Hello, I'm Gab4gab. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Chris Fuller (director), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. I noticed your edits were marked as minor while making changes that other editors might object to. Those are not minor edits - see WP:MINOR. Gab4gab (talk) 13:25, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Gab4gab:Hi Gab4gab! Thanks so much for the info, still learning the ropes. I re-added a few updates to the Chris Fuller (director) article with citations from LA Weekly. I was also sure to not mark them minor edits (I thought they were, particularly considering the article is listed in the "1982 births" category but the date of birth was missing). I appreciate the guidance and the friendly manner of delivery. Thanks again! MadJackBoone (talk) 05:45, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello, MadJackBoone. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Spagooder (talk) 16:34, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, Spagooder. There is no COI, I'm just contributing to articles on subjects I'm knowledgeable about, interested in and feel I can improve. I don't see any issues with the updates you made to some of the articles I've contributed to in the past. I did add the Documentary language back to the Renzo Gracie article and moved it from the Mixed Martial Arts Career section to its own Documentary section. I believe that may have been the reason you removed it. Everything else looks good. Thanks! MadJackBoone (talk) 02:19, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- Hey. You began editing in 2021 and almost all of your edits are related to Chris Fuller (director) and his projects, giving the impression of COI, WP:PROMOTION, and WP:SPA. But I think you are aware of these, based on the following edit where you removed information on another documentary on the Gracie family with the reasoning: "Removed reference/advertisement that has SPA and COI issues. Lack of verifiable sources."

- It looks like you started editing in 2023 and primarily, like me, focused on certain topics...really a singular one...martial arts. I'm assuming this is because you have an interest and/or knowledge about that topic, though I haven't reviewed your edits in detail. I, too, enjoy cleaning up martial arts articles as well as filmmaking and, in particular, things related to St. Petersburg, Florida. I don't see an issue with that. I have and will continue to do my best to improve articles related to things that have my interest or that I have knowledge on, regardless of who, what or where they may be focused on. - Improving articles based on one's interests and knowledge is great, but it shouldn't be "regardless" due to the previously mentioned COI policy. You're correct, martial arts is my hobby, but comparing your edit history to mine in that way isn't appropriate. My edit history is diverse despite the scope. No one could predict what article I'm going to work on next since I don't even know. Your edit history has revolved around one specific individual. Now that we've had this conversation, please be conscious of WP's policies and guidelines when you contribute your knowledge. Spagooder (talk) 04:06, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- Your edit history is the opposite of diverse, it literally revolves around 1 topic. Your account has existed for less than a year. My edit history has not revolved around one specific person, it has revolved around my interests: martial arts, film, St. Petersburg, Florida, the Gracie family, the Ketogenic diet and more. I have been and will continue to be conscious of WP's policies, none of which I've violated. I'd recommend you do the same. Thanks for writing. MadJackBoone (talk) 04:19, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
