21:11, 31 March 2007 (UTC) ˉˉanetode╦╩ 00:27, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Apologies for irritating you and anyone else who I may have irked along the way. On balance your decision to protect the page was probably a good one. It would have been fine had nobody made a fuss.
I'm not leaving because I've grown tired of Wikipedia. I would have gone a lot more calmly if I were. You're free to find fault in the manner of my departure (and I readily confess there is much to be found), but please bear in mind that doing so doesn't help anyone. Yes, my conduct was less than satisfactory, for which I have already apologized, and yes, my behaviour may be viewed as childish.
I wish I could simply "not talk to the users I don't like", but that just isn't possible. Not any more, for any length of time. I wish it were, but it isn't. I'm sorry. My actions were wrong, and I should have seen this coming and found a more constructive way to go about things. I understand that the continued reading and blanking of messages on my talk page may be viewed as unacceptable, and I shall stop doing so. If you feel I've violated a policy, by all means take things further.
A bit of explanation, which should hopefully show you why my departure has nothing to do with barnstars or anything remotely along those lines. I didn't really want people knowing about this (other than those I told privately) because I didn't want to cause unncecessary hassle, however it is perhaps best to be honest. This is not my only account. I have been contributing for eighteen months. I was an administrator for six months. I got frustrated with the project in January and briefly quit, decided I might be able to make things work if I came back under a different name and started afresh, did so, but only delayed the inevitable and ended up much worse off as a result. User:Gurch is my other account. Take any action which you feel may be necessary. In hindsight, this was a very bad idea, for which I apologize once again. I will, as you request, go properly this time.
Thank you and good luck – Qxz 22:19, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
About that notice you place on the top, are you really sure you're User:Gurch? — zero » 00:08, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
He confirmed it here. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 00:10, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
I do not know why you had to change your account (Your old account shows that you were once a sysop.) — zero » 00:13, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
Okay, Zero, maybe it is time to quit conversation on Qxz's talk page. Did you read the message Qxz left? I suggest you do and contemplate, quietly and off-wiki, the message and what it means in relation to Qxz's actions and then refrain from commenting on Qxz's talk page. --Iamunknown 00:17, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Wow, I am sincerely sorry for getting involved and adding on to the mess. I understand and respect your decision to keep quiet about this, and I must say that any accusations of immaturity on my part are rendered completely baseless by your humble and honest response. Thank you and good luck. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 00:22, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Help!

I see you just moved the banner style ads to template namespace, but before you did that, the page also included links to speedy deletion logs and the like. Your regular userspace redirects to your talk page. Where can I find those logs? I find them quite useful. (Please answer on my talk page) - Mgm|(talk) 08:31, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

To encourage fact checking I would like to see a banner to promote Wikipedia:WikiProject Fact and Reference Check, but my art skills are pretty much non-existent. I see you created at least some of the banners yourself. Would you like to help me out with this one? - Mgm|(talk) 09:35, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

responded on User talk:MacGyverMagicQxz 10:13, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
  • A shame to see you left. I've been informed of that by another user and already contacted AzaToth. In case you haven't noticed yet, you also have email. :) - Mgm|(talk) 10:18, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Forgot to switch accounts?

;-) ? Anyway, about time you admitted that. ^_^ Миша13 10:35, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

No, I didn't forget to switch accounts, and yes, I decided it would be best to make it clear that both accounts are mine. I didn't do so initially because I didn't want to cause yet more fuss – Qxz 12:21, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
