Distinguishing characteristics of teeth

[edit]

In this section, I have added the introductions from their respective articles for each tooth. Some of the introductory information in these articles are similar. It may be beneficial to re-organize the section by incisors, canines, premolars, and molars, and then have subsections of the individual teeth. Obviously, more specific content about each teeth need to be added to the individual articles and to these subsections. I just have not had a chance to do so yet, but maxillary central incisor should be a model for the rest of them. - Dozenist talk 13:36, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Section was reorganized. Important information about the distinctive features of each tooth still need to be added. - - Dozenist talk 13:29, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was highly dissapionted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!--Mary Di Valerio 18:52, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why? What are you talking about? And why so emphatic? (!!!!) · jersyko talk 18:56, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I've just wasted over an hour surfing a dozen disorganized dental articles, looking for some basic dental terminology. Here for example: The image uses a nonstandard numbering system. Can we do no better? Wikipedia has way too many conflicting, redundant, overlapping and incomplete articles in the various "Dental" (Anatomy) sections. Many need to be organized, combined, re-written and/or eliminated. Thanks for what we have; but they need editing. IMHO HalFonts (talk) 00:11, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Medial" ???

[edit]

This article contains several occurrences of the word medial to describe the direction toward the centreline of the face. It was my understanding that the correct term is mesial (with an S). I'm not a dentist, however, so before I just go in and change all the "medial"s to "mesial", I wanted to ask here, just in case I'm confused. I fixed this problem (see here). Richwales (talk · contribs · review) 14:36, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tooth Diagram dental notation

[edit]

The illustration for the article, File:Teeth_diagram.png, numbers the teeth, but the numbering does not correspond to any of the three Dental notation systems discussed in the article, the FDI_World_Dental_Federation_notation, Universal_numbering_system_(dental), or Palmer_Notation_Method. I think it would help reduce confusion if someone were to renumber the illustration using one (or more) of the discussed systems. It would certainly help to mention the notation system used in numbering the illustration or to state that it is a non-standard numbering. --AJim (talk) 17:24, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bicuspid/tricuspid

[edit]

Should there be mention of bicuspid teeth and tricuspid teeth (found in primates)? Jack (talk) 09:55, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
