Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open
Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:05, 2 September 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol newsletter
Hello Eternal Shadow,
Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Page Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.

Independent sources
Hi I appreciate your having a look at the article Draft:No Love No Hate. All of the sources are already secondary and independent, what exactly do you mean? Like MusikWoche, Celebmix, Earmilk, Rolling Stone, Plastic Magazine. Not all the sources have their own wikipedia articles, but I frequently saw them on other album articles whatsoever. 62.3.66.254 (talk) 23:44, 7 January 2024 (UTC)
- The sources are independent yes, but not all of them significantly cover the subject in depth. In other words, they only passingly mention the subject album. See WP:NALBUM for guidelines on the notability of albums. Eternal Shadow Talk 00:18, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- I've studied Wikipedia rules extensively before creating my first article and right now I'm still not convinced. There are so many worthless useless articles on Wikipedia (like this one for example Transience_(Wreckless_Eric_album)) and my article is much better I believe and written 100% neutrally and encyclopedically. So I asked for another review to get a second opinion and I therefore ask you to please defer from redeclining it. Thanks 62.3.66.254 (talk) 00:28, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- To clarify, I meant to say most of the sources are independent, but of those only a couple are secondary sources. Of the sources, the reviews solidly contribute to notability, though the others do very little. WP:NALBUM states Specific to recordings, a recording may be notable if it meets at least one of these criteria:
- 1. The recording has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble who created it.
- 2. The recording has appeared on any country's national music chart.
- 3. The recording has been certified gold or higher in at least one country.
- 4. The recording has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award.
- 5. The recording was performed in a medium that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article. Read the policy and notability guideline on subjects notable only for one event, for further clarifications).
- 6. The recording was in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network.
- 7. The recording has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or television network
- #2-#7 clearly are not met, so #1 is the criterion that is plausible, though the sources reliability is questionable. The sources are independent, some are secondary, and some are reliable. All that means the album may be notable. I’ll be sure to have another reviewer look at it. Do note that albums from larger artists are often accepted into mainspace, often without much trouble, especially if the album is on a chart, even without much coverage.
- I understand that creating a first article is very frustrating, especially when notability is often subject to interpretation. I hope this helps. Eternal Shadow Talk 08:19, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Apology for Recent Edits and Speedy Deletion Nomination
Dear,Eternal Shadow
I hope this message finds you well. I would like to extend my sincere apologies for the recent edits I made to the article on Yuhanon Dioscoros, which led to the speedy deletion nomination.
I realize that my actions resulted in potential copyright infringement, and I genuinely regret any disruption caused to the Wikipedia community. It was not my intention to violate Wikipedia's guidelines, and I understand the importance of adhering to copyright policies.
I am committed to rectifying this mistake promptly. I will thoroughly review and revise the article, ensuring that all content is in full compliance with Wikipedia's standards. I appreciate your diligence in upholding the integrity of the platform.
I acknowledge the seriousness of the issue and will take necessary measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. If there are specific steps I need to follow or additional information you require, please let me know.Thank you for your understanding,
Thank you for your understanding, and I appreciate your continued efforts to maintain the high standards of Wikipedia.
Sincerely Joleoooo (talk) 18:31, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
- I think the subject of the article may be notable, so rewriting it with paraphrasing in your own words may result in it being put back into mainspace. Eternal Shadow Talk 20:25, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
New page reviewer granted
Hi Eternal Shadow. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
- Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.
- Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. signed, Rosguill talk 00:18, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Asim Munir page
Hi, you correctly reverted a mass removal of content in the Asim Munir (general) page, however, the disruptive editor is still continuing this, and did not try to discuss it, even though I went on his talk page to talk about his disruptive editing.
Do you know how to report this kind of behaviour? I’m new to this thing. Thanks in advance. VirtualVagabond (talk) 12:58, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
- VirtualVagabond, if the editor does not respond to any initial discussion or mediation attempts, than the next step would be to take it to a noticeboard for admins to see, namely the administrators noticeboard. Keep in mind that there is a rule against having more than three reverts in 24 hours, which it seems may be a line that is potentially at risk of being crossed soon.
