Fair use rationale for Image:Goldenfry.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Goldenfry.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Speedy deletion of The Analogue Bombs

A tag has been placed on The Analogue Bombs requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Fritzpoll (talk) 19:41, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

signing articles

Hi, When you're adding something to a talk page the best way to sign it is to use ~~~~, which adds your username and also the date and time, so that people can see how the Talk page has developed over time. It's also useful to indent your reply using ":" so that people can follow the thread easily. Cheers. PamD (talk) 21:46, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Classic film lines

A tag has been placed on Classic film lines requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Thanks for uploading Image:Wetherbyracecoursestands.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. Replaceable fair use Image:Jet2atleeds.jpg

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Jet2atleeds.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? MilborneOne (talk) 18:19, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Seacroft2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Seacroft2.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:10, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Thorpe Business Park

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Thorpe Business Park, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Speedy deletion of Image:.wiki 006.JPG

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Headingleyarndalecentre.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Robert Skyhawk (Talk) 18:00, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

additions to Areas of Leeds

The material you've added to Areas of Leeds is about places within the City of Leeds but not in Leeds: this article is about areas of Leeds. Your useful lists of villages and towns might find a place in the City of Leeds article, but quite a few of the links need to be disambiguated (Bramham, Clifford etc) before being added to the article. I've removed your additions for now, but please feel free to add them to the article for the Met District, City of Leeds, which is where they belong. Thanks, PamD (talk) 23:34, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Solid contribution to article on Slums

Your recent contribution to the Slums article is robust. Good work. Too many articles dealing with slums and other informal settlements are lacking in detailed, referenced information. - Damian Doyle (talk) 19:37, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Adding a picture of a railway into a section of the article dealing with events in 1710 - as you do here is not really the way to go. As it is, the image is pushed to the bottom because of the maps. Had that not happened, the image would by your design be in completely the wrong place.

There is an issue with the History of Leeds article, as with many articles, about competition for image space. As it stands, I think the maps are a good thing, in that they allow the reader to see the growth of the city. I have no objection to additional images, but thought does need to be given to how, whether, and where they'll be displayed. Given the maps, this is a problem at the foot of the page (at least, until we write more text).

I'm not entirely convinced by at least one of the images - the tramway image is already on the tramway page ... and truthfully it's a set of rails and some gents ... could be anywhere ... there's nothing that screams Leeds Tram from it, and I'm not convinced it adds anything even to the tramway article. The other two ... well, they too don't do much for me. There must be thousands upon thousands of pictures of aspects of old Leeds. I think there has to be an actual reason, as well as a place, for each image that's added.

I'd be grateful if you'd give this some thought & let me know what you think. thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 20:39, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

History of Wetherby

Hi, just spotted this article and wondered if you may wish to nominate it for an appearance in the Did you know section of the main page. "... that in 1233 the Archbishop of York allowed remission of sins to those who contributed to the building of the Wetherby Bridge." may be worked into a suitable tag line. Keith D (talk) 19:37, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

You can do this by creating a hook, which is the text that goes on the main page, see WP:DYK#The hook for details and then add that to Template talk:Did you know in the section for the appropriate day when the article was created. There are instructions at the top of that page but are a bit over complicated for those who have not read them before. Keith D (talk) 20:48, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,

As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.

We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.

You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Asda

Hi, the links you have added for Asda in Kingston upon Hull are misleading. The link to Hessle is incorrect as the article on the village is not the location of the Asda store which is on Hessle Road. Similarly the village of Preston is not in Hull but the Preston Road area is, the 2 are not linked.

Though I am unsure where you are talking about with the city centre & Preston stores. May be you are referring to the one on Mount Pleasant for the city centre store and the one in Bilton for the Preston store. Keith D (talk) 19:28, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Carsleberg / Tettley bitter/brewery/ company etc

The copying of the info and turning old page into a redirect is not the right way of moving the page as the Edit history is now not a true record of the previous edits to the article. The true edit history is attached to the old Carlsberg page.

To "Move" a page it is usual to add a move tag and wait for a discussion to take place/ objections to be raised. I dont disagree to it moving as such , just what we now have is still an ambiguous mish mash as before. as we have an article now titled as a brand, with an info box related partially to the patent company, titled partially as the former company, with a slither of company history. and a stack of redirects attached.

Note "New discussions" on talk pages go below the section being replied to or if a new section at the bottom of the page with a signature, ~~~~ so people can see who added and when. not as you added to the article talk page with just a name - BulldozerD11 (talk) 20:05, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Quick Clarification - Whilst writing above Keith D has Fixed histories by moving pages, just needs the content fixing to make an encyclopaedic article - BulldozerD11 (talk) 20:15, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Leeds coords

Hi, I noticed that your change to the coords got swept aside in the midst of some vandalism being reverted... but, looking at it, the original coords look pretty good to me and yours seems too far to the west, centered around the bottom of Clarendon Road, so that the Ordnance Survey get-a-map includes lots of Kirkstall Road but not Kirkgate Market etc. So I haven't replaced your change because it didn't seem to be an improvement! Bands and musicians from Yorkshire and North East England

Hi, I noticed that you have added some album covers to the article. As they are fair use images you will need to add a new fair use rational to each of the images for use in this article. If this is not done the bot will remove them as having invalid rational. Keith D (talk) 18:36, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

For fair use images on wiki they need an individual fair use rational adding to the image page for each article they are used in. You cannot just use a fair use image in any article because it exists, but have to go to the image page and detail why you are using the image on the article in question. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. DARTH PANDAtalk 15:44, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

politics

Hello, I noticed that on the Yorkshire article you claimed that it was a "socialist county". This is far from true and I don't think this kind of mass political stereotyping is allowed. North Yorkshire and East Riding are very Tory. West Yorkshire is a mix of mostly Labour/Lib Dem and some Tory, only really South Yorkshire can seriously be described as largely socialist. In any case, these developments are mostly post-1974. The Scargill stuff specifically. Keep in mind the Yorkshire article is mostly about the governance and history of the county before the Yorkshire and the Humber was created. Cheers. - S Acaster (talk) 23:07, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Meant to say another bit - Herbert Asquith and Harold Wilson weren't involved in specific governance of Yorkshire (or its localised constituencies) like William Wilberforce was. Wilson was an MP in Lancashire, Asquith in Scotland. Ta. - S Acaster (talk) 23:12, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Cross Flatts Park

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Cross Flatts Park, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. -- Jeandré, 2008-11-10t11:47z 11:47, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Adsa image

Hi, the image Image:Holtparkasdaleeds.jpg of "ASDA in the Holt Park District Centre, Leeds" has been lost in a corruption of the database. I was wondering if you could re-upload it to sort out the problem. Keith D (talk) 11:32, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:1970-87.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:1970-87.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:03, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Your two edits to this article were without substantiation and hence I've reverted them. If you have some evidence that the Co-op Bank received an ethical award because of its approach to Christian Voice, then that's a point worth making. If not, then it's irrelevant. And CV didn't "attempt to organise a boycott"; they organised a boycott. If it didn't work, that doesn't mean it was an attempt to organise one. I think you mean "CV organised a boycott of Co-op Bank but it wasn't very succesful" but then that isn't NPOV nor verifiable, unless (once again) you have some evidence to the contrary.

The marital rape point just isn't encyclopaedic. They believe what they believe and they are basing it on a published prayer book. Adding "presumably forever" to this doesn't improve the reference material in Wikipedia - it is just adding your supposition. MarkyMarkD (talk) 20:42, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Later edits are better! I've re-worded some of them slightly to improve spelling and grammar (and to address the boycott point I already raised earlier) and I've removed the Rivers of Blood paragraph because the press release really isn't saying what you claim it is - saying "wouldn't it be bad, if in 30 years' time, 70 years after the speech, people are saying 'Enoch was right'" isn't the same as them saying "Enoch is right" as you stated. Almost all of their press release actually states how wrong much of what Enoch said was.MarkyMarkD (talk) 22:41, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
By the way, you had three references to the same BBC article - 1 was already there, and you added 2. If you re-use the same reference exactly, you shouldn't cite it again using [1]. You should name it the first time you site it: [2] and then just put [2] when you re-use it. Then each reference has the same reference number and it's only in the references list once. Two of your references to the same article were next to each other anyway, so were best combined as a single reference in any case. MarkyMarkD (talk) 22:44, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on British Bakeries, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of British Bakeries and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Drilnoth (talk) 20:49, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:015.JPG

Thanks for uploading Image:015.JPG.

--ImageTaggingBot (talk) 09:41, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Roundhay

You have placed a picture of Street Lane as the main image of a section marked "History". It has no particular relevance and provides no added value to the section. I appreciate your enthusiasm for North Leeds, but think you are being impolite to call my edits nuisance and vandalism. The building of St John's Church was an important part of the history of the area, and illustrates the adjacent text. I am actually anti-religious, but churches are facts in history, and I support the Wikipedia NPOV.Chemical Engineer (talk) 17:59, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

British Leyland

I have just undone your recent edits to the British Leyland article as contrary to your opinion Austin Rover Group was only the name of the car division of BL plc (as it was then) and its successor Rover Group plc not the name of the entire company although soon after BL became Rover Group the car division was also renamed Rover Group as the Austin name was dropped from its models. Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Woolworths, Merrion Centre, Leeds.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. J Milburn (talk) 13:12, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for dealing with that, I guessed it had just slipped your memory. J Milburn (talk) 13:17, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading images/media to Wikipedia! As you may know, there is another Wikimedia Foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In future, please upload media there instead (see m:Help:Unified login). That way, all of the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons (you may view previous uploads by going to your user contributions on the left and choosing the 'image' namespace from the drop down box (or see [1]). Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading! Adambro (talk) 13:59, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of List of riots in Leeds

A tag has been placed on List of riots in Leeds, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. John Collier (talk) 18:22, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Please don't forget to provide an edit summary, as you forgot on your recent edit to United Kingdom. Thank you. --Jza84 |  Talk  01:55, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Social Issues Dealt with in Cold Feet

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Social Issues Dealt with in Cold Feet, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Unreferenced, reads like a personal essay, orphan, original research

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
